Crafting at work!

Every year I prepare something for the kids at school … This year, using the snowflake Rosetta I made little tree decorations for the kids …

Most of the little ones ended up wearing them at necklaces until they left!

Last year I started a tradition of talking all the children photos wearing Santa hats .. I arrange them on these two black boards and we hang them on a wall in our corridor … the kids love looking at these photos all year round!

The year has flown so fast … I often feel that I don’t do enough for these kids! :)  But at least they do have fun, and come happily to class!!

Get Creative Sketch Challenge

Wow, this month is just passing me by … but I love the season and when I first say Melenia’s sketch for Get Creative:

I knew that I would be making something festive with it …

… and what’s more festive that Santa’s hats???

Here is our young Dimitraki playing with my Santa hat …

PC131665

This was such a fun layout to do … I cut my photos in squares …  make a grid with sticker borders … used a few xmas elements!!!

PC131666

Close up of the photos … doesn’t he look like a happy boy!!!

PC131667

More closeups …

PC131668

Dimitraki doesn’t like wearing hats … in fact last year he wouldn’t even put it on for me … the last time I about to photograph him with a santa hat was when he was a baby …

Remember this?

So why don’t you head over to the blog and check out the rest of the amazing work by our DT team!!!

Have a great day whatever you do!!!

December Calendar in Art Journal

Well, I’ve decided to play with a group of ladies who make a calendar each month in an art journalistic style … I was inspired after Kate Crane’s calendars, so I’ll be playing along with her and others … I couldn’t wait for January so I decided to start with December … funnily enough so did Kate … 3 years ago!

So here is my December calendar:

PC101534

I have used my Dylusion mists, with a ghosting technique to make the background … stamped a few white snowflakes, and did quite a few doodles around …

PC101535

My image is a Dylusion stamp combination and I’ve used 3 d paste and a tree stencil to do the background … I’ve mainly coloured in with Twinking H2Os …

PC101536

Some stickers for the title … and banner …

PC101537

Close up of journaling and doodling …

I think this is one project that I will be doing in 2013!!!!

Art Journalling: My little Fiddler on the Roof

After making Sofia travelling in a boat, I wanted to do something for Katerina as well … I came up with the idea to have her playing her violin on the roof tops …

Here is another double spread in my Art Journal:

PC031442

I started this spread on Saturday evening in the company of friends at Katerina’s house … I ended up being the last to leave, but I was so enjoying myself, and had such a great helper … generous with her ideas, input and sharing of her stash!!!

PC031443

This is the left page …. The notes on the doors, the brick stamps, the music stamps, and the music paper was generously giving to me! 🙂

PC031444

This is the right page, once again the music / bird / and quote stamps are Kat’s and well as the door embellies!

PC031445

I’ve used Webster papers for the houses, and music and papers from a book for the roofs.  I’ve basically used panpastels, and water soluble wax pastels …

I’ve embossed the 1 st door, and coloured in with a creamy crayon time of colour that I have …

PC031446

I love the 2 size birds here … the cloud stamps are from a Unity kit … lots of building up layers of panpastels.

PC031447

The sun is also a Unity stamp … and I’ve also used the chicken wire stencil in the background …

I plan on making this once again on a canvas to give to Katerina (my niece) for Christmas …

Get Creative December 1st challenge!

Good morning & Καλό μήνα!!!

… today over at Get Creative we have a very playful challenge for you …

This is one of my favourite kind of challenges because everyone creates in such different ways …

Even if you choose the same row as someone, odds are that you will create two totally different layouts ….

So to start us off …

Here is our Bil-lingual Bingo card!

For the challenge you must create a layout using just the THREE elements that you have chosen, any row vertically, horizontally or diagonally!

There are a total of EIGHT combinations possible!

Apart from the 3 elements you choose you can use: cardstock & photos. Inking & misting are allowed.

Feel free to add a title and journaling.

When uploading your layout please state which THREE elements you have chosen!

Well this is my take on the challenge:

Eleni

I chose the second horizontal row: Die-cuts, paint, doilies!

Let me show you how I used my elements …

PB191340

I started out with a blank white piece of cardstock.  Using a die cut out with the Cameo I misted the top corner to create the ‘sun’ [used the diecut creatively!!!]

PB191341

I had photocopied my photo to play around with it before cutting up the colour photo … I created my boat of of scrap paper, and lightly traced where I would draw my other elements.

PB191342

I took out my paints and my palet and got to work, working the layers in …

PB191344

Here is a close up of the island I painted and added diecuts too it … as you can see I created the beach by lightly inking the edges of a doily and gluing it …

PB191345

The title are stickers, the anchor & journaling spot diecuts … I played around with the paint to create a texture.

PB191346

The boat is brown cardstock, which I crumpled up to give it a more 3D look … I painted it with the water … and added the doily as a decorative edge.  I also used the doily which I also crumpled and inked to create the sail!!!

PB191347

To the left of the photo I’ve kept part of the real sea to give it a more life-like feel!

PB191348

here is a side view to see the 3D effects!

I totally enjoyed this challenge, and I’d like to challenge you to use your elements in an original way … don’t be limited by preconceived ideas … GET CREATIVE!!!!
