Leukemia, Two successful passes on the ECPE Preliminary and a Funeral!!!

Not a title of a new film, but today has been incredible … why is it that some times a day can go by and you have NOTHING to say for it, then everything seems to go on as if an avalanche is falling … today was one of those days … and as it’s 23:51 at the moment I’m hoping that it will end soon …

To start with I went to my private lesson today to find that no one was home. This was most peculiar as they are very prompt and when they can’t make it they give me a ring on my mobile! So off to work I went with a peculiar feeling … at work, I find out that one of my students who had been ill on Tuesday [fainted at school] was diagnosed with Leukemia today. I know nothing more than that. I’m devastated. She’s only 13, an only child. God help her and her parents.

Then a student from last year who had passed her proficiency examination popped in to get her diploma. It was so good to see her, and it was an emotional moment for the both of us.

Just when I finished my last lesson I get an SMS from my boss to tell me that the results of the Preliminary examinations were out … I had one student at the school and one private lesson. To make a long story short … they BOTH passed!!! Both are thrilled and this means more work ahead as the final exam part is in March … it also means brownie points with the boss as this is another success for them!!!

Finally, after getting home I learnt why my student was not at home. They were all on Crete. The child’s grandfather had passed away today, after a battle with cancer. The funeral is tomorrow, and in their rush to get a flight on time they forgot all about our lesson.

What a day! I still can’t process it … but I felt that I had to write all this down for me

Last layouts for tonight!

Well, as I said previously I continued with my scrapping!!! These two layouts are my last for tonight and this week … my room is like a tornado has hit it … I think I will just clear the bed and worry about putting everything away tomorrow!!! 🙂

This layout is for Shimelle’s class … she’s also posted the details on her site so check it out!

The following two layouts are actually one … magic eh … lift up the photo and you can see what’s underneath … I was totally fascinated by this concept and I have done something similar to this with my zoo layout … 😀

Once again the subjects are my nieces, and their very own magical photos!!!

Another few altered CDs!

Another two that I made yesterday … The papers are from a German company ‘Folia’ that puts out this pack of papers [cardstock, patterned, shiny and vellum – all in one] which makes the selection easy to cope with … Will be making more of these in the days to come!

This is something that I just worked on on Saturday … Here name is Isabella and she was a wooden spoon that had served mom well … not wanted anything to go to waste I decided to recycle her … LOL … Painted, decorated and now she sits in a pot outside on the balcony!!! It was fun making her!

Christmas Challenge 4.

Christmas Challenge 4 was to use a Christmas carol. I’ve chosen Sleigh bells ring in the city! 🙂 The photos are from last year again … they are of my godson and his parents [my good friends] and our day in downtown Athens. Thanks to Paula [minibookpixie] I’ve added a mini book with more photos and journalling … she inspired me with a card that she had made …

Thank you Paula for the template, didn’t do the full book, but you get the idea of how much space it conceals!!! 🙂

I don’t know about you, but I’m totally in a Christmasy mood … I’ve been making different cards all week, so I may have another entry for you before the night’s end!

Christmas Challenge 3 … I’m BACK!!

I’ve been doing Paula’s challenges. The 3rd one was to scrap something christmasy out of your home. This is last year at my friend Fifi’s Christmas Brunch. We always have great fun here! I’ve made a little book in the bottom corner that hides journaling and a few more photos!!!

My computer problems are over … I blew out the power supply of the PC so no missing files … I’m so happy to have it back at home, although it was fun playing with my stash in the week!
