Not a title of a new film, but today has been incredible … why is it that some times a day can go by and you have NOTHING to say for it, then everything seems to go on as if an avalanche is falling … today was one of those days … and as it’s 23:51 at the moment I’m hoping that it will end soon …
To start with I went to my private lesson today to find that no one was home. This was most peculiar as they are very prompt and when they can’t make it they give me a ring on my mobile! So off to work I went with a peculiar feeling … at work, I find out that one of my students who had been ill on Tuesday [fainted at school] was diagnosed with Leukemia today. I know nothing more than that. I’m devastated. She’s only 13, an only child. God help her and her parents.
Then a student from last year who had passed her proficiency examination popped in to get her diploma. It was so good to see her, and it was an emotional moment for the both of us.
Just when I finished my last lesson I get an SMS from my boss to tell me that the results of the Preliminary examinations were out … I had one student at the school and one private lesson. To make a long story short … they BOTH passed!!! Both are thrilled and this means more work ahead as the final exam part is in March … it also means brownie points with the boss as this is another success for them!!!
Finally, after getting home I learnt why my student was not at home. They were all on Crete. The child’s grandfather had passed away today, after a battle with cancer. The funeral is tomorrow, and in their rush to get a flight on time they forgot all about our lesson.
What a day! I still can’t process it … but I felt that I had to write all this down for me …
