For the christening I also made a card …
Again, I’ve used left overs from the christening book … and thought an easel card would look nice displayed!
Some close-ups:
… and a photo of the baby Antonis!
… the story of my life!
On Sunday, one of my dear cousins baptized his baby boy, who is 8 months old. Antonis is such a cutie, all that black hair and big eyes.
I wanted to make something special for him, so I set about making his Christening book. With the help of Sfragidomania, I chose a shape for the book, and they cut some miniature crowns, and she name in Greek.
I chose, blues and greens, and basically played around with the Prince / Frog theme, inking bottom half green [for grass] and top half blue [for sky].
I’ve told Giouli [Antonis’ mum] that I still have some white pages, so when the photos come back, I can make 2-4 layouts so that she can add to the book to keep as a treasure!
I made an instruction layout, as I was sure that many people had not seen such a book before … it’s fairly a new trend in Greece, but is becoming ever so popular.
The instructions say: Give me joy, by adding a blessing to my book.
And now the book, as always if you press on photos you can see a bigger version.
The book was a success, and everyone wanted to write in it … I even got a couple of ‘bravos’ from the guests … and the often asked question:
How did you do it???
… and for my Greek scrapper friends, I got the question from the Godmother: Do you order from the internet, like I’ve seen on Menegaki??? LOL Obviously Scrapbooking is making its rounds, in many Greek circles!
On Sunday morning, at 11.30 my cousin Manoli and his wife Giouli were christening their son Antonis. The church was high on top of the hills over Galatsi. The view from the top was absolutely fab!
The Church itself was quite small but managed to get a few shots inside as well …
The theme of the christening was the prince frog.
So here are some touches …
”
Here is Antonis …
Then it was time for eating, drinking, partying, and lots of chatting with family and friends …
Finally have to tell you about the balloon story …
Giouli had two balloon displays made … one with a frog on it, and the other with a huge balloon with Antonis name on it, and many balloons inside …
We had to get them from the reception area to my Aunt Mary’s and the end of the even …
It was so big, that it wouldn’t fit inside the car …
So we actually had a friend, John, holding it outside of the car …
and the large balloon broke, so all the little balloons escaped!!!

Trying to fit the balloons ...
… and that’s all folks ….
Have another entry to do to show you the Christening book and instruction layout … but I’ll have that for later!!!
This weekend has absolutely flown by ….
My friend Katie from the UK was visiting Athens for a few days, with two of her friends. Due to work, I couldn’t meet up with her until Saturday [she had arrived Thursday], but I was so happy that I was able to see her. We last met up in 2003, September again, so 7 years had passed … it felt like yesterday.
The day was cloudy, drizzling at some points, and we spent it down in the centre but it was fun, and we had some good laughs.
I’ve been back 17 days now, and I still haven’t got into the swing of things …
Work started head on, and so much running around, and getting things in order that I haven’t managed to blog, now do any of my beloved hobbies …
Hopefully, things will find there own rhythm now,
and I thought before showing you my new creations I should share some photos from my last weekend on Naxos …
These are taken on the 28th of August, my last evening in the village … it was the saint day of St John, and I walked about 2.5 km to get there …. I do this every year and took some photos along the way:
Once in the churchyard, my nieces found me, and stuck by the side …
We spent the rest of the evening together in the village, as it would be the last time I would see them before my leaving ….
Guess it’s time for me to start scrapping now eh???
Another great sketch … check out
for inspiration by the DT team!
