Amazing Friends

It’s been a while since I’ve taken part in a Once Upon a Sketch challenge, but I couldn’t pass it up this month …

The theme is ‘friends’ and here’s the lovely sketch by Nadia …

Here’s my take on it:

P7311910

I’ve used Echo Park Thankful series, and used one of the photos from our day out at Perahora.  Just a few of us in this photo, but we are all so happy that I just had to scrap it …

The hidden journalling is tucked away above the photo:

P7311909

Just because I wanted the focal point to be the photo and couldn’t fit it on my page … LOL So decided to tuck it away!

Another closeup:

Art Journal: Come fly with me!

Another double page that I finished yesterday …

I started the background by just applying two distress inks, working them in … both with the pads directly as well as with the spong applicator …

P7301904

Then I did the ghost effect, applying water to the stamp, pressing down on the paper, they wiping away the excess …

P7301905

Next step was to stamp with green distress ink, then I doodled all around and on the leaves …

 P7301906

I created the title and Zentangled it with glitter pens …

 P7301907

Lastly added the butterflies … The huge one is a sizzix diecut … and the small ones are a Martha Stewart punch …

 P7301908

In general I really like this effect, and will definitely be using it again!!!

Have a great evening!

Art Journal: Summer Days

As you can imagine I’ve had a great time playing in my art journals … have been experimenting with acryllic paints making different backgrounds … then go back and see where I can take it from there ….

I just get so caught up that I forget to take photos in between stages …

Here’s another finished one:

P7291889

The large fern stamp is a foam stamp to use on walls … but it suited me just fine …

 P7291890

I drew the boat and coloured in with water coloured markers … played with the ocean and the ‘trees’ on the shore!

 P7291891

Added the alphabet beads … it’s so good to use up older supplies!!!

Hope you are enjoying your Summer Days!!!

The layout that I want to share today was totally inspired by Ann Freeman’s class over on the ATDML Cyber Crop class 12 …  I know that the crop is over, but I really liked their classes and aim to finish them in my sweet time …

Art Journal: The Secret Ingredient in Life …

… is family!!!

P7251879

Inspired by a quote on a Webster’s sheet of paper …

I’ve used Maya Road’s mist, then added the side papers, then the doodling, the quote, the stamped flower, and the filling in with Sakura glitter pens, and finally the 3 children from another Webster page … I love this image!!!

Art Journal: Change your Thoughts

Here is another double page in my larger journal that I finished late last night … I had started it on Saturday … I spritzed pools of Dylusion inks, then let it sit … and then added Mr Huey White mist with a mask over it … Here is what came of that:

P7221899

My final stage:

P7251885

I added with a brown Maya Road mist the stencil to the right … then with rub ons I wrote my quote …

Some closeups:

P7251887

I chose two different letterings of rubons and I went around them with Starburst Glitter pens … filling in the letters with a white paint marker.

 P7251888

I truly believe that with a change of attitude and thoughts our world does become different … isn’t it fabulous how the white gives it such depth?

 P7251889

II love the vibrant colours of the Dylusion inks!

 P7251886

The stencil didn’t come out perfect, but i’m not bothered by that … I know what I did ‘wrong’ … LOL … and will take care in the future!

Art Journal: Let’s Party all night

Here is another double page that I finished on Saturday … for those of you who know me will not be surprised to hear that I had three things on the go at the same time … I had my two journal books open, and a layout on the table, at the end of the creative session I had completed one layout, nearly finished a second one [it was missing two items that I had left at home], one double page finished [the one below] another one almost completed [yesterdays entry When the Dandelions Roar] the the start of a third double page in my journal … but that needs a bit of work done to it ….

Any way, let’s get back to this page …. it was inspired after reading THIS BLOG ENTRY, by Jenny Boxall where she suggests that we use gesso on a mask / stencil that use a similar stamp … and that is what I did … I tried out my friends new Dylusion mists … and this is the result!

P7221891

After the gesso had dried [naturally] I misted and let that dry … then I went over with my Creative expressions bubble stamp, and the Artemio double line border stamp …

 P7221888

I then used this American craft clear sticker frame and add the title with my tiny alphabets … for good measure I covered it with a coating of CH’s matte medium so that they don’t come undone ….

 P7221889

Then on a sheet of thick [210 gr] paper I stamped the lady from the Artful Lady collection and coloured her in with ProMarkers, and put a little bit of glitter on her wings!

I like this page because it’s bright and happy … and the colours are so vibrant up close!

Art Journal: Listen to the Dandelions Roar

On Saturday I was visiting with a friend and we had decided to play with her new mists … I must say, that I have tried a few brands now: Cosmic Shimmers, shimmerz, Tattered Angels, Maya Mists, Mr Hueys … but the Dylusions ones are REALLY lush … nice bright colours that are water reactive so you can get lovely effects simply by spraying water on it ….

Anyway here is my finished piece:

P7221894

I would like to enter it in the July challenge for The Artist stampers Creative team blog … Their challenge was to used circles and some rubber stamping …

The title ‘came’ to me when Natasa said that the design reminds her of dandelions … at that point I had stamped the circles and stuck down the American craft sticker in the corner …. it was a dandelion effect that I was going for … Playing with the words … and the Oxymoron of silence of a dandelion  vs the Roar of a Dande LION! … it just made sense! 🙂

P7221895

It doesn’t look like a sticker but it is …. it’s clear around and in between the design so it sits nicely on the page …

The dotted circle stamps are two different sizes, and well as the small flower design is from an Artemio background set …

P7221896

I’ve used a plaid stencil and gessoed that first, then misted with 3 different colours …

P7221897

The Dandelion stamp that you can see especially in this part is a Unity stamp … it also had a stem  and leaves, but I only inked the top part and used my hands to press down the image and not a block … that’s why the image is  not 100% crisp, but then again that was what I was aiming for …

P7221898

And lastly, this morning on my balcony while drinking coffee I went in with my pens adding the doodled border, and around the stamps …

I hope you’ve enjoyed the photos … will have more to show you soon …
