ATDML – Challenge 3 Read all about it!

Saturday again, and as I have a few free hours I decided to put some ideas done on paper …

So here is my take for Challenge 3

Gone but not forgotten … get those hankies ready, if you read the journalling it’s a tear jerker!!!

Details of title:

Top corner … I took the paper apart, distressed it, and reattached it on a cardstock … using 3d foampads for the outer edge …..

I found doing this layout very emotional … so I’m taking a small break to have some lunch, then will be back with something more uplifting!

ATDML Challenge 1 & Art Journal pages

Good morning … this past weekend I had been incredibly creative and I managed to finish two more things that I wanted to share with you ….

First off, more of the A Trip Down Memory Lane challenges … this is my take on Challenge 1 – Stamp your Feet!

You have to use stamps on your layout, card, tag …

I’ve got my unity stamps out for a little 6×6 page …

atml challenge 1

I will have more to tell you about these 6×6 pages in a later post … :)  The ATDML challenges end on Sunday so you still have plenty of time to join in … I’m slowly trying to get all of them done!

The second thing I want to show you is another double spread in my Art Journal …

P6241762

This was so much fun to do … lots of mediums on there … decided to get out the crackle paint and some 3d paint, and to use a new stencil …

Here are some closer details:

Today I’m off for coffee after work so I don’t think I’ll get any crafting done … already thinking about what to do with my Wednesday afternoon!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

ATDML On Line Crop

Today, the shop A Trip Down -Memory Lane is holding an on line crop that you can see on their blog … So far there are 5 Classes and 2 challenges going ….

When I heard about it, I thought that it would be perfect for me as I am ‘free’ this weekend … and as I haven’t had a lot of creative me time, I thought I deserved it! 🙂

I decided to go ahead and do Class 2 which is a lovely Mini-Travelling-Hanging-Scrapbook-Library … it’s a little mini foldable box that is about 10.5 x 8 cm …

I used Black Coredination paper as the base, cut it down to A4 paper and ran it thru my printer and printed the template directly onto it … and then Graphic 45 Curious shop as the pattern paper …

P6231746

And here is a side view, so you can see the embossed inner boxes ….

P6231744

I also glued baker’s twine under the bottom paper, so that I can just tie it close!

And here is the inner hanging version ….

P6231747

I’ve decided to use the minibooks as a place to write down quotes that I can across that I find inspirational … I’ve also used used stickers from the 7 gypsy quote sheet as embellishments …

This is such a FUN project and a huge THANK YOU to Jane Hewitt for her time, instructions, and inspiration!!!!

I plan on doing another one with summer blues for my summer in Naxos to write down memorable events … may even make one with the grandkids for my mom!!!

Auntie Lena’s advice – Art Journal pages

Did you  think that I had forgotten my art journal?

Of course not, it’s just a creative journey progress, and it takes a while before I can say that a page is finished …

So here we have another completed double page:

P6231736

I started this out about 20 days ago, took it along with me to the crop that we did at Katerina’s place, played with her chicken wire stencil, and her birdie maskes … played with Zeffy’s H2O twinkly  paints [the yellow in the birdie] … then gave a try with image transfering using Claudine Hellmuth’s Studio multi-medium matte …

I know it’s not perfect, but I love the way the underneath layers peak through …

Look at some close ups:

P6231742 P6231740

I think it’s such a cool effect, and I love how it’s all so see-though-ish without the added bulk … if you know what I mean???

The piece of advice is:

Experience is not what happens to you, but what you do with what happens to you … so girls LIVE YOUR LIVES!!!

What more can an auntie say? Eh???

I saw the quote used by Ronda on  her own cover of her new art journal book!

Card Mojo is here!!!

It seems so strange to me, but yes I’ve been having a bit of card mojo these days!!!

I’ve started my summer classes, and even though there are fewer hours which means there is less $$$$ there are plenty of ++++

  1. I work mornings so my afternoons are free
  2. I have time to enjoy an afternoon nap
  3. I sleep by midnight so I’m up by 7 am which gives me a good 2 hours to do whatever I want before I leave.
  4. I have no homework [nothing to correct when I get home]
  5. Did I already mention that I have my afternoons free????

So back to the topic at hand … cards, cards, and more cards ….

The first card:

P6211719

This I had thought up originally for Natasa’s challenge on the Scrapbooker’s on-line crop, but I just didn’t have enough time to do it then … but I wanted to get it done anyways ….

P6211715

I found the saying on line, so printed it off my PC, misted the paper … and added the funky paper clips which I bought a while ago at Jumbo ….

You can actually take out the paper clips and use them … bookmarks maybe?

P6211717

As you have probably guessed by now I have an incredible fondness for the easel card!!!

My second card is for a new challenge blog … It’s called Addicted to stamps and my friend Marie is a DT member there … [Congratulations again Marie] …. they will be having a weekly challenge and once a month it will be a layout challenge as well …

Anyway this week’s challenge is called ‘Make your Mark’ & you could do whatever you wanted as long as you used your markers … we all know how I love my promarkers even though it’s been a while since I’ve used them …

So here is my card:

P6211720

The image is a Sarah Kay one and I’ve used my promarkers … although it’s orginally an Xmas image I love to use it for Birthday cards ….

P6211721

Here is a close up of the colouring … what do you think of the resin flowers ??? I’m totally in love with them … I got them from another friend Channa who I’ve already told you about her new SHOP …. well, I thought the colours would be perfect for this card!!!!

P6211722

Final closeup of bottom edge of the easel card ….

Well, it’s off to work I go now, hopefully I’ll be back soon with more stuff to show you!!! 🙂 🙂

Scrapbookers on-line Crop!!

It’s been a busy week, and unfortunately work had to take priority … but I owe a post as to what I was up to 2 Saturdays ago …

I ended up meeting with friends [the organizers of the crop] and I actually got a new of the other challenges done myself!

Here is what I managed to do …

First of all Katerina’s sketch … here’s my layout:

Katerina is just 6 years old here, it’s she just the cutest???

I next did Irini’s tag challenge … I was working on the two of them at the same time ….

tags

I’m sure that I will find somewhere to use them!!!

Finally I made this cute recycled pencil holder …

Get Creative Sketch Challenge

Good morning everyone ….

It seems that wordpress is not showing my photos in the post but you have to press on the link to see them … sorry if this causes inconvenience … will have to look into this …

Anyway, this month we have a fabulous sketch to play with created by our DT member Elina Katechi!

The moment that I saw this sketch I knew exactly what I wanted to do!!! Does this happen to you? It just ‘spoke’ to me!!!

Here is my take:

P6051667

My nieces Sofia & Katerina looking in a mirror in the old town of Naxos …

I’ve used Graphic 45 – Old shoppe collection which I think suits the sketch … fussy cutting and layering of papers …

The mirror is from Sfragidomania! I used Vintage stain paint to do the ‘wooden’ part of it, and stickles to create the mirror …

I also played around with the photo of the girls as I printed it twice, enlarging / cropping the right photo, and keeping the left photo as the correct size …

Here is the original photo for you to see:

Here are some details:

P6051665

I cut the title with my Bigshot, and traced around the letters with a glitter pen.

P6051663

Detail of flower cluster … the small flowers I use are from iamroses

Close up of the mirror!

You have until June 29th the upload your layout, for a lovely chance to win a prize from a fabulous new shop:
