Caution: A boy lives here!

Time to show you the last layout from Aigina, and the one that earned me the nickname Guru Gonzales!!! LOL

Caution: A boy lives here

On Sunday morning, after having a leisure hour’s coffee / chat with Aleka, buying my return ticket, and having the group coffee by the sea, we decided to do some more scrapping.  It was 11 am by that time, and the ship was departing at 1.30 for us!!

I had promised to show the girls how I made my own paper design using misting, masking, stamping … and this is the page I made while  showing them a few tricks!

So we were discussing how to turn it into a layout … and I said let me show you … and in a matter of minutes … with a few touches here and there, and a few quick decisions … it was finished!!!!

When I announced that layout number four was finished …

Zeffy exclaimed:

Oh mannnn Eleni … you put us to shaaammme … you are Guru Gonzales!!!

Weekend at Aigina

This weekend [Saturday morning – Sunday 1.30 pm] I was on Aigina island, along with my other ‘scrappy’ friends, Elvira, Irini, Zeffy, Efi visiting Aleka.  We had hubbies and children along with us too, and it was an incredible bonding experience!

We created, we laughed, we enjoyed coffee, lunch, evening drinks, and a brilliant breakfast RIGHT by the sea … we enjoyed evening strolls …

It was a brilliant experience and one that must be repeated!!!

A True Spirit of Inspiration

Once upon a Sketch had a challenge up on June 1st to use this sketch:

June 1st - Nadia's sketch

… to make a layout about a woman, and to journal about her in 2-3 sentences …

Well, the days kept passing, I did other layouts, I did the DT assignments first so that I wouldn’t  stress out, and on the 14th, I was chatting with my dear friend Zeffy, after waking up from a nap … and I was telling her about my dilemma … should I or shouldn’t I do it … who should I scrap about … I can’t find an inspiring photo, blah … blah … blah ….

and she jokingly says:  Do me!

 … and I did!!!

Granted the photo that I had of her was taken last Christmas at her house where we had all got together to scrap and share in some Christmas cheer, but did that stop me?  NO!

[LOL, I can hear her voice right now: “Oh mannnnn, Eleeeni … hey you’ll make me rezili!!!” – that was my best South African imitation]

Here it is:

A True Spirit of Inspiration

Zeffy is one of my ”scrappy’ friends that I met thru the scrapbooking.gr forum … From the first moment I knew that I had a kindred spirit in her, crazy about life, about our hobby, great sense of humour, who I could laugh with, who made me laugh to0! A jolly soul, a listener as well as a talker! What can I  say, life is definitely richer with her in it!!!

Some details:

chipboard accents, ribbon, paper / sticker strips ...

I’ve used Echo Parks Christmas pack [don’t remember it’s exact name]. The paper itself had the scallop circle on it, but I wanted it to jump off the page to give the illusion that it was a page on a page … so using the cropodile I cut out the holes off the four sides that I could, and placed gems on the other ‘holes’ .

I had some snow flake chipboard pieces from an old Sarah’s Card Kit, which I painted with Gesso to get them white … then I used some of them as masks to mist the paper, so I ended up with some blue ones, then decided that I needed some red ones to add to the embellished pieces!

Title -sticker alphas, Unity stamp on canvas paper

All the while that I was doing this layout I had the chat open at Scrapbookers in Greece … talking to Zeffy and others … told her that I was having trouble with the Title … [I’m usually VERY good at coming up with titles]

So I went thru my Unity stamps looking for inspiration, and I found the word inspiration … and as Zeffy is dressed up as ‘Mother Christmas’ I thought the word SPIRIT would be suitable … and then while doing the journaling  it all came together … because she really is a true spirit of inspiration for a lot of  us!!

journaling, hanging snow flakes!

It’s all about the journaling, and I think it says  it all!

Clustering embellies

Lots of stuff there: Fancy Pants snowflake glitter cut, the dies, stickers from the Echo park sheet, and I’ve put the two birdies. Zeffy likes owls so I stamped the Unity owl and dressed her in Santa’s hat … isn’t she a HOOT?? [I’m talking about the owl and not Zeffy! 🙂 LOL]

Detail of masking - misting - die and gems!

Unfortunately by the time I was halfway into the creative process I remembered that Once upon a sketch is on Australian time, and when I went to look I saw that the deadline was already up … but that didn’t stop me, and I kept on going, until I finished hours later, satisfied with the end result!

Finally a side view to get a 3D feel of layout.

This weekend I’m going away to Aigina, along with some ‘scrappy’ friends and their families … if you can and want to, come along with us … we are definitely going to have fun!  Info is on the Scrapbookers in Greece forum

Time to get organised and pack page kits … so I don’t know if I’ll have any more of my layouts to show you before Monday!

Get Creative June 15th Challenge

Chrysa has designed another lovely sketch for this month …

June 15th sketch

The photo that I wanted to scrap was horizontal so I decided to flip the sketch …

rotated version

This is my take on the sketch:

Amazing Friends

This is a photo of me [far left], Sabine from US, Nicky from English, Tina from Scotland, Kate from England, and Cecilie from Norway is taking the photo!

Some amazing friends, who when they heard that I was going to the UK in 2003, decided that we should all meet up for a few days … Amazing trip, amazing friends, amazing memories … that’s why I’m also entering this layout in the Bird is the  Word challenge which is to use the word AMAZE / AMAZING – I’m on a roll now!

Some close ups:

stamping, gems, glossy accent

title banner, small cluster

clustering

Some serious clustering going on in this corner … webster paper cut outs, eyelet outlet rhinestone & cameo broach brad, lace [gift from Enjoy Scrapping], small flowers, stamping & embossing, & epoxy buttons. This is inspired by a new class called Cluster Muster by Alyssa McGrew over at Miss Art’s Papercrafting.

Well time for you to get over to the BLOG to check out the over DT’s amazing work!!

Don’t forget GET CREATIVE … and maybe you’ll be the winner of a wonderful prize!!!

Baby is One layout

Before I start with my own layout, I have to say how much I love Eudokia’s June 10th tutorial over on the Get Creative Challenge Blog!

She has these ingenious ideas when it comes to thinking outside of the box, you definitely have to check it and HER out! 🙂

Okay, now back to my most recent layout ….

This is totally inspired by the Around the Block lesson by Jamie Harder over on Miss Art’s Papercrafting School! Jamie is on the  Teressa Collins Design Team, and I love  her clear layouts …

This is what I made:

Baby is ONE

As you can see … the main focus is using a grid template!

What is different this time around is that I’ve used B&W photos … I’ve noticed that a lot of scrappers use them and I decided to give it a try … I must say that I love the result here, and I can understand why people use them.

The little boy in the photo is Tony, the women in the centre is his aunt Kathy [my cousin] and the lady in the bottom left is his grandmother [my Aunt Mary].

I’ve used Webster pages, my own misted made paper, a tag that I had made, some 3d letter and star stickers, &  birdie brads from Eyelet Outlet.

Some close ups:

journaling, overlap of pattern paper

title, my own paper

my paper on top”], my paper on top “]

more embellies

Here I have a post about misting and masking … not to throw the excess mist away I had flipped it over on another blank page, so I continued to add to it, and this is what it came out to:

misting and masking!

This is what I’ve cut up and used in the layout!

Hope you like this layout!
