Ah, life is so exciting around here, in my little world …
Today is a National Holiday, and I had the day off work …
I actually woke up in the best of moods and decided to tackle my wardrobe closet, and pack away my summer clothes and get the winter clothes out of hiding …
Then I thought, why not tackle my paper … yes, the piles and piles of cardstock and pattern paper that is all over the place …
So I started organising my full sheets, and then in the middle, I took down all the pizza boxes that were piled up …
and I found an old project …
I started it in the summer on 2008, and it was all in a box … I looked thru the prompts, it wasn’t finished, but I had done enough to put a full stop to it!
… the chipboard covers were cut, … so I decided to finish it off, so that I could put away all the rest of the embellies and papers that were in the box …
Nothing better than having a feeling that something else is finally complete … and it was sooooo much fun rereading my thoughts and admiring my pages …
Here is the LINK to the project !
… and here is the finished cover!!!
… well, time to get back to organising my paper!!! 🙂 🙂
Today is St. Dimitris Day and it’s my lovely nephews nameday …
Shakespeare asked:
“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.”Does it mean that I love Dimitraki more because he is named after my father, or would I have loved him less if he were not?
No, of course not!
But it’s such a lovely feeling hearing the words, Chronia polla, again today, on this day, knowing that we have once again a Dimitraki to say Happy Nameday to!
It brings a smile to my face, even though there are bittersweet tears in my eyes, for our other Dimitri who is no more but never forgotten! 🙂
I know that my brother shares my feelings as we’ve already spoken today! 🙂
I’ve finished yet another layout …
This time it’s for the Once Upon a Time challenge, which I really wanted to do, as it was very original … the journaling requirements were to write about:
A most embarrassing/awkward/uncomfortable moment or characteristic/feature/habit/mannerism/quality or quirk you or someone around you possesses. Journal at least 2 SENTENCES on a moment that you will remember for all the wrong reasons.
… and we had to use the following sketch:
God knows I have done some embarrassing things over the years, but to have it captured on film … well it’s been years since I’ve let others photograph me … So this was an opportunity to look thru older albums and take a trip down memory lane …
So I travel you back to 1997, my first trip to the UK, with my cousins Anastasia & Katerina … I was so young then, crazy, and very spontaneous … LOL
Finding myself in an English speaking environment after spending years in Greece, unleashed a crazy side to me … seriously!! One of the most quirky things was my reaction when we were in parks and I would see squirrels, pigeons and ducks …
When I would see ducks I would start quacking, and quacking without even knowing that I would do it … LOL … it would come out, from deep within me! Suffice to say, that my cousins would start hooting whenever I’d do that, and they were waiting to capture it on film!
So it this photo I’m doing my little quack song, and even a dance … LOL I’ve journaled on the tag about this embarrassing habit, and how now looking back I’m wondering whatever was I thinking!!!!
The layout:
I’ve used Echo Park: Victoria gardens paper pack, as it was suitable as the photo was taken in Regent’s Park in the UK.
Close ups:
The photo was not taken with a digital camera, and I have so many more photos that I’d love to scrap some day! 🙂
Well, staying in did good for my creative nature,
as I’ve managed to finish another layout!
This one is simpler, done without a sketch and not for a challenge.
The paper ‘spoke’ to me and I knew the right photo for it!
I know that the kids are young, but I believe their character is already showing … if there is anyone who I believe would travel, or fly high it’s Katerina.
She’s got such an adventurous spirit, loves to explore, learn new things … I also love that she travel thru the lens of a camera …
Once again I’ve used paint om my paper, to make a frame for the photo, to paint a bit of red on the air balloons and to paint the chipboard air balloons [they are from Sfragidomania]. I’ve made the holes in the photo and distressed the edges to give it a more feel of blending with the photo.
I’ve used the stickers from the kit … which made a fabulous title, with the two different sizes enclosed!
I’ve added the Tim Holtz clock, and another chipboard accent!
I’ve cut the paper and slid the photo underneath …
Good afternoon everyone!
This week has flown by again, more strikes, and thankfully my lovely boss provided a ride home on two occasions …
From Thursday onwards I started to feel a bit ill, and this weekend I’ve cancelled everything and just stayed home, rested, ate healthily, and had a chance to play a bit!
I’ve signed up with Shimelle’s new Pretty Paper Party Class and I totally agree with her philosophy of using our pretty paper while we love them!
I’ve been enjoying her prompts while drinking my hot tea with honey, and have even incorporated a new of her tips in the following layout!
So here is the layout that I have to share with you:
My Our Story Together
I’m entering this layout in the Bird is the Word challenge: Together!
I have used the 10.13 Sketchy Thursday sketch … a bit late with the layout for the challenge but since I had started it with that sketch I wanted to finish it! 🙂 So thanks girls for the great sketches and inspiration!
I had started this layout on Tuesday, I had taken along my Webster About me kit which I had picked up at the Craft fair the previous weekend from Lena of Enjoy Scrapbooking, my first 12×12 papers from Webster! I usually just buy the 6×6 paper packs … but having seen the kit up close I couldn’t resist it, and as Shimelle says, I’m using it while I love it!!!
BTW I had so much fun at that Craft fair, I was the lucky winner of something scrapbooking, I won a free entry to Cherry Nest’s new online class, Every day is Christmas!!!!
Ooops, see why my blog is called But first I …
Back to the layout … so I started with this paper:
Once Zeffy & Irini saw the paper and the sketch they both said it would look great if I could print my journalling directly on the paper … well as I don’t have a 12×12 printer, I thought I would do the next best thing and that was to cut it up! 🙂
Using the rear side as well …
I was able to add more coordination to balance the layout!!
Some close ups:
I’ve used the sew easy banner to stitch the banner and inspired by Shimelle’s video extra I used red paint to accent it, to give it a bit more red pattern!
I’ve raised only part of the paper with 3D foam pads a little trick that I picked up in a Miss Art’s Papercrafting class! It’s lovely when I learn new tricks & I start using them without even thinking! I’ve used stickles to give it a little extra ummmphhh!
More stitching!!!! some bling, and the journaling using different fonts and highlighting words is another trick that I’ve picked up from a Miss Art’s class!!
Added a bit of red paint again to tie with the whole effect …
and finally a side view:
Things I can’t live without!
Together Forever!!!
Well life continues to be busy,
not just with work, even have managed a bit of socialising! 🙂
Today I have a layout to share with you …
I started this one on Friday at my friend Irini’s house!
It was so much fun to sit, create, drink coffee and chat …
so I guess there is a positive side to strikes eh? 🙂
It felt so good, have input from a friend, that’s what I love about scrapping with company!
So, here is my layout:
In the photo is my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew Dimitraki … it will probably go into his book! 🙂
I’m entering this in Bird is the word as I used YOU & ME!
I didn’t want to use it as a title as automatically Family Ties came to mind when I picked up the photo, and that’s why there is all that stitching and ties!! 🙂
Some close ups:
I really love the combination of blue, pink and brown!!! 🙂
Thank you for dropping by!
On Saturday, which was a go, go, go day,
I managed to spend a few hours creating with friends again!
This time, I actually had a goal!
I wanted to make a card, and a minibook for my cousin Kathy who was hosting a party that evening … and I’m happy to say that I managed to finish both!
For the card I was inspired by the 1st card challenge at Get Creative!
Elina has challenged us to use layers of papers to create a card, and even though I can’t qualify for the gift, that doesn’t stop me from taking part! 😉
I only brought papers with me, I’ve used Katerina’s stamps, [image & sentiment] and die cut machine to make the shape of the card!
I only had paper and 2 inkpads with me, I’ve used Katerina’s stamps, punches, and bigz dies! 🙂 🙂 Thank you to our beautiful hostess!!! 🙂
I had a wonderful time! I hope we do it again soon!
