This week’s challenge was an interesting one for me as far as the suggested topics were … but I wasn’t too crazy about the colours … I just have to thank Michele Singh once again, because this time I used a lot of her elements!
Here is the case:
… and here is my take on it:
My title says: Book Eater … and I know that the correct English term is a Bookworm, but I did a literal translation from the Greek ‘ Βιβλιοφάγος ‘ as it suited the idea of monsters and ‘devouring’ our books more …
Evidence: I’ve used book pages, monsters, metal [the ABC on the rug beside Michaelia, and the tiara & hat on our heads], moon, and I’ve created a frame by stamping the books in white and using the books to give it a bit of colour!
Testimony:
I’ve documented about my feelings towards books and written it in chapter form … it’s actually is a little booklet to my right:
My journaling reads: Chapter one
Books have always been an important part of my life. I learnt to read at a young age and being brought up in Canada, public libraries were always a walking distance away.
Chapter two
When I came to Greece, to learn the language better, I started reading Greek books. I devoured them, literally, going through young teen books first, until I felt more confident in the language going thru all the classics. But it was a family affair, Mom, aunts, cousins, all would enjoy a good book.
Chapter three
One winter we got into the habit of reading books aloud. I’ve spent plenty evenings, listening to and reading novels.
Chapter four
When my nieces came along I bought them their first books when they were 2 months old. First plastic and cloth ones, slowly pictures then words. Katerina and Sofia now read books of their own and they so enjoy it. The even suggest many books to me to read.
Chapter five
Now, April 2012, we have our new family ‘book eaters’ Michaelia and Dimitri who both enjoy reading their books. Nice that we can sit as a family each devouring their own book!
