Words of Wisdom

Good morning today, I have another layout to share with you … it had been a productive weekend last weekend!

Introducing Dimitris again … hasn’t he grown?

001

I love this photo of him … such a serious look … like he’s about to say something very serious …

The papers are from the This and That collection by EchoPark and it was perfect for the photo … a little bit of masking and misting … and voila!

002

I’ve gone over the misted area with a glitter pen to highlight it …

003

The title a mixture of stickers, and die cuts … the banner a bit of baker’s twine and stickers.

005

A close up of the hidden tag that writes this quote:

"Remember this, that very little is needed to make a happy life." — Marcus  Aurelius

This layout was created for a challenge on another group that I’m on!

CSI Case no. 15 – Book eater

This week’s challenge was an interesting one for me as far as the suggested topics were … but I wasn’t too crazy about the colours … I just have to thank Michele Singh once again, because this time I used a lot of her elements!

Here is the case:

… and here is my take on it:

013

My title says: Book Eater … and I know that the correct English term is a Bookworm, but I did a literal translation from the Greek ‘ Βιβλιοφάγος ‘ as it suited the idea of monsters and ‘devouring’ our books more …

Evidence: I’ve used book pages, monsters, metal [the ABC on the rug beside Michaelia, and the tiara & hat on our heads], moon, and I’ve created a frame by stamping the books in white and using the books to give it a bit of colour!

Testimony:

I’ve documented about my feelings towards books and written it in chapter form … it’s actually is a little booklet to my right:

019

My journaling reads: Chapter one

Books have always been an important part of my life. I learnt to read at a young age and being brought up in Canada, public libraries were always a walking distance away.

Chapter two

When I came to Greece, to learn the language better, I started reading Greek books. I devoured them, literally, going through young teen books first, until I felt more confident in the language going thru all the classics. But it was a family affair, Mom, aunts, cousins, all would enjoy a good book.

Chapter three

One winter we got into the habit of reading books aloud.  I’ve spent plenty evenings, listening to and reading novels.

Chapter four

When my nieces came along I bought them their first books when they were 2 months old. First plastic and cloth ones, slowly pictures then words. Katerina and Sofia now read books of their own and they so enjoy it. The even suggest many books to me to read.

Chapter five

Now, April 2012, we have our new family ‘book eaters’ Michaelia and Dimitri who both enjoy reading their books. Nice that we can sit as a family each devouring their own book!

Good Friday with great news!!!

Today was another fantastically busy day …

My day started out with the great news that I made the top 3 at the Frosted Designs challenge blog for my layout Fun for all for the Friday banner challenge.  I’m so thrilled as I think this is actually the first time that my layout has been chosen for the top spots!!!

Then I went to my brother’s house, and the girls were waiting for me.  Off to church we went, to see the burial of Jesus Christ.  It is such a moving ceremony and I often end up in tears.

We left around 12.30 and headed toward the seaside.  We had a lovely walk and took lots of photos along the way.

They posed as well, I’ve got plenty of good shots today!!

Then we sat and I had a coffee the girls something to eat … and we took some more photos!

This is what the girls made for me, and greeted me with when I arrived.  They’ve recycled older wrapping paper that I had sent them.

And when we got back from our walk, we ate our lunch and the girls got busy crafting … and I asked time to check emails … But they make me these!!!

P4130459

Then the little ones got up from their afternoon nap …

Daddy was home to play with them …

Finally out again we went with the girls … to church and to follow the procession around the town … here the ‘Epitaphios’ from the 3 churches meet up …

All in all a fantastic day ….

Και του χρόνου να’μαστε καλά να τα ξανακάνουμε!!!

Looking to the Future

Well, it’s 1 am and I am leaving in the morning … around 6 am … to go to the port to head for my Easter holidays … Have I packed my last minute things? No … have I gone to sleep early? No … what am I doing???

Finishing a layout of course!  What can I do? I totally loved this week’s CSI case, that I couldn’t pass up doing it …

My take on it?

Doesn’t the photo suit the colours to a T?

Evidence: I’ve used ruffled ribbon, wet medium [mists], and I’ve used small beads to represent something sand-like.

Testimony: I’ve written a ‘haiku’ poem, and spread it over 3 journaling spots.

Some close ups:

A haiku poem is normally 3 lines, with 7-5-7 syllables in the lines. The poems says:

While staring at your beauty

I contemplate who?

Child or woman are you now?

Magically you have grown,

Now you stand on the edge,

Looking forward to the future.

May God always protect you,

Keep you safe and well

Guide you in the years to come.

017

I’ve also used the word FUTURE in the title so I’m entering the layout in Bird is the word!

012

Buttons and beads … close up of misting …

019

Other corner of buttons and beads!

Well I hope you like this … to all my Greek friends Happy Easter!

Dream Team – CSI # 13

CSI have another fabulous weekly challenge, and I’ve left it until the very end to submit my entry … the weekend is when I have the most time to contemplate and think about my layouts … I hope to be able to get the next one done BEFORE I leave for my Easter holidays!!!

Here we go … the case file:

Here is my take on it:

009

I believe I’ve solved the case:

Evidence:

I’ve used hearts and twine.

Testimony:

I’ve documented about ‘playing’ with my friends, I’ve tucked the journalling behind the photo, I’ve written it in a circle.

007

The journalling reads: It’s so much fun to have friends to play with! Age plays no role. We laugh, we inspire each other, encouraging, we are a dream team!

Some more details:

006

I’m also entering this layout in Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday challenge as they asked us to use banners!!!

This photo is me with my scrappy friends: Zeffy, Stella, Katerina & Roula! It’s a bit blurry, but I don’t care, I just wanted to scrap it! It’s perfect in my eyes!

Thank you for dropping by!

Have a great week everyone!
