Yesterday afternoon / evening Mom and I as well as other relatives went to my cousin’s place, to help Tony blow out his first candle!!! So many people cooing over this little boy …
I think a mini is in order for my auntie again … 🙂
Officially my first layout of 2011,
and thanks to the wonderful challenge blog
Get Creative with Crafty Croppers Gr
You have until the end of the month to create a layout with the title
Hello 2011
or
Goodbye 2010.
I chose to look towards the future and this is my take on it!
The photo is actually taken on New Year’s Day at the hotel where I was staying on Naxos, and I wanted to record ‘how’ I was on the day.
Papers and some of the elements used are from Sarah’s cards kit May 2010. I’ve used a lot of inking, double matting to make the photo pop, rubons and stitching …
Some close ups:
So 2011, I’m ready and looking forward to what the year will bring!
Why don’t you go over to the Get Creative blog to see what my fellow DT members came up with! Amazing work!!!
One of my promises to myself, is that I will get ahead of the card game this year!! Have some cards already made, as I never seem to have time when I truly need a card!
So what better way to get ahead of the game than Sassy Lil Card Sketches …
Here is January 14th sketch
The good news is that starting from February there will be a new Card challenge blog with the Sassy Team!!!
So go over to the blog and check out the inspiration!!!
January 8th at St. Nikodimos Church, we baptised Michaelia and Dimitri, my niece and nephew, at 6.30 pm. It was a lovely event. The children cried when they were dunked into the water, but they were quick to recover and were very good with their godfathers!
Afterwards we went to the restaurant where the reception was held. All tables decorated beautifully with potted plans, and flowers than people took home with them when they left. There was live music, dancing, lots of food being served fresh, and regular intervals until 3 am in the morning … kind of reminded you of old banquets in the middle ages!!!
There was a clown early on for the younger children, and the table where the two christening books were displayed with candies and huge lolly pops as treats …
Everyone had a fab time, the two young ones stayed until 2 am, so everyone could have fun [meaning the grandmas who usually end up baby sitting and missing the events]. The rest of us stayed until 6 am!!!
Lots of laughter, joy, and positive energy, a great way to finish off my trip to Naxos!!!
I feel so blessed for the family I have!
Here are some photos for you, because a picture is worth a thousand words!!!
… is the place that I was staying for the 8 days that I was in Naxos. My brother is BFs with the owner. He’s godfather to his son. During my stay only guest of the christening were guests at the hotel, so it was all ours.
We had a special lunch where the men prepared the meat and the ladies did the salads and appetizers!
Of course dancing was a must …
So here are some photos from the Hotel, surrounding area, and lunch with friends and family!
During this trip, the girls: Katerina and Sofia, and I did your ritual exploring trip. This means that we enter the old town and just get lost. This was our third time doing it, and we have more fun every time we do it. We always find new alleys, different buildings and views to wow over.
Sometimes I take the photos, sometimes the girls do.
We have fun, we exercise, and we leave Mommy alone for a good 2 hours so get on with other stuff! LOL
I wonder if there will ever be a time when I can take all 4 kids on an exploration??? Eh???
Well, I’m back from Naxos, had a brilliant time, and time to catch up with blog posts! I’ll be dating them in the right order, so I ask for forgiveness to those of you who subscribe and will be getting a box full of messages with past dates !!
To start off, I have to show you the pen holder that I decorated so that the pens wouldn’t be all over the table where the books would be displayed:
Found the pencil holder at Plaisio for about 2 Euros, and as it was baby blue, I put a pink ribbon around it. Have to thank my mom for tying it. Stuck it down with the glue gun, and added the rose and the crackled crown (left over from previous christening book I did in Sept. cut by Sfradigomania)
Next was a layout with instructions to the guests:
This needed to be made as many people would not have known what to do with the Christening books. The challenge is that I did this ON NAXOS!!
The only things that I had with me from Athens was the names of the twins at the base (cut from Sfragidomania) and their photos!
I ended up visiting a local bookshop called KATSOURIS and I was able to find: cardstock, pink/blue twine, greek letter stickers, and small punches – butterflies, hearts, bears.
The girls had scissors that cut it decorative edges (may actually have bought them myself on previous trip), and some pattern paper (that I had again given them!)
I made a huge easel card base (20 x 20 cm) put in extra cardboard to support it.
Next the two books:
I have to thank Sfragidomania for cutting the designs for me, and my friend Katerina Lailopoulou who gave me permission to use her designs!!
If you press on the photos you can see the details better … I’ve hand stitched the buttons and on the pockets.
Here are the first two interior pages of each book:
To make things easier I decided to go for pockets in each book, enabling me to use tags, which then I was able to give to the less mobile and more shy people to write their wish on!
Here are my wishes for the children:
Sorry but these are in Greek, and a bit difficult to translate. I did an acronym of their names.
A candid shot of Katerina signing in the book!
Everyone loved the books, and I got a lot of positive comments from family, friends and guests! I’m so happy that I was able to do these … it was funny when the eldest twins asked me, where are our books aunty??
So how is January going for you so far!
I’m still on holidays but I thought you might like a bit of inspiration …
Why don’t you check out the new sketch
