Is there a more an hero inducing image?
>>3229461>>3229195These don’t work in 3/4 or perspective, though, you can clearly see it on the gif.Which is fine. In 3D animation, models are routinely stretched or shortened in parts to make a pose read well. Exactly the same happens in anime, the forms are broken to make the stylisation work at different angles.I don’t see why weebs are triggered by this, it just means the medium is more difficult to master.
>>3229490>These don’t work in 3/4 or perspective>Models don't work in 3/4 or perspectiveIt's not that weebs are triggered it's just that you are legitimately retarded.
>>3229508The models do not work in space the way anime models work in space because the forms are intentionally broken as they turn in animation to be more appealing, what do you not understand about this? This is literally how all animation works, anime or not, 2d or not.
>>3229554that's not how animation works. that's a stylistic choice. animation can be 3D-accurate just fine. just like a film, or the vast majority of claymation and 3D animation. there is no inherent need for distortion of the forms.
>>3229559>that's a stylistic choiceRight.>animation can be 3D-accurate just fineRight.>just like the vast majority of 3D animationtop kekRegardless, it is an intrinsic part of anime, and that’s the matter at hand here. Some people here are under the erroneous belief that anime is just heavily stylised models that are faithfully conforming to space throughout their movement on the projection plane. The fact is that a figure is made to imitate the aesthetics of anime, but does not conform to it due to nature of techniques employed in animation.Again, there is nothing wrong with this, but anyone trying to master some anime loomis head to use in extreme (or hell, even ordinary) angles the way you would do for a realistic drawing will just end up as another weeb meme.

I've thought about it really hard and I think this needs to be brought up. You'd generally think that the more you do something the better you get at it. These manga artists like Isayama Hajime and Naoki Urasawa must have drawn thousands of pages, moving their hands and wrists in hundreds of different ways. Why is it that I can't find satisfaction in their works? It makes me feel like drawing a lot is not the only thing that contributes to nice appealing looking drawings. I'd much prefer to draw like those pretty nice japanese artists you see on twitter. Is drawing a lot to get better a meme? I've been watching naoki urasawas tv program manben and I see all these old guys that don't draw anime that well.. I don't want to struggle my whole life drawing only to end up 90 and still draw meh like that.
>>3218163This isn't a problem exclusive to manga but more of a comic thing in general. In that field speed and consistency are more valued than art quality, and they're also mainly storytellers so in that way the art is only a tool to tell the story. Those are the reasons why they get away with shittier art.
>>3218278The other guy is portraying it a bit weirdly. Both mangaka and editor have the power to veto anything and they both need to approve to actually publish anything. If an editor doesn't like what you're drawing, in extreme cases he could refuse to turn it in for printing. Likewise if an author doesn't approve of what the editor is trying to make him do, he can simply refuse to draw that way. However 99.99% of the time both parties enjoy a nice working relationship where each side gives and takes. As an artist from the outside it can seem harsh to give like "a suit" control over "your" creation, but for one those guys tend to know what works, most editors are working the job much, much longer than the artist and second, at the end of the day they represent the company that is actually paying you to draw stuff and that holds the rights to your shit. It makes sense they have a say.
>>3218534Have you tried using a digital or physical brush pen? I've found that it's great for getting into this style.
This thread is the perfect example for why weebs are iredeemable human garbageHow dare people insult your glorious nippon senseis.
>>3218163You don't necessarily get better from drawing a lot. For example, shadman hasn't improved all that much for as much as he draws and this is because he spends most of his time rendering instead of doing studies and anatomy and gesture and whatnot. For mangakas, it makes sense if they wouldn't improve because they don't have time to analyze their art and take notes tonget better, they just make it and ship it off
Are there any good books/guides/tutorials for replicating manga-quality shading/toning? I'm pretty much hacking it for now by having images side by side. Is there some kind of holy bible for getting the exact same results?
>>3226556Man, Obata can't into females.
>>3228599at no point in his post did he say compared to most mangaka. and just because some people are worse does not make his art good.
>>3226984i mean obviously I'm being ignorant as shit right now but I just don't see the point of doing it traditionally when it would take so much less time digitally and that would allow you more time for other things especially if you follow the same schedule as some of the really famous manga artists that only allow for like two hours of sleep per night
>>3226836What's wrong with CSP screentones/halftones? I think I remember SAI's being slightly easier to use but CSP doesn't make it too difficult to use tones. Just wish they had more.
Holy shit, fuck the moire effect on Manga studio... how the hell am I supposed to judge what it's gonna look like after printing? god it looks like shit. I realised that it gave so much of the "manga" feel of the page but shit it's hard.
Is there a better anatomy book than this?
Look at Netter's , I recommend it.
>>3226965Goldfinger's.
>>3226965all have their strengths and their weaknesses. also depending on personal level of understanding.
>>3226965It's definitely pretty top tier along with Goldfinger and Peck.Use all three together for the ultimate combo.
>>3226965I have that one but I prefer the Michael Hampton anatomy book. It breaks down every part of the body into an easy to understand shape. It's more useful to have on hand if you wanna quickly sketch out a bicep or something and don't want to actually study the bicep in depth
Ive been wanting to study and find influence in works meant to be somewhat creepy latelyPost whatever piece of artwork you have that you feel fits this categoryPic is from from a manga called Homunculus

It looks okay but it's pretty mediocore.
>>3228912If it's fanart, carefully divert the conversation to the character/show."Looks cool! You like ____-chan too? I love season 2, haha. Thank you for supporting my patreon."
What do you think of my abstraction?
>>3229389You have to go back.
>>3229383Ah, didn't see the colors at first. The grey should be a milky green.
>>3229318Place yourself in a world like this one
The trick is to only use one eye.
>>3229394Back where? I keep getting sent these by people, i don't go to reddit myself.
How do I learn to emulate a very specific and obscure art style more quickly? Pic related, art style I shamelessly want to bootleg for a certain period of time.
Do study drawings of real life things that the artist you admire draws. Then do study drawings of all of their art. Exaggerate eye size, chicken scratchy fur, use bright vibrant colors. Also look at their art daily.

>>32287421 Thessalonians 2:14-16New International Version (NIV)14 For you, brothers and sisters, became imitators of God’s churches in Judea, which are in Christ Jesus: You suffered from your own people the same things those churches suffered from the Jews 15 who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to everyone 16 in their effort to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. In this way they always heap up their sins to the limit. The wrath of God has come upon them at last.[a]

hi, i have a doubt, i'm starting to covering the basics about drawing and i'm stuck with light and shadow because i haven't find a properly guide, so i would like to know if some of you know a book specially dedicated to exercises , terminologies and things like that about light and shadow (specially in pdf for FREE because i don't own a credit card..)pd: ty for your attention pd 2: sry for the bad englishpd 3: the author of the image is sam nielsen i think
hello anon, actually there is two books about how light behaves, both books are advanced,How to render by scott robertson (requires perspective knowledge) Light for Visual artists. (requires Observation experience)You can find them in The artbook Thread.

>>3228838Once upon a time buying an apartment was easier than buying a computer.Life isn't static.
>>3226598Most likely not. Unless something huge happens with environmental issues and the paper industry takes a huge blow, paper is so fucking piss easy to make in ridiculous amounts why would society ever bother going paperless. That said, tablets are getting cheaper and easier to access. 2-in-1 computers with pen support seem to be the direction manufacturers want to take laptops, and Wacom is slowly losing their hold on the tablet industry to 3rd party manufacturers. Tablets that are $1000 or more now are gonna cost half as much, maybe even a third of their price, in 5 years. We're probably gonna see even more digital artists pop up in the next generation as the technology becomes more cheaper and wide spread.
Just finished this, please be nice.
