Welcome to /k/, 4chan's weapons board. Our board centers around weapons, armor, and other myriad military technology. While guns are the primary topic, threads involving any other sort of weapons, from swords and knives to tanks and jet fighters, come up frequently as well. If you're new, we suggest reading the sticky at http://amagicalplace.wikia.com/wiki/Sticky to get acquainted with the board's subject matter.

Before posting a thread, please check our catalog to ensure that a thread about the same topic does not already exist.

going to a gun show to buy my first shotgun tommorow.

Pretty dead set on the Mossberg 500 (or 590 if I can find one) mainly because parts are cheap and it's not Remington.

How much should I expect to pay for a used one? At the end of the day what I want is a wood stock and both an 18 inch and a 28 inch barrel. Would it be cheaper to buy the combo or just buy a boring polymer stock one and buy all the parts later?

I've checked pawn shops in my area and they are all jews who mark them up to 350-400 (even used ones) so there's no way in hell I'm paying that. I'm bringing 350 dollars in cash to the gun show. Not paying more than 300 for the shotgun, and that's for one that is in great condition with great furniture on it, leaving myself 50 for ammo and accessories.

if that fails I'll just buy this because it's exactly what I want.

https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/mossberg-500-combo-pump-action-12-gauge-28-185-barrel-51-rounds?a=1800469

but if I could find a cheap M500 with a bit of wear on it that would be great.

pic only kind of related.

Is this just rule of cool? Why would you want to be miserable shooting your gun?
>>
>>36221646
Bird's heads have absolutely nothing in common economically with PGO.

Literally everything about them is better, and with the proper technique the recoil is completely fine.

Does anyone else hate the 223 meme as much as I do?

Even if the "ice pick" is fudd lore, every stigma and rumor has truth somewhere in its origins.
Not to mention its shitty ballistics, even in non combat senarios when wielded by the autistic shitlords that use them.

>aurora shooting, 70 wounded from nearly point blank range, 12 killed. Mostly children and old people
>vegas shooting, 400+ wounded from blind spraying , 58 killed, most likely half from trampling.
Do I even need to talk about the church "massacre" at this point?
From the data in these instances, thats almost less than a 15% lethality.

Other shit-tacular aspects of this rifle:
>velocity dependant ammunition
>little to no barrier penetration
>so small it drifts in the slightest cross breeze
>deflects off twigs

I might also make an ar-10 pistol just to piss people off at the range and to see if I can use a compensator to set their shit on fire... fucking cunts are always mag dumping their at-15's at 5 yards at the indoor range. I shot a Diana 52 before buying the HW. The Diana didn't have the recoil pin hole on top for the scope rings and that's always a problem with a FAC springer.
Also I didn't like the trigger too much and since everywhere I looked it up people were praising the Rekord trigger I went with the HW. I might be a trigger snob because this is my second air rifle.

I think we can all agree that the T-34 was the best tank of WW2.

The main danger to allied tanks in the late war were AT guns, handheld AT weapons, and German tanks. HE is only effective for troop support, but AP is much more critical against enemy tanks.
>>
>>36213042
>T-34 was as reliable as Sherman

>In 1941 T-34 tanks often had to carry a spare transmission strapped on the back to counter equipment failures (10). In 1942 the situation worsened since many vehicles could only cover small distances before breaking down. In the summer of 1942 the following Stalin order was issued to units (11):

>‘Our armored forces and their units frequently suffer greater losses through mechanical breakdowns than they do in battle. For example, at Stalingrad Front in six days twelve of our tank brigades lost 326 out of their 400 tanks. Of those about 260 owed to mechanical problems. Many of the tanks were abandoned on the battlefield. Similar instances can be observed on other fronts. Since such a high incidence of mechanical defects is implausible, the Supreme Headquarters sees in it covert sabotage and wrecking by certain elements in the tank crews who try to exploit small mechanical troubles to avoid battle.’

>Henceforth, every tank leaving the battlefield for alleged mechanical reasons was to be gone over by technicians, and if sabotage was suspected, the crews were to be put into tank punishment companies or "degraded to the infantry" and put into infantry punishment companies.'
>>
>>36214877
>thinking that HE filler is all that matters
>ignoring AP performance
>ignoring rate of fire
>ignoring accuracy

nicely done
>>
>>36224312
>Active protection system.
I thought APS couldn't kill kinetic rounds
>>
>>36224721
In the late of the war (since 1944, when T-34/85 appeared) on the Eastern front, especially in urban areas, about about 70% of tanks destroyed were hit by Panzerfäuste or Panzerschrecks. German tanks at this time was pretty rare thing to find - all of them were concentrated in the most important areas. In other places the main target of allied tank was soft targets like fortified houses with infantry, bunkers, AT canon positions, all this is almost immune to AP. We are not talking about tank duels, we are talking about tank being useful in battle.

Belgium: Acquiring guns not covered under Model 9

As a sport shooter, you may want to acquire guns not covered under Model 9. This generally means you need to request a Model 4 permit for that gun. Each Model 4 permit is linked to a single gun. But one "request" can include many Model 4 permits at the same price of about 100 euros.
Having an SSL means that you can cut down on some of the paperwork required to acquire it, as the SSL in itself already shows that you are physically and mentally fit to handle firearms, and that you're not a criminal. Regardless, your request is sent to your governor, and it will take him between 2 weeks and 4 months to approve your request. Some antigun governors & administrations make it a sport to wait as long as possible before issuing the permit.

Model 4 covers:
- centerfire pistols & revolvers
- centerfire semi automatic rifles & shotguns
- pump action shotguns

Belgium: Quirks & limitations

Magazine capacity:
Centerfire bolt action rifles & shotguns must have a capacity of 10 rounds or less.
Rimfire bolt action rifles must have a capacity of 15 rounds or less.
Centerfire semi automatic rifles must have a capacity of 30 rounds or less.
Rimfire semi automatic rifles must have a capacity of 40 rounds or less.
Centerfire pistols must have a capacity of 20 rounds or less, unless you are an IPSC/BPSA shooter then it must be shorter than 171mm regardless of capacity.

If you own a .22LR pistol under Model 9 permit, you may own a 10 shot magazine for it, but you are not legally allowed to load more than 5 rounds at a time. Own the same pistol under Model 4, and you may load it to full capacity.

Outright banned:
Suppressors
Visible aiming lasers
Night vision devices attached to a weapon
