This board is for the discussion of classic, or "retro" games. Retro gaming means consoles, computer games, arcade games (including pinball) and any other forms of video games on platforms launched in 1999 and earlier. With the release of the 8th generation of consoles, the Sega Dreamcast will now be considered "retro", though the remainder of the sixth generation (Xbox, PS2, GameCube) will not.

>You need to 2All to 1cc
Lift with your legs, not your back. Those goal posts can be heavy.
>thinks he knows shit about arcade gaming for 1ccing Metal slug
Firstly that is not a claim I have made.
Secondly, I obviously don't know your life, but I'd be willing to bet you haven't properly 1cc'd a single game. Not with that kind of attitude. Where do you even draw the line? Is it still a 1cc to you if you just coach someone else doing it? What if you just pay for it? It's still your money and your 1cc right? How about watching it on youtube and just mimicking hand motions like it's you playing? Free play so it counts as a 0cc somehow? You're a feeder, and one with a bad attitude at that.
>>
>>4472764
>Those goal posts can be heavy.
It's true though dumbass, even the game tells you only reached stage 5 instead of "All", it's only an All if you beat Hibachi.
And yeah whatever you say retard, I've blind 1cc'd a bunch of games, it's fucking nothing compared to putting effort and time on an actual challenging game. Not like you moron with 0 experience would know.
>>
>>4472778
>I've blind 1cc'd a bunch of games
Oh shit for real? That's really impressive considering just a couple minutes ago it was all about the practice and it took you months to beat a game that's supposed to be beaten in one sitting. Amazing improvement, you've really outdone yourself.

The previous thread was pretty successful, had a lot of good recommendations and discussion. Unfortunately, it's not in the archive anymore, sorry that I'm so slow.

What are you currently playing?

it seems a bit silly to just not use sound; why would you not? it's important for not dying and finding progress, at times... it does significantly impact one's judgement of stuff, since it's an entire sense suddenly silenced, and for no good reason

Zall your base are belong to us (just kidding I love Zero Wing)

Any /vr/ console RPGs where combat is optional and diplomacy / dialogue is a legitimate alternative?

Thinking of something like Planescape: Torment or Undertale (yeah yeah, not retro).
21 replies and 1 image omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>4471403
don't you usually get attacked first and insta-gibbed in fallout when you fail diplomacy and don't choose the option that makes you shoot first instead, what with the damage variance and crits making it some almost literally anything can kill you in one turn on a bad roll
>>
>>4472738
To be fair, if you had a strategy for your diplomacy on everything, the entire game would suddenly be way too easy and you'd never really have to fight anything aside from Boss Demons.
>>
>>4471403
Combat is only optional in PST if you've played the game before and know where all the enemies are beneath the fog and know exactly where you're going so you can sprint past them.
>>
>>4472762
Yeah, I know. But RNG is not diplomacy.

An ideal negotiation game would require you to talk, ask questions, gauge responses and change your strategy accordingly. You'd still be able to break the game by looking up a walkthrough, but that's the case for any puzzle game.

This kinda stuff is probably too complex for older consoles though. But even these days SMT keeps things random.
>>
>>4472767
It's good to avoid combat in PST as a general rule as it is crap.

Mario 64 DS is shit compared to the original. Star World is going to have a lot of new levels and the old levels will be remade or improved a lot. But that's not enough when compared to the controls of Mario 64.

If anything he should wait for Superstar World (A Hat in Time hack/DLC)

Which is the best Bomberman multiplayer on the N64?

This one is cute and all but is lacking stages, kangaroos and characters, so it's inferior to Super Bomberman 4 and 5. Didn't try the three 3D ones tho

It was and it surprised me it wasn't even how I thought it would be like. I was under the assumption it was mostly a traditional beat 'em up in the same way Final Fight and other classics were. Yeah, the glock is a bit unbalanced.
Other weapons are more fun. 1911 has ridiculous bullet drop (gamey, but challenging) and limited capacity. Rifle has weak dps, but high headshot damage and penetration. Hit a Skaarj in the body, he'll be at your throat before you fire a second shot. One in the head puts him down immediately.
>>
>using stuffswapper or wormplugin to create your own fucktarded mixes of mods
Nothing quite as fun as having 2 different grappling hooks from separate mods combined with a jetpack, a spaceship and a strangelove launcher.
>>
>>4471146
Yeah, UT99 got all the lovelies. Unreal mods are a bit less developed.
I should go on a journey to look for really good monster hunter maps. Have to try out a metric ton of stuff that I missed back then (had no internet at the time of release)

There's a map I saw both in UT MH and in Unreal that had a small town infested with zombies, there was a day and night cycle and the zombies would come out at night, shit was fun.

>>

I used to have some of these and besides the ATI X1300 I think there are 6200 and MX400 cards with S-video out. Not too sure, just what I remember
>>
my pexhdcap and VisionRGB-E1S capture RGB fine. the E1S is better and captures any thing the ossc can throw at it. I got my E1S for $100 off ebay which is a steal.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Datapath-Vision-RGB-E1s-1080p-Video-Capture-Card-PCI-Express-For-PC-Apple/112198559131?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

these have a low profile bracket though so you're either gonna have to go with out one or search for something that fits this thing.
>>
>>4471850
Card doesn't actually capture audio so you need to make use of line-in or some other route.

>>4472428
Just removing the bracket is also an option if you don't mind leaving it just hang there. A friend took a spare full height bracket for a USB card and filed it out for his.
>>
>>4472693
>Card doesn't actually capture audio so you need to make use of line-in or some other route.
Well, I guess that's fine. I'm pretty sure that most recording software allows you to freely combine sound and video sources. This way, I can use some high-end external sound card if I feel like it.
