>unless we're talking about piling up 15 unconscious bodies in the dark corner as not being seen because they were blackjacked before detection.
Now you're getting it. Ghosting is a very specific category that is a bust as soon as you harm a single person in any way. You are the only one talking about that. Yes, decking the halls with sleeping guards is preferable to being seen even once, because when you knock out a platoon, they know that someone knocked out a platoon. When you're detected and run away from guards, they know that YOU were caught trespassing. One is evidence of assault by an unknown assailant, the other is evidence of trespass BY YOU. Not much else to be said about it.
>>
>>4452373
Yes, and in Undercover you walk right in through the front door after staring the hammer at the gate in the face instead of going over the courtyard wall, then proceed to trip the alarm and meet at least 1 if not a dozen hammers on your way out. Ergo Garrett isn't some autist that puts a higher value on never being seen over an easier route to the goal. Canon.
>>
>>4452373
Also that's all just headcanon again, by the way. Because being caught by guards and evading them with flashbombs or simply running away doesn't fail Expert and Expert is the only mode that matters.
>The years I spent in TTLG I got the impression that the most common accepted canon is everything that you can prove Garrett did on Expert difficulty and because it's a stealth game, not being seen is the bare minimum considering how easy Expert is with blackjacking.
The second half of this is literally Garrett superhero fanfic and has no basis in the actual game's story or objectives.

Post your repair issues, progress, and questions here.

I have a GBC with a very corroded headphone jack that even with alcohol cant seen to clean it up. its so bad that the gbc wont output sound because it thinks there;s a headphone plugged in. Can i just buy a new headphone jack and solder it in? Where could i even find something like that now?

>>
>>4451704
Thats why you take a ruler and push on the pins a bit to break that very small amount of solder and check each pin to see if it wiggles a bit.
>>
what are the biggest battery size mounts that fit in a gba cart?

tape doesn't work for RSE, and I don't wanna resolder a battery every time
>>
So anon with the toploader ppu issue here:

I practiced removing about 6 chips from a junk vcr. There was even a 40 pin one. Anyway, it went super smooth. The NES however was a real bitch. Idk if they use different solder or what... the NES solder on chips seems much duller in color than the old vcr did. Anyway, I got it off of there after a little hassle and didn't damage the console. I was able to solder one of the 40 pin connectors in. My next step will be to try the other PPU. I did manage to get the broken pin to stick without grinding the top away, it was a small miracle, but it stuck. It's late so I'll work on it tomorrow. Thanks for the advice, it helped a lot.
>>
>>4451960
If you're having issues with solder sticking apply new solder. Old solder tends to be hard and applying new solder brings down the melting temperature.
>>
I have a SuperCIC moded PAL SNES. If I import an NTSC-J Super Gameboy and jam it in 60hz mode selected will it run normally or do the PAL SNES and jap SFamicom have pinout differences?

Is there a hack that gives Rock in Mega Man 1 the same smooth controls and responsiveness as the later NES games?

Well, looking through the hacks online, there isn't anything like this, but for some reason I really enjoy playing with the Roll sprite replacement. Time for another run.

This game is underrated compared to MM2 and 3 IMO, it's not something to be skipped.

Powered Up actually keeps the slightly awkward controls, for better or for worse. It's still better than MM1 regardless.

I feel like Konami BEU always did stage design best. They always have these weird hazards and rides you have to destroy and avoid so things feel pretty fresh. Mobs show up from the bottom of the screen which diverts dumb player behaviors a little like punching air at the edge of screen. BTW any retard who does this, kindly forbid yourselves from playing on Fightcade.
As far as the actual moves go, Simpsons were as deep as they got, otherwise they just feel like the typical 2 specials 1 unique jump attacks 4 hit combo kind of deal.
>>
Vludi, I need your help bro.

In arcade Final Fight, is there a legitimate way to always get healing drops from barrels, trash cans and phone booths? Especially on stage 2 subway. How do some players consistently get good healing drops in the middle and end of the subway? I only get good healing items like 20% of the time.

Do certain attacks result in better drops? Or is it all random? Please let me in on the trick (if there is one).

Thanks. I watch your youtube vids all the time, pham.

nice one, thanks.

What are some examples of fantastic ports/collections/"remasters" of retro games on modern hardware. Collections that were made with respect to the original works and not just a cheap cash in (like pic related).

Do you prefer these revivals to be authentic to the original experience, flaws and all, or would you rather have an improved experience?

The Activision Collection for PS2.

It had great music, great games and a few improvements.

It only needed Activision titles from systems other than the 2600.

It had better a return that RE6 expect more of RE7-like gameplay.
>>
>>4450121
My first RE was RE4 and I've finished RE1. And I don't mean REmake, I mean REDC.
>>
>>4451098
REVII isn't a return to anything other than being vaguely connected to the survival-horror genre.
The last true RE game was objectively 0, and the closest game that retained that 'stuck in a giant puzzle' feel was either Lost in Nightmares (which had it's small non-linear parts), Revelations 2.
But, to be fair, VII had one good classic RE area, that being the main house. Well, at least until you get the dog heads.

First RE was 1, first RE I actually beat was 2. I felt disappointed after 2, went back and beat 1 and fell in love with it. Granted in 98 I was still a dumb baby so RE 1 was hard for me.

I'm pretty much clueless about the Zelda series, Nintendo wasn't a presence in my country and consequently I hold no nostalgia for these games. Can /vr/ give me a rundown on which entries are worth playing, which can be skipped etc.

The first one is quite fun from my limited experience so far.

>>
>>4451765
No, people say the game is about freely exploring the world. The "can do dungeons in any order you want" is a strawman added on by people who prefer the Zeldas that don't let you explore and tell you where to go next.
>>
>>4451772
Weren't the dungeons in LttP specifically numbered? Don't you need tools from old dungeons to get through them?

I'm honestly curious, without glitches or leaving dungeons half finished once you get the dungeon item, which LttP dungeons can you do out of order?
>>
>>4452194
>Weren't the dungeons in LttP specifically numbered?
Yes.
>Don't you need tools from old dungeons to get through them?
Not all.

>which LttP dungeons can you do out of order?
You need the hammer from 1 to access 2 and 3. Not sure what you need the hookshot and fire rod for specifically, but you need the cane from 6 for 7. The armor from 5 is pointless.

Retro gaming is the patrician choice. Decades of videogame releases have left us a plethora of good options to choose from without the cultura/marketing bias. You don't get to play whatever game is released right now, but a game that has survived years after release. Think on all the games that were hailed in their times that were actually bad games. If an old game is recommended nowdays is not because a journalist being paid to advertise said game, but because the game deserves to be kept alive.
