how do i make this? also we should start having threads like this instead of cluttering the board up with similar questions

This is a general question: why is orange such a hard color to make combos with? I really dislike how it looks next to greys, and mixing it with pink or green makes me puke. It's like it only works next to strictly complimentary colors (like teal, cyan, red, purple, burgundy) and little else.
>>329082Just like most colours only work with complimentary or analogous colour - it's colour theory. I think orange can look good with greys, you just need to hit the balance right with how much you use each colour and where. Also studies have shown that orange tends to be the least favourite colour so there's that...
>>329096>Just like most colours only work with complimentary or analogous colour - it's colour theory.Yeah, I know that. But at least to me, other bright colors don't create such a jarring mix when used in non-complimentary combinations. For example, red/blue are pretty universal, they go together decently even if you miss the exact complimentary hues. >I think orange can look good with greys, you just need to hit the balance right with how much you use each colour and where. This is one of those combos I used to see a lot in the early 2000s, in the heyday of futuristic silver look. Frankly, never was a fan… I mean, it's not "bad" and jarring per se. But at the same time, I'd never pick this for a combo. I'd rather combine grey with anything but orange.>orange tends to be the least favourite colour so there's that...I wonder why is that.
I created a logo for a fictional donation company. What do you guys think?
>>329104shitfar to much going on
No currently up and running thread. So /gd/, what are you working on?
>>329080your analysis is spot on, i made it in MSword, couldn't get get gimp to print right. i haven't done graphic design since 07 and even then this is pretty shameful but i'm working with free labels in low res thermal transfer. basic as fuck tips would probably help down to font, not making significant money off it but don't want it to look like crap and messing with design again has been fun
>>329023I will try to keep it simple but people would like to see something "cool". Also, I do not know how to keep it simple. So far I could only decide on the color of the poster it is some red which is the official color of our university.
>>329029Kerning is all over the place. The text itself is unbalanced and not nicely spaced. It's unimaginative and lazy. I'd suggest just experimenting and really pushing your ideas, may even take a few hours until something hits you. Look at other logos that you like and try pick out the characteristics you enjoy about them and recreate in your own style. >>329080I really dislike the logo and fonts you're using and how you've styled them. It's just okay but it gives me the impression that you're young, haven't really developed a style, not doing anything special/interesting, and that you're a beginner in this industry. You can definitely do something simple and minimalist that still shows you've got some design skills. I can only suggest really focusing on your typography. Check out typewolf or something to help give you some ideas.
>>328923And in the end the client approved this what do you guys think could i have done a better job
What do you think?
Anyone got serial number for CS2? trying to pirate it because I'm not giving Shekelsteins all my money just to use it occasionally and the shit drives me nuts, nothing works
If you're too stupid to figure out how to get pirated software working then you don't deserve to use it at all.
Just google for adobe universal crack, after all it just put an extra file in the folder of the adobe program to be patched
>>329027Torrent that shit
they removed the free serial thingso download a more or less modern version and use the patched amtlib.framework
https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/16491943/Universal_Adobe_Patcher_2.0_by_PainteR_[by_Robert]here you are...(btw the patcher says its for adobe2017 versions but it will work fine on 2018 too
Hi, I'm a student at "ITIS C.Zuccante"in Venice. Our current logo is pretty bad and today some concepts for a new logo has been presented. However they are all bad so I am requesting you guys some cool and even funny ideas. You can make whatever you like, even with dank memes, at worst the school won't accept them.About the contents: you have to use the name of the school (full name is "Istituito Tecnico Industriale Statale Carlo Zuccante", the initials can also be used "CZ" or "ITIS CZ" ) and the year in which the school was born, 1968.The pic is the current logo.

How do you get RICH in Graphic Design?
>>329066no one ever did that. graphic design is for autistic losers who dedicate their whole life to it.
same you get rich with anything else, build a company and extract surplus value produced from the labour of your employees
>>329066What do you consider rich?>Be talented enough and have the skills to warrant being paid a lot more than the average designer.>And/or network with the right people.>And/or Get in the design fields that pay more.>And/or work your way up to be in a senior or director position.>And/or start your own agency and be able to attract clients willing to spend millions of dollars on a project.
>>329097It also helps if you live in a decent area/country to begin with, since income would vary widely.
what y'all think?
definitely hard to read but I think it's fun. Not really a logo many people will see anyway
>>329071l-lewd/10
>>329071>dude checkerboard lmaolooks gay and ridiculously overcomplicated for a logo. more like some Tumblr illustration that loosely follows chess theme but rather chooses to focus on human warmth for some uncertain reason
>>329074First thing that came to my mind too.
Looks like an image from the kamasutra. Way too detailed - you can't tell what it is at a glance, doesn't hero the "chess" aspect.

There was a website that had the stock hacker font from tv shows and movies. Does anyone have a link to it?
>>328544Flood seems like a good choice, although I'm having trouble sourcing it. I really have no idea where people get fonts from. Websites are beyond suspicious. As for the anemic/sickly font, I want to go with some sort of Kointai font, maybe Kointai-M (TB古印体)The second to last panel is a letter from father to daughter. After browsing the morisawa website, if we're looking to match the font, it would probably be something like Reisho 101. However, if we were going for suitability, I think a neat handwriting font like Talking would work better, if not cursive.http://en.morisawa.co.jp/fonts/specimen/2378http://en.morisawa.co.jp/fonts/specimen/2662Still, at times the main character does talk as if he were reading out of a textbook, so I wanted to convey that feeling. I'm not really sure what the most appropriate font is in that case.
>>328996For an anemic font I'd probably use Rigor Mortis, Dan Panosian, or Evil Schemes. Also I think I found a good cursive font, "Spaghetti Western". And lastly for a stiff, textbook like feel I'd use CutthroatHere's a link to themhttps://mega.nz/#!At8llRwZ!P2KKZCFprdofKAhUK6oeoTQ7Mpca_9zOzeYpJepuKTo
>>329086Great, I think these will work. I'll post the link to the chapter here after I'm done. Like /diy/, I'm sure /gd/ never gets follow-up.

I fucking really loved Acherus Grotesque when it came out but I'm a fan of Acre medium. I'm a freefag.Being a codefag I love monospaced fonts. They feel good. Does anyone have some recommendation for this ?
>>329031To code Fira Code is one of my favorites, but there's a paid one that is great called Operator Mono, it's worth checking out

I'm new to design - i'm trying to make a website design which i will code later. Which one of these four is your favorite (or are they all terrible). I do not want ANY javascript so these are pretty simple
I don't know, but I'm copying top right design, thanks senpai
>>329034no problem my friend
>>329034I did a quick try at this, colors are just placeholders and there is no site logo. What do you guys think?
I like the first and the last ones, but I think you should start coding and make adjustments as you go, maybe the final thing will be a mix of all of your ideas

>>327831>>327835personally I have no respect for people charging money for fonts> so the presence of paid fonts detracts from the place.> if you want paid fonts go to Fonts dotcom or Myfonts dotcom, where thats all they fucking do basically
>>329069and before anyone bothers me about this, its not bait but a philosophy> computers copy things freely without expending resources> if you put something on the computer, you damn well better expect it to be copied> if you dont want something to be copied without charging a fee, then keep it off of the digital medium and actually make it a Real Thing that must be physically destroyed to get rid of it - since deleting something is just rearranging some bits.
These fonts all look awful so who cares, in this day and age there is zero reason not to purchase from the foundry
Lately I've been looking for a lot of visual identity related to fake retro imagery (Hotline Miami, Drive, Stranger Things)So I just came here to ask.1. Do you like this kind of style? (Y/N and why)2. Does it have a defined name? I thought it was "Fauxstalgia" but it's only mentioned on Urban dictionary, but that's pretty like it's nothingAlso, I find vaporwave annoying, and the less we get into that, the better
It's shallow and overused as fuck at this point fun for the first couple of Hotline Miami games and Com Truise's work at the time when it became "the shit" among internet hipsters and it had some artistic merit, due to original approach and skills.Afaik lots of it originated from French electronic music scene around 2010 for that cozy 80s reminiscence. Such as Valerie, Italians Do It better etc. music labels. Later it transformed in shallow, unoriginal "Synthwave" every other soundcloud musician produced in Ableton. In general "Neo-80s" I suppose. It's been over half a decade since this is a thing.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMjCxV7u8OAhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJSKJqvoQ6Uhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4jWO_4lXyghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDDFtoyQD0U&list=PLfuOR8Oz4orlq0kfLyz_2h7o_qPvwv8H6Here's somes little personal viewpoint regarding electronic music scene, related to this stuff too in recent years and how deeply uninteresting it has become:http://autisticmercury.com/iteration----com-truise.htmlFor dat visual 'OC' there literary are web generated templates and YouTube video tutorials how to produce such an 'effect'. So, yeah, it's time to move on I think.
>>329009Here's another track/video. I appreciate the early, original and distinct from each other stuff that was done 'right'.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvFVo3j5g1g
>>329008(Continuation of previous post)Combining the general ignorance of the style (DUDE, EIGHTIES MEDIA ALWAYS HAD, LIKE, THIS WEIRD PINK FILTER FOR SOME REASON, AND LIKE, EARLY INTERNET WEBPAGE DESIGN WAS ALSO A THING IN THE EIGHTIES AND TOTALLY NOT THE NINETIES!) with the heavy meme culture that now surrounds, a whole generation of teenagers will now forever view 1980s graphic design as a terrible, warped, overtly-incorrect version of what it really was, and also as nothing more than an object to be mocked and made fun of due to how "tacky" and "lame" they're convinced it is.2. I don't think there's an official name for the style, but most people, including myself, would categorize it under vaporwave, seeing as how heavily associated it is even when it's not explicitly attempting to appear as part of the movement.
