This is without a doubt the shittiest, crappiest and insulting logo design I’ve ever seen. There is no effort in it, it’s a fucking rectangle and a circle. It’s what someone who is just learning AI would do. It’s repulsive.

Minimalism is nothing new. This was designed for MIT in 1962.

>>326172
In what scenario would you see this logo without already being familiar with what they do? The only place you're going to see this is stamped on their products, on their website which you will have navigated to yourself and in commercials that mention the brand name over and over. HP is a big company. Everyone knows who they are so they're able to pull this off.

What people don't get is that logos don't have to have any intrinsic meaning or look like anything in and of themselves. The meaning comes from the association with the brand by consumers through the use of their products or through marketing.

Do you think the Nike tick is a good piece of logo design? Doesn't matter because you already associate it with all the things Nike produces so it's done its job.

Fucking thank you, so tired of all the "waaah it doesn't look literally like the product shit logo" bullshit that passes as critique these days.

I never implied otherwise. I was referring to the recent explosion of hyper-minimalism (for lack of better word). Old minimalism was reducing for the sake of focus and getting rid of clutter. New minimalism is reducing for the sake of the trends.
> The only place you're going to see this is stamped on their products, on their website which you will have navigated to yourself and in commercials that mention the brand name over and over.
The same can be said of almost any product logo. And what you say basically implies, "it's fine because it doesn't matter what the logo is".
If I didn't know that's HP's new logo, I simply wouldn't know what company it belonged to. Even if it was stamped on their products, I would need to guess it's HP. So much for brand recognition, memorability, associations, etc etc. What is it associated with, again? With their old logo, mostly. Then maybe it's good as a logo for their old logo.
Oh, and by the way, let's take a look at picrelated. Only one company from here doesn't have text on their logo, and it's Apple (because they're Apple). But at least their logo isn't a bunch of stripes, that could be read as 'liji', 'bp', or many other words.

yeah, it's clearly a window, but it also looks like bland shit.

Do I really need all this to be a graphic designer? That's thousands of dollars.

Nobody who actually works in the industry cares, the platforms are pretty much identical beyond specific file/format requirements.

Thankfully the industry grew out of the meme 10 years ago, but I guess you millenial faggots just can't function without sucking corporate dick on the reg.

Miraizon's ProRes codecs work perfectly on windows.
The only advantage for mac when working on video is native quicktime support instead of running qtserver which very rarely crashes.
I have a virtual machine on my pc which has El Capitan and the adobe suite just in case but I never had to use it.
On the other hand (and maybe this only happens because I live in a backwards country) some prehistoric TV networks still ask for material to be trafficked as uncompressed avi files (retarded I know) which I usually have to render for my mac using coworkers.

Can we just stop with the mac-or-death/mac-sucks meme?

Non-American here, I'm still caught off guard all the time by just HOW much hate Apple gets online. It's simply irrational at this point.

Lately I've been looking for a lot of visual identity related to fake retro imagery (Hotline Miami, Drive, Stranger Things)

So I just came here to ask.

1. Do you like this kind of style? (Y/N and why)

2. Does it have a defined name? I thought it was "Fauxstalgia" but it's only mentioned on Urban dictionary, but that's pretty like it's nothing

Also, I find vaporwave annoying, and the less we get into that, the better

what i'd consider my personal style, kind of vaporwave-ish, made it on polyvore
>>
>>327934
Well yes, it's an imitation in any case, but it can be true to the source or it can be distorted and rather shallow. This is why I agree it looks "fake".
Compare this to picrelated, for example. This is a very accurate imitation of an old style.
>>

Yes, this is indeed beautiful imo

A.K.A shit

I want to make a print of this (Banquet of the Amsterdam Civic Guard in Celebration of the Peace of Münster), but I need it to be smaller than if i take the standard 300 pixels = 1 inch.
Does anyone have any advice about how to best downsize the file while losing as little detail as possible?

Make sure to resample it using Bicubic Sharper

You can't stare into space and be inspired.

Read books, play videogames, watch movies, go to the store and look at labels for curry powder, chicken wings, engine oil, anything.

Designers often use design and all of the accoutrements to substitute for a personality. Muh Mac, muh behence, muh coffee etc.

You will never be an interesting designer if you have no interests. Stop hashtagging Apple on twitter and get some hobbies.

Tough shit, you have to speak in a language your audience can understand. Add some scan lines to that and I’d say yes it’d make Gen Z interested, but no IBM will stay a stupid niche tech company to which the outdated logo will stay

Don’t get me wrong Paul Rand is great but that logo is old af

Hello, I'm trying to do vector drawings of birds.
It was pretty simple at first but now with this criptic patterns on the feathers I can't find a simple way of doing them.
Any ideas? It just has to be simple but the way I'm doing it looks retarded.

Learn how to create GIFs with photoshop or gimp, it's pretty straightforward but you'll need to manually move the images for each frame.
>>
>>327983
ye ya right i thought when i looked at it each little screen had motion too, it's just a weird jerking because the person that did it wasn't that good

I usually make gifs in premiere because the UI and tools make it so much easier to handle what's moving where at what speed/time.

What's the bonus of using Photoshop to do this?

Hi /gd/ just wondering if you guys know any good places where I can make and sell housing renders. Any good construction companies? Freelance sites? etc. Thanks for your time.

You could do it with strokes. Make a slightly curved line, make sure the caps are rounded, and make the weight really thick. Then just convert to outlines, and duplicate it heaps and rotate them at random.

2. radial gradient over shape
3. draw highlight over bean
4. gradient, white->alpha
