hey guys, where can i find guides or tutorials on making cool youtube and twitch headers? some people say that they only use their imagination while making this.
>>

>cool youtube and twitch headers
it depends of what you think its "cool" as social media banners tend to get outdated every couple of years, usually you'll search on youtube for "speeart youtube banner" and after finding something you like just watch it a few times and dissect what they're doing then you'll have to learn one thing at a time so there's not really a tutorial for the whole thing as it usually takes a few hours to even get some direction and a few more to refine the design, in my opinion is not worth pursuing it as people don't pay that much for banners and it takes lots of practice,

I'm in a need of a template for the CV. Can't find any besides those shitty one-pagers at the first Google page.

Maybe some of you would know a proper place to search for one?

Hi guys, how much does work like this cost to design?
Any idea how much something like this would be to print on a vinyl printer?

It goes on the plastics on a yamaha WR250X.

>>
Just google local companies that make vinyl wraps for popular motorcycle plastics. It's not going to be cheap for a quality one off design. Have never had any made, but met some guys that had a Vinyl Printer / Die Cutter in their garage and would bang out some sick designs starting at like $200 a set and I think going up to 300/400 for a complicated design/crazy textures. Might be able to find a more popular company to do it for cheaper. Only half assed estimate on cost I could think of.
>>
Is it just one decal/logo/sticker or is it the complete panel (several logos, lines, textures, colors)?
>>
>>327161
Several panels of assorted sizes all over the bike.

Many logos, lines, textures and maybe different colours according to GDs taste.
>>
Have you already asked in >>>/o/? I remember seeing some threads about vinyl stickers there, so there might be someone who can give you a price point of what they paid for theirs. Good luck
>>
>>327172

Damn bro. I would do it but it would be super expensive and time consuming. The cheapest you'll be paying is 250 USD (basic design with few elements + printing - no labor included). The most expensive route (500+ USD) will have you going to a company that does both designing and printing in house. The cheaper option will have you contacting a designer and a printing company separately. The company will provide the wrap/kit template, you hand those over to the designer, the finalized design is sent back to the company (it's proofed etc) and the final kit is shipped to your door.

If you have any more questions or want to get into technicalities, drop your email.

>>327173

/o/ has done stickers and panel/window decals, never full kits. Motorcycle wraps/kits are a whole 'nother ball game

>Thanks bruh. What do you mean by one font 'style'?

For example, the Helvetica Neue Family has a lot of different weights, styles, etc:.
https://www.fonts.com/font/linotype/neue-helvetica

I meant that a challenging project would be to have the entire brand and ad campaign done using only one font style.

So, let's say you had to choose only one of the 75 styles of the Helvetica Neue family. Just one. That's the only one you can work with to make this brand and campaign work.

Yes, I know many people here may slag and say "Helvetica is so cliche, overused" and so on. It's literally just an example for explanatory purposes.

Hey guys you got any advice on how to use Rhino
>>
>>327057
there's a board for 3D >>>/3/
i would say it depends of what you want to do with it, i personally like it for its plugin grasshopper so maybe try finding an online course for whatever you want and some online community to get you going.
>>
>>327057
There is /3/ but considering both boards are slow as hell... like
>>327074
said, it depends what you want to do. Find courses for objects you want to learn to model. You can always torrent ones you like and there are a lot of free ones on youtube and random sites, but depends on what you want to learn to make. From what I remember rhino3d.tv was a good place to learn some basics.

There is also always the searchable Help menu tab you can access any time during modeling in the Panels tabs that has a tutorial for every command.
>>
>>327098
Oh yeah and if you aren't familiar with the command bar (where you can type in commands, or start to and see suggestions) at the top towards the top of the screen and being able to right click in the space above the command prompt/below the main top menu bar to see your previous 10 commands (or however many you set Rhino to save) It helps you learn commands better instead of finding buttons and making you quicker for some commands.

You'll likely see that in any tutorial, but a combo of buttons you've arranged to how you model and using commands/previous actions and also getting used to the idea of History for building objects are good things to practice while learning to model.

While I'm on a little list of things to try to get good at while learning. Learn all of the Modeling Aids on the bottom of the screen.
Osnap, Planar, SmartTrack, etc. and also learn to set up your Grid / Units in Tools > Options for your project and of course get familiar with the Layers tab that is not much different than Photoshop.

Not sure how new you are to 3D, but you may want to just find beginner tutorials starting from Curves vs Surfaces vs Solids and learn the basic commands from there while keeping things above in mind.
>>
i gave a quick intro to rhino for some classmates a few years ago. here's some of the stuff
>You can choose a number of different templates to start with, with varying tolerances and units.
> pick whatever units you like to work with, I’d suggest millimetres or meters
>Large objects vs small objects changes the tolerances of the file. You don’t need to worry about this too much, but rough rule is go for large objects most of the time since you’ll be modelling buildings. Choose small objects if your modelling something to be digitally fabricated and constructed.

>Rhino uses a command line, meaning that you can type in what you want to do and it will bring up a list of tools and options. This is like google where it autocompletes a list of different tools.
> All the tools and commands can also be accessed via their toolbars and menus. The command line speeds it up.
> However it also provides information about the command you’re using and a number of different options, so pay attention to it.

>POINTS, singe point defined by x y and z coordinates
>CURVES, means any line, has a single dimension to it, can be 2d or 3d. so straight lines, polylines, or smooth curves
> Surfaces, geometry with 2 dimensions, can again be flat plans, combinations of flat planes or complex organic freeform. Have a front and a back side and a surface direction (normals)
>Solids, can be orthogonal or organic. Important thing is that they are CLOSED and have a volume. Important because you can carry out of variety of solid operations on them such as slicing out parts, making holes

>Because you are working in a 3d space you have what is called a construction plane. This is a 2d plane which you draw on. By default its as a flat xy plane, and you can use it as the ‘ground’ for most of your modelling.

Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>
>>327120

>However sometime you’ll want to change your construction plane when your modelling something on an angle, use the SET CPLANE TO OBJECT. You can change it back to WORLD TOP to get the default one back.

>Snaps are located at bottom of your screen. Click the text to turn on and off
- Use these to snap onto various points of geometry and draw from accurately.
>You can turn them on or off, or all of them off.
>NEAR SNAP IS BAD, NEVER USE IT. ( it snaps to any part of geometry, often makes you snap to things you didn’t want to)
> Grid snaps, not that useful
> Smart track which is the best, draws construction lines from existing geometry for you
>Planar forces drawing on the construction plane, pretty usefull
>Turns the gumball on and off, usefull for moving or rotating in 3d. Arrows move, circles rotate and the little squares scale. You if you click on any of them you can set a precise value of movement / rotation.

>On the right of the interface is where layers and properties live
> Separate objects into layers to organise your model. Select objects, right click on a layer and select CHANGE OBJECT LAYER to change objects to that layer.

Greetings /gd/,
I am sending in my application for Graphic Design uni on Monday.
A lot of people have told me that I should not do it since I already spend two
years of graphic design training at an educational facility.
I am in doubt my self but my curiosity is driving me forward.

Is it a mistake?
>>
How can learning more be a mistake?
>>
>>325948
i'd say it depends of lots of things like where are you based, the cost vs the educational value, will you be able to find a job locally, could you be able to build a network there, have you even researched the uni yet? who are professors? what % of the graduates got a job? do they have a internsship/agency programs? try contacting people who graduate there and compare the answers sometimes they're are easy to find on social media and usually they don't mind giving some time to answers your questions.
>>
>>325948
I mean if you've already got a good start on a successful career in the field, do you really need to go to school for anything?
>>
I have a comfy /gd/ job without any formal training ever, just have a decentish portfolio.
So if you enjoy the process go for it, but its by no means necesary.
>>
Tbh I find uni awesome, you get to learn for people who know a lot and have side chats with them about your career, I might get a couple internships this summer just by sucking up to teachers. Also your classmates are like minded people. And you'll learn a ton of new things, I recently realized how much I love copywriting and how much I dislike book layouts. It's a chance to experiment with things without having a client nagging at you forcing you to do ugly shit. You can be as free and creative as you want and have professional insight on your work. Why would you skip that?

I've been self-teaching myself for almost 3 years, and I've got photoshop down, but after effects and illustrator are a bit tougher for me, but usually I have logo design down and ready, but recently I've decided that I should make my own brand for graphic design. Around when I first started using photoshop, I made a logo for a YT brand of mine, except it was for music, I was originally planning to make it my GD logo as well, but then I realized the name was fucking retarded, so ffw to now I have the name dkilla, but making a logo for it just seems so difficult. I made this, but for some reason I'm not quite happy with it, and I wanted to know /gd/'s opinion

This might take no time at all:

I'm wanting a flyer/poster for my upcoming comedy tour.

It'll revolve around my picture, and having the couch be replaced by a collage of various pictures, that I'll provide.

The rest of the background would be Vaporwave influenced, giving a real eye-popping display. The font would be Vaporwave influenced as well.

Anyone interested? Shoot me an email at [email protected]

That's waaaay too much information for a social media banner, friendo.

I know it can be tempting to just shove everything on there but you have to think about how people actually use FB, as well as how FB itself formats those banners. If your page is managed properly people will be able to find your contact info and see from your posts exactly what services you offer or programs you use, so that's all redundant information.

On top of that, you have to remember that the sides don't show on mobile - your important info should be confined to the center.
