I'm learning to do Adobe Illustrator, and I need to cut off the corners that are sticking out. I've tried to use path manager by drawing another shape on top of the edge, but because the edge counts as the border and not the actual shape, I couldn't delete anything without deleting the shape itself too.What do I do?(am newfag sorry if I mess something up)
So the dark grey is all one shape, and the light greys are sitting on top of it?If that's the case, delete the dark grey, select all your shapes that you want to outline, then go to object > path > outline stroke, and put in a number that gives it an outline without creating the spikes.
Never mind, there were some changes in the requirements. I don't need to make them in different shades now.How do I close this thread?

Make one square shape with stroke no fill, one trapezoid with fill no outlineThen one trapezoid with fill#2 and same stroke as first square. Move stroke no fill square to top of layer, trap no stroke to bottom

I'm gonna be real, aside from the obvious mainstream ones (Draplin, Carson, Vignelli, etc.) I don't think I actually truly "know" the work of many designers. I look at random blogs for inspiration and occasionally check out a more well-established person's portfolio if I come across it, but that's kind of it.IMO kind of along the same train of thought that >>327255 is on, I just don't think graphic design lends itself to the "cult of personality" as well as other industries. Are there some jap typography designer? I wonder, how does japanese fonts are made. Do u rly have to draw 5000 kanji symbols, or there is some special technology?I can't imagine how can it work, if font doesn't include kanji that u need to type, especially if we talk about websites

OP here. I appreciate the lectures on figuring it out myself, which is convenient as I am actually in the process of doing that. I was just hoping to see how someone else does it. So for the sake of it, I'll post my progress of my two illustrations. I'd like to hear how I can do better.

You need to explain the brief better. What actual critique did the teacher give you? You never said. What did you initially do that the teacher changed? What do you need help with?Overall, the logo is fairly boring and amateur in appearance. Remove the lines above and below 'building ltd.' it makes it less legible. Your logo ideally needs to be easy to discern from a distance and at a small size.Try think about brand colours and in what way the branding will be applied or what it might look like in different contexts.
