Why do Americans have such low standards for trigger quality? Every American gun under $1000 has a heavy trigger. CZ and Tikka rifles come with standard with light triggers.

So my family watched Wknd River the other night. Overall it’s a solid movie in my opinion, but i have a question about the lever action Jeremy Renee used in the movie. Pic related shows him with a Marlin 1865 SBL which takes a 45-70 cartridge if I’m not mistaken. For those who have seen the movie, can it seriously pack as much punch as it showed in the movie? Several guys got blown back like the cartridge had some serious punch to it. It shows him reloading his own rounds and he talks to his son about gun safety (B.B. gun) so it’s not anti-gun or anything crazy from what I can tell.My stepdad loves collecting lever actions, but he’s more into the ornate aesthetics of guns than loving to shoot. I’ve read that lever action rifles can’t handle higher powered cartridges like a bolt action can, but like i said I’m no guru. Thoughts?
>>36112004Browning has been selling lever action 30-06's for many years. It is not a weak design, just one that has been around long enough to have been used with guns made from the softer metals of history.
>>36107768I have a marlin 30-30 and a savage 99E chambered in .308. They are absolutely amazing rifles, I use Hornady SST rounds with the polymer tip in my 30-30 and I've got awesome results, tight groupings, higher muzzle velocity, and superb ballistic results and the low recoil of the 30-30 is a plus. All six deer I've taken with the marlin have dropped dead on the spot. The savage has the smoothest action out of all my rifles, you can flick the lever and the bolt will fly open, and the savage has a top loading cylinder mag which is a plus for loading if you're a lefty. I highly recommend getting yourself a lever action, you won't be disappointed

>>36117747>In 1913, Fedorov submitted a prototype automatic rifle with a stripper clip-fed fixed magazine, chambered for his own experimental rimless 6.5 mm cartridge, called the 6.5mm FedorovOh wow, a whole protoype. Also it wasn't even an intermediate caliber by todays standards, AND it didn't feed from a detachable box magazine, which is one of the basic requirements for an assault rifle, after the intermediate caliber and select fire capability.

>>36116624>you cant.That literally is a .308 loading
>>36116660...which means you cant invent it because its already been done then? did you think about this for a single second?
>>36107556>opinion
>>36116676I;m not the guy that was talking about inventing it, your point was just stupid. You can have a different cartridge and still have the same caliber, bullet weight, energy and recoil. Same as you can have equivalent loadings for .30-06 and .308, but they remain different cartridges. The fact that the loading is the same as a .308 just shows that that combination of numbers is possible.
>>36107567"An intermediate cartridge is a rifle/carbine cartridge that is less powerful than typical full-power battle rifle cartridges, such as the .303 British, 7.62×54mmR, 7.92×57mm Mauser, .30-06 Springfield or 7.62×51mm NATO, but still has significantly longer effective range than pistol/personal defense weapon cartridges."

i think a good way would be to do it would be like how the romans used to fight or filtering the zombies through a choke point and killing them 1 at a time.
>>36117311>I know it's fiction and whatever but it tickles my autism because the premise is so flawed.Yeah, "infected" is a much better premise. I can suspend my disbelief enough believe in some sort of super-rabies that turns humans into aggressive feral animals.
>>36117379In hotter and more humid areas like the American south bodies become skeletonized in a matter of weeks. In the Northen areas it would take longer but cold would immobilize them. If you survive the initial outbreak and move away from cities (assuming you weren't in the countryside in the first place) you've basically survived the apocalypse and it will be over verz soon. This is the classic zombie scenario. The rage zombie scenario is a lot more destructive, but it would last even shorter. I don't think these rage zombies would be lucid to keep hydrating themselves, and since their bodies are still human and in overdrive they would die out super quickly. For that reason in particular my autism never really allowed me to enjoy "gritty" zombie stories. I enjoy the cheesy tongue-in-cheek stuff much more. The fantasy "I ain't gotta explain shit, it's Necromancy" explanation is also way better than when writers try to be all gritty and realistic.
>>36117430>The fantasy "I ain't gotta explain shit, it's Necromancy" explanation is also way better than when writers try to be all gritty and realistic.This. If you try to make it believable in 'our world', you need something that's fully coherent, or you won't suspend disbelief because you know it wouldn't really work. If you just make it about 'magic', we suspend disbelief because we just accept that in that world it works. If no explanation is given it works the same way, we just go along with it.Also, rage zombies are more realistic, and 'superhuman' strength wouldn't be impossible since our brain limits our strength output to avoid muscle or tendon damage. But then they wouldn't last longer than 2-3 days. On the other hand, if they're made a bit smarter, where they keep some of their human thought ability, you might improve the whole zombie thing. One thing I liked in the Walking dead (I'm just at like season 1 episode 3, won't go further than that season), is that zombies sort of started figuring things out at times, or acting a bit human. That increases tension because they might figure a way around your defenses, or act in an unpredictable way.As for surviving them, you just need to barricade yourself in your home if it's somewhat defensible for a week or two, and avoid any sources of contamination.

Qatar orders another twelve Rafales on top of the 24 it has already bought with an option for 36 more. >>36112671>It's most definitely not a "small" cost,Yes it is when compared to the whole package they'd be getting. Again, your sense of scale is completely off: $50m is not much when they are getting more than $10000m worth of planes, new weapons and gear to operate them. Swings in C$ exchange rate for example are going to have far bigger impact on the final price than any integration costs will.
