I also love Karl Kopinski https://www.instagram.com/karlkopinski/ and Dave Rapoza inks https://www.instagram.com/daverapoza/

Also, because my love for his art have no bounds, a link for a tumblr filled with awesome Akira Toriyama art: http://theartofakiratoriyama.tumblr.com/

love it! very good job

try to utilize different types of line weight, they look cluttered and the only different sized line is a bad one on the snake that doesn't follow through. also I think it could look neater folded into thirds like a triptych.

the body also swings side to side when running, we are not seeing the angles in between and so it just looks like the arms are merged.
Take it from yoshinari, even is it is a bit exaggerated

Sure man! Just as soon as you turn your image 90 degrees clockwise. Come on. You're making a thread for yourself instead of posting in the draw thread and you couldn't even be arsed to have your image right-side up.

how do I improve on my color theory? Most of my shit is rly bland and for this piece all I did was up the saturation on sai.

>>3225374
you theorize about colors until you're good at it.
>>
Always desaturate
>>
This is pretty appealing already, so you’re on your way. What’s lacking is value differentiation. Learning colours is fine, but for now, learning value is more important.

Everything looks too samey-samey. Try experimenting how dark or light you want your colours, until you find something that grabs your attention or stands out.
>>
You learn color theory by putting colors next to each other to see how that changes things.

You also have to learn value, light and dark. A light color next to a light color will sort of wash out that area, and so on and so forth.

Warms and cools are something you should know too. Warms tend to push forward while cools tend to recede.

IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the Drawthread with our fundamental exercises.

Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:

#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead

#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller

#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

was this intended to be as rough looking as it is
ND just look some mouths up for reference desu, it's cartoonish enough for most mouths to make sense
>>
>>3226721
>>3226748
I rly rly like these & think you capture personality well - they feel alive, which is something I value a lot in reference copying. you've evidently practiced some things more than others haha, but I think you have become very adept at those parts.
the whole outline of the head still feels like a flat shovel & I'm not sure whether that's because you're not practicing shading there yet; I'd recommend at least giving it a shot, I think you're ready for it. hyperawareness of getting the features' placement & angles correct (eg. in second image eye on our right doesn't align with the left like in the reference) will help to avoid the classic 'flat symbol drawing' look.

>>3227187
i think you got too used to drawing the head being positioned at a particular angle to the shoulders (ie. straight on), & didn't capture the essence of the pose?
I think the bear fur has great stylisation & shape though (I am not particularly skilled either so this may be incorrect)
you might want to reduce this one into a 30-second, etc. study to not get stuck on details

>>3226996
for this example alone, you want to be aware that that stretch of left muscle is pretty much a tube of even length. from there the rest of the waist got misjudged. I think you captured the essence pretty on the mark apart from that slip-up

>>3227132
proportions are going well! I think you could benefit from going back to boxy construction

Not a lot. The fear of turning 40 with nothing to show for it terrifies me a little bit so I want to illustrate a book at some point I suppose. I only like working traditionally so I'm never going to "make it" and don't want to either. I'd rather draw what I want in my spare time than be forced to become yet another fantasy concept artist drawing generic trash all day

A mix of seeing people more successful then me and wanting to draw porn of characters that don't have enough porn.

>>
>>3229473
no. I am an unfeeling art machine.

How do you attain the lifestyle that lets you actually have enough time and money to practice your art and git gud? Like, what jobs are there for somebody who wants to be an artist?

I'm trying to figure out what to do with my life and it seems like I either make enough money to survive and have no time to paint, or work part-time and have time to paint but no money to buy supplies or food.

Wanna git gud? Get a job in the trades. Learn great craftsmanship. It will improve your artwork tenfold

>I make around 2000 a month, depending on the tips

what state are you working in?
>>
>>3229495

I'm >>3229285

I got to work on some "artistic" stuff when I was working at the production company doing some concepts and basic 3D for commercials. The 3D was really useful but I could have probably learned more about the stuff that interests me (sculpting) on my own.

Overall jobs like that are much more demanding. I couldn't just go home and start working on my own shit. I always had a deadline on a project in the back of my mind or I had to learn a new program or something and I bet I could have learned more stuff if I'd been working in some really basic factory job or something and practicing in my free time. Just a personal opinion. I bet a lot of you guys can juggle intellectual tasks much better than I can.

If OP is really serious about becoming a great artist I'd recommend having a really stupid/simple profession that isn't taxing on your brain. For me it would be stuff like archiving files at an accounting company or selling clothes at a hipster clothing store (jobs I did before I knew what I wanted to do in life and wish I could still do).
>>
>>3229495
I hear this a lot, but whenever I talk to actual craftsmen and people at my college they always claim that it's really exhausting, leaves you with little free time, makes you too tired to paint... is that not true? or maybe just certain trades?

I was thinking electrical work or repair since my college offers certificates for that
