>upload drawings to social media
>git gud after a year or two drawing WHAT YOU WANT
>gain a bunch of followers who are the most loyal ones
THEEEEEEN
>finally whore yourself out by drawing fanart and porn
>followers reach astronomical levels
>go back to drawing what you want
So many people here just do it backwards. If you start drawing fanart right away, youll gain 500 - 1000 followers over night. but doing it my way, youll get 5000 - 10000; sakimichan level. muhahaha

You seem to have a fundamental misconception about how the world works
Your Skill=/= Your Pay
Sakimi supplies a product that people demand, people absolutely adore her fanart. They like the characters and style so much that they want to be able to paint just like her, so sakimi supplies them with her insights and processes through PSD files, voice overs, and other such tutorials.
Most of her patreons are not just random people who want to look at fan art porn, they are people who wish to paint like her.
Whether that product is good or not is irrelevant, because it is good enough.
Take McDonalds as an example, McDonalds burgers are really not all that good...in fact I would much rather have a burger from the burger shack run by Joe down the street, it is a superior burger. So than why does Joe not have a multibillion dollar franchise?
Sakimichan hits the right buttons stylistically and delivery wise.
It does not matter how good your product is, if you don't deliver it than no one gives a shit.
Look at KJG, he was a nobody until he did ONE youtube video of him drawing.
Sakimi should be an important lesson to all artists. It is not enough to just toss your work out there on twitter, you have to provide something that others don't.

>what links them is the IDEA of drawing like them
>one in the style
>the other in the technique
even another artist which I like atm or the ones which got me into drawing, now that i think about, I like(d) them because of the desire of drawing like them, and not necessarily because I found their art as the most awesome one in the world

how we found the truth anons?

You should stop posting about things you have little knowledge about. Some people are able to get by solely because of their access to the internet for ways to save more money in their lives.

It's believable. My major has 15 people in the senior class.
>>
>>3230345
>>3230375

In my anecdotal experience, which includes several hundred friends I have on facebook as well as many of their friends whom I'm familiar with, I only know 3 others that draw, and none of them have even attempted to make it a career. It's more of a "draw a little something once every three months" kind of thing.

For all you know, of those already completely hypothetical "100 self-taught artists" outside of the schools maybe 1 or 2 of them actually intend on pursuing art professionally. This is all conjecture either way, that statistic is imperfect, but it's the best input we currently have until something better comes along.

I have had more people mention to me they wanted to go to art school or had gone to art school while watching me draw at work than I know in my own life who even draw as a hobby.

In both the US and Europe the fact is if you're that serious about seeking work in a certain field you're most likely going to pursue an education in that field. I'm one of the very few people I know that hasn't had some kind of formal education in general, and I can't help but assume that this experience is relatively common for people of my generation.
>>
>>3230376
Doesn't sound 'intimate' to me. Probably just watching them on social media. If they never post anything art related you can probably assume they've quit.

I had 30 people in my illustration class. I'd say 5 are working at least part time, the other 25 are either failing or have quit. I know this, but I'm only friends with 2 of my former classmates. I guess some of them might be working under a pseudonym or NDA, or secretly... but you can sort of tell bcus the ones working were the ones who made the best work during school anyways.

Do you use a multi monitor setup? How useful is it to have the drawing app on one screen and reference or other stuff on the second screen?
6 replies and 1 image omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>3225405
It's dope.
I'll often have art on one and ref + distraction on another. Or like 4 different writing docs, or whatever, more space is good.

Problem is, unless you have identical screens, it may be hard to match colours between them. My laptop screen is way dimmer and cooler than my secondary and I can't really fix it with screen sdjustments.
>>
i had a second (third when my tablet is plugged in) monitor for a while but it kinda died recently :c
it was nice to be able to organize that much space to references and maybe a chat window or youtube video and the such, now i'm more often ending up having to spend time moving stuff around to switch between what i'm doing.

>>3225565
i'm much like this but weirdly enough i'm having more moments where i work in dead silence without realizing it cause somehow i still managed to fall into the flow
>>
Its nice because I can have netflix up one 1 screen, references/poses/whatever on another, and draw on the last one so i don't get bored.
>>
>>3225405
It's really nice but half and half just werks if you only have one monitor
>>
>>3225405
2 monitors + ipad
If I only had 1 monitor I'd make that work, but today I pretty much need 1 or 2 extra monitors.
But then, I also like to watch a show on one monitor.

Nsio kun.... this is Mark Crilley tier

WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO NSIO!? Why did he peak so early? I really wish he became some /ic/ meme whose on par with Kim Jung Gi or something, but this looks like some fetish piece done by a /beg/ painting animu girls for the first time.

Nsio keeps putting all of his skillpoints in technique. This is a hard pill for many artists to swallow - that technique is merely a means to an end and can't generate good art in itself. All the souless generic Feng Zhu shit is no better

This is the painting we could have seen being painted from scratch if the crowd at IAMAG wasnt literally retarded. Nice.

Oh I also dont know how to into anatomics
any good approach to this?
>>
>>3230226

First learn perspective and the other basics. Learn how to draw what you see etc etc. Then you get into anatomy. Without the fundamentals your stuff will be inherently flawed and you will have to relearn everything from scratch. I learned this from experience.

Art is based on a series of building blocks that need a good foundation otherwise it all falls apart.

You can't go into calculus without knowing what addition is.
