Thoughts and critiques? I only started drawing recently but I think it's not thAT bad. It's just shitty drawings of cartoony stuff or stuff I saw in cartoons.
>>3228592post work
looks like u like cartoons u should draw more cartoony things
>>3228589Learn construction, otherwise, you'll never be able to make your characters move in 3d space.
>>3228589please stp smearing the graphite it looks childish and really disgusting
>>3228589B-Blake... is that you?
Quick Question: How can improve eyes and hair?? it's supposed to be black, but how can I get more beauty and style with lights and shadow, or maybe is better to add some color??also, what could be a good landscape for this design
don't use pure black, even black hair is not pure black, lighten it a little bit then you can add shadowseyes too
>>3228056Try varying the line weight! Your problem might not be as rooted in color as you thinkGo over the silhouette of the image and the top of the eyes with a thicker line

that is not very nice now is it

Thank you for your participation! xxx
Is it normal as an artist while drawing to feel sad because what you're drawing is total crap and you don't know how or where to improve and feel like you never will?
>>3229081Generally, yes, it is normal to be very self-critical. If you are content with your drawing all the time, something is wrong with you.
>>3229081Of course. As you begin to get a better grasp on exactly what the fundamentals are, then you will feel comfortable finding books, guides, and/or tips about it so you can improve. At some point, you'll be improving them one by one or preferably a little all at once and not even know the feeling of artistic futility anymore because you know how to go about fine tuning your craft.
>>3229087… while adding that being content with your drawing is not the same as loving the process of drawing. In the beginning, I would recommend that you keep your drawings to yourself and not upload all of it to websites, as people may shit on your work, because you are still developing. All it will do at best is destroy your motivation.

Thats a very good H

>>3227719Him opening a thread at all is basically an open invitation to get shit on. But yeah I think it looks pretty gud.
>>3225624Bob Ross was a shitty day time tv artist teaching old women how to avoid falling into depression. Don't kid yourself.
>>3228936if that thought helps you feel better about your sub par art, then i guess thats thatalso, even by those standards he is still miles and miles above you
>>3228936Post work let's see your top tier landscape paintings.
>>3225563you did well anon, nice piece
What was your first piece you made that you know people fapped to? Did you consider it a right of passage when people finally started fapping to your work? Are you proud of it, or did you do it just for the views?i personally have not made it there yet.
A dude commissioned me to do a comic about two girls wrestling/cat fighting, dunno if he faps to it tho.Don't feel like asking him either
The only reason why I want to git gud at drawing is so that I can masturbate to my own work and not have to wait for it to be done by someone else, because it's pretty rare for me to find something new that I can jerk off to latelyso yeah I suppose if your intention for drawing is to make ball-busting porn the first time someone masturbated to your work must be a milestone
Someone asked me for a picture of a reverse centaur on /mlp/, human body on the bottom but out of the human neck there was a pony from about the belly upwards. I thought it was just for fun but they started talking about having fapped to it and finding a new fetish, requesting tons of porn of them... ended up drawing it themselves when I said I wouldn't go there. That's when I quit drawfagging on that board. Stupid horsefuckers...
>>3228895>>3228918>>3228967wow. these are the worst yet most entertaining answers anyone could give.congrats, seriously
Hey bros, I haven't seen one of these in a while, let's have a group study thread.

>>3228739look on the photo not the paper. You are drawing what you think is there
Have anyone experience using this to draw? How does it feels like?
>>3227823I have come back with the results!Uhh...I have a tablet too btw. I think ya'll can guess which tool made what lol
Trackball is nice as a ergonomic browsing/pc use tool for your battle station but fuck I’d never try to draw with it unless you’re a pen tool wizard in PS

>go to art classes>super useful at first, good teachers, nice advice>do a year of classes>make decent gains >put in mileage I otherwise wouldn't put in>advice and critique gets less and less effective>see the flaws in the teaching methods and teachers>doubt art classes at all anymore especially for the cost.>figure I can get just as much from doing studies alone nowAre all art classes doomed to become obsolete. Is being a nomadic student the best method?
>>3226458>This is bunkI'm speaking about working on a painting. If you force yourself to work on a painting and you don't feel like it / feel like you can't work as concentrated as you'd wish today, you shouldn't touch it. Sketching is fine, even if you don't feel like it and you have to force yourself to the practice, you can start to sketch anytime you want. But you risk ruining a painting, if you force it.
>>3225782You are either talented or not, classes will teach you good techniques at first, but you need to feel the art, it must be your talent.Art classes are a meme by the way, talented artist make money through it again, since selling art is shitty today.
all that's required to learn well is a sound mind and self-discipline. with those, you'll have the ability to critically think and problem solve on a regular basis in order to learn the most effectively that you can.that being said, if you don't have either of those art school isn't a horrible investment, but it's probably not your best option either. i'm on my way out and accruing over 100k in loans, and i learned a fuck ton, but it was really only useful for a little over a couple of years and now it's almost irrelevant. a good school, however, should teach you more about life than you'd be able to study on your own. it is the experiences of your peers and teachers that will accelerate your learning curve, not the assignments themselves. it's how you learn from their teaching, not necessarily what assignments they give you.the strengthening of the spirit is the fastest path to learning.
>>3225782No, i do local oil painting classes, i find flaws in my teachers methods of teaching but he's a greta painter otherwise. When he teaches me something I don't fully understand, i go hit up some books or YouTube and try apply that method ask him about it rinse and repeat. Art classes serve as a method to instruct you on what youre doing wring and how to get it right, it just ultimately lies up to you not to abuse this and practice in your own time so you can become good enough to spot your own errors and fix them Though I do experience great difficulty without my art tutor and I find that it takes longer to paint without him, I eventually get it right.
This is Ryan Ottley's response to being asked if he recommended going to art school:>Never. Never ever ever. Art college never gave anyone talent. And you can attain skill for free by practice.>Ask any professional comic artist who went to art school to show you their work right before art school, it’s probably not too much different from their work after school, they probably acquired more skill, which I think they could have gotten without school with their own personal determination and scouring the internet for techniques. The only advantage school has over learning on your own is you are surrounded by your kind, your in-group, and you have a teacher giving you assignments that you will take seriously because you payed so much money to be there. Which might be the only thing that can get some people to do the work. But to me, is not worth the debt you will accrue from going to an art school and not being able to pay back anytime soon because getting a job in comics is rare and getting even an average pay comic job is even more rare.>So no, I would never recommend art college. Learn to take your practice seriously alone. Find a group of local artists to draw with so you don’t feel so alone, practice obsessively, give yourself assignments. There is even small workshops I’ve seen artists do who divulge lots of cool skill over a short period of time and for MUCH less than a college. Get art books, study Andrew Loomis obsessively. Study layouts of any artist with dynamic layouts, study different artists styles, never just be influenced by one artist, have an arsenal of artists you love and pull skill from. Fill up sketchbooks, one for learning anatomy, one for faces, just make a bunch of specific art books for different practices, get hungry, you can do this without paying a high price to a school to keep you on task. [...]Rest on http://ryanottley.tumblr.com/post/168048846037/would-you-recommend-going-to-art-college
how do i into painting like pic related? it seems to be a fairly inaccessible medium
>>3226309okay, that >>3227047 was pretty mean, I'm sorry.
Hope this video helps anon https://youtu.be/tLLRhpP4noQ
>>3224796Take a course somewhere, your local museums definitely have them, and I'm sure there's colleges nearby.Oil painting is really fun.
oil painting is really kicking my ass guys, it’s so stubborn and hard to control, and i don’t have the patience for it. i really wish water colours could produce the sameness kinds of results as the op pic, they’re so much easier to control comparatively
>>3227601Chex>>3227601This helps a lot http://youtube.com/watch?v=tLLRhpP4noQ
