I work at night since 4 years now and my sleeping pattern is really ok from now. I work from 9pm until 7am and I tend to sleep from 8am until 2pm mostly. BUT since 1 years, when I have my days off , I will have one day when I cannot sleep AT ALL. Like my brain is at work whereas it’s my day off. It only happens one day a week but it’s becoming a pattern right now. How do I recover from this ? I want my sleep back right now..

>Work out nigga
Yup. If your body isn't tired enough to actually sleep you're gonna have a bad time. Can I assume its some sort of labor(stocking cans for a grocery store, factory)? That will get you tired enough during the week, but if you are lazy on your day off your body isn't used to not working so it has built up energy.

My wording is a little weird at the end, thank alcohol for that.

Hey /adv/. What would you, personally, consider to be "heavy drinking"? Not necessarily "problem drinking" or "alcoholism," since that has more to do with whether your drinking is affecting your job, social life or health. I'm just wondering at what point (drinks / day or drinks / week, whichever) you'd consider somebody to have crossed over from "moderate drinker" to a heavy alcohol user.

The "official" definition is something like 14 drinks a week for a man, and I'm sorry, that might or might not be based on doctors' recommendations, but that's just fucking out of touch with how most people actually live. So I'm collecting second opinions from actual people.

I have been drinking a skinny of Captian Morgan a day for about 3 years. What would you call that?

PS: I get periodic liver pains.
>>
Drinking more than 3 beers a day or more than 2 glasses of wine.
>>
>>19025459
I think it entirely depends on your body size and metabolism. I would put it at drinking to get drunk more than once a week.
>>
>>19025459
"heavy drinking"
>6-8 beers in one night
>6 shots in one night
Going overboard is > above

>The "official" definition is something like 14 drinks a week for a man, and I'm sorry, that might or might not be based on doctors' recommendations, but that's just fucking out of touch with how most people actually live.

In my country (W-EU) they changed it to 10 drinks a week, and at least 2 days of not drinking every week.

Alcohol is poison, even in low quantities. That said, if you enjoy drinking and it doesn't interfere with your job, social life or whatever, go ahead. Living will eventually kill you, might as well have a couple drinks.

Nice meme
>>
>>19023063
See, you got it all wrong, the burden of proof isn't on me bud, you have to give me a reason -to- do it.
Protip, there is none. All reason is ordered to life therefore if you are suicidal then you are not concerned with reason. And this fact alone is why nobody should kill themselves, because it represents the throwing away of reason.

There is also a dialectical element in suicide: If you are suicide then it is probably because you are suffering and hence seek out the removal of said suffering. However, suffering is bad precisely because it infringes on life, the removal of suffering is good because it is cohesive to life. This means that suicide is about as reasonable as starving yourself out of hunger or drowning yourself out of a need for air.
Suicide, then, is in fact at its core a strong desire for life twisted into something grotesque BY YOUR OWN LAZINESS. You are using your fear as a weapon to control other people because you are too stubborn to change yourself. Don't take this as criticism, it's just the way things are, it's what it means to be a finite human being. Think of it as a limit, let's say God/life/beatitude/whatever is infinity, so what does that make us? We are that integer always tending to infinity. Does that integer in the limit ever reach its destination? It is beyond us to know. It may very well come screeching to a stop, balanced supremely on the pinhead of eternity beyond all numbers, but as we are the same as it, we can never know, we can only make it our business to climb. He who etches into his soul an infinite thirst for his beatitude, and acts accordingly, will reach it in eternity.
The limit to 10? Worthless. Limit to 1000000000? also worthless. The only limit that matters is the one to infinity. If your full happiness takes the form of any number of finite things no matter how large, then your happiness is worthless because it dies with the universe. And in the end the real measure of a soul is its capacity for happiness
>>
>>19023063
I can't give you a reason not to kill yourself. I don't know who you are or what's brought you to this choice. If you're seeking a life-affirming catharsis, it's a something you should be looking for within yourself. If you want a general perspective, however, all I can offer is that life has no inherent meaning or purpose. Eventually we all realize that we are in no innate way special, memorable, or worthwhile. There are a million and one others just like you and no one outside of a small circle of family/friends will care if you died today. The only real meaning in our lives stems from pursuit of goals. Reaching personal milestones is essentially the only true way to feel like you have a purpose you're actively fulfilling. Don't seek validation or acceptance from others; go out and just do something.

I find myself in a position I've never been in before. Here's the situation:

>started online dating
>chatted to a few girls but got closer to 2 of them
>met both on separate dates
>One of them is always working but still texts a lot to try and make plans
>The other is a bit younger and naive, maybe a bit simple

Basically I'm trying to distance myself from the younger chick but I don't wanna be the cunt who ghosts her
>>
>>19025162
Don't convey anything sexual in any way, shape or form. Don't flirt with her, don't touch her too much etc.
If the girl still falls for you, that's her problem, not yours.
>>
>>19025162
I think that's pretty upstanding, OP. What kind of conversation do you have now with the younger one? What chance is there that you can soon tell her that you are no longer interested in developing a relationship with her? Are you really trying to get her to the friendzone, or would you rather not have to talk to her ever again, though you both understand that it's because you each want to focus your communication energy elsewhere?

But i cant help but feel concerned. I dont know if shes fine, if she lost her phone or if like she just suddenly hates me and is ignoring me. she almost always responds to my texts within a few hours.

Have you broken down and texted her yet like the weak and pathetic fool you are. She deserves a real man, one who isn’t afraid of a ducking day of silence.
>>
>>19024092
Even when the two of you are still seeing each other, using texting to hold conversations on anything that doesn't ultimately lead up to when you're gonna see each other is a fuck up. Or at least it is with women. Using it to keep daily tabs and blog about your day especially are the biggest mistakes you can make since you're just robbing yourself of easy conversations when you do actually meet and are taking away the value of your time.

Some girl stopped texting me mid way though planning a date, only found out on friday that shes going out with someone else.

Dont play games anon, none of these hoes are worth the shit that they pull. If you think shes playing with you, then honestly I think you should pull out before you get hurt.

Her and I have been together around 6/7 months. Known each other for a year before that. We love each other and things are seemingly perfect.

I've had relationships before her and have dated a few more on top of that but have never felt this way about a girl. This is the first time I've fallen in love. On the same token, I've never felt genuine insecurity about myself and the relationship before. My heart and my mind don't end up level. I become insecure that she's secretly unsatisfied with the relationship and that I'm just a means to an end. Which is strange because I've always been extremely confident about relationships and with myself when I was single. She's done nothing to make me feel this way, it's all in my head.

I end up with two or three distinct, reoccurring insecurities that I know are absurd mentally but emotionally they feel very real. She knows I have things that bother me. She's asked about it if I've been in a bum mood and I've told her that I'm feeling insecure about things and I'm being retarded. She wanted to know what. I told her that I would, but I'm worried that once she knows that she will act in a way that seems like she's trying to subtly reassure me throughout our relationship when it comes to my insecurities.

One of them is that I'm not good enough for her in bed. I'm worried that if I tell her I'm insecure about our bedroom life she'll act differently, and the idea that she'd be doing it out of pity would only make me feel worse, and it would be irreversible.

She told me she will never pry on these issues. I said I would get over them on my own. And for two of these insecurities (Including the bedroom one) I have. But is it healthy to suffer for a few months at a time each time there's a new insecurity that arises, even though I eventually get over it on my own accord?
>>
Has something changed elsewhere in your life? I.E. did you get fired from your job, someone you know die?
I personally have lost a job and I screwed things up with my gf at the time because of it. Losing a job can wreck confidence, which can spill over elsewhere.

Guys I don't know what to do. I was at a 50th birthday party with my mate to keep him company because it was his aunts birthday at a pub. I have a small bladder and when I drink I need to use the toliet a lot however his cousin and mates thought I was doing drugs and assaulted me, literally strangling me and beating me up. I then left shocked and confused. No one except my mate and his family think I'm innocent, I don't know what to do I'm fuelled by revenge at the moment and just furious with the whole situation.
>>
>>19025737
fuck, this kind of stuff is infuriating

it depends on what you want really

if they're the kind of people to beat you up without evidence,
trying to get revenge could only make things a lot worse

you could always press charges, but it might not be worth your time / money
>>
>>19025737

>did it happen very recently

>do you still have visible injuries / proof that you were in fact injured

>is there any proof those people specifically are the ones who assaulted you

>do you have enough money to hire a lawyer

The problem is they were talking crap behind your back, not the drugs, meaning they don't like you.

How do I explain to this girl at work I asked out on a date that I don't want to anymore. I just asked her out on a whim and didnt really think it through, shes super nice and everything but I just dont feel its a good idea to date a woman I work with. I know I was stupid to ask her out in the first place but what can I say now to her that wont make her to mad or upset?

Then just go with the girl and have fun, and tell her straight up that you're still kinda fucked up from the previous thing, so you don't know if you and her can actually be anything. Doesn't have to be weird, man. Just have fun like you would one of your friends, who knows, maybe you'll actually like the girl. Also, girls who appear "good" are often not in a lot of regards. You know this.
>>
>>19025900
Then you don't have a date. If you don't have a day at least then that shit's not happening. She's not your girlfriend, she doesn't care that much she's gonna forget. Don't stress and keep doing your life. She ever confronts you about it just take a line from the girl book "Huh?! I didn't think you were serious!" situation deflated.

I'm a 20 yr old college dropout and I pretty much turned myself into a multimillionaire this year because of a few investments here and there, I've always been unhappy even when I was poor I feel unhappy around most people and even when I'm not around people. It's getting to the point where it hurts to do basic things such as shower/ brush teeth etc, I wake up, order breakfast thru uber eats and browse 4chan/play vidya games all day. I have pretty much everything i want. I feel no desire for a relationship and the only feelings I have towards women are lustful, once that goes away I don't want anything to do with them so I don't see why a relationship is needed. Any advice you can give a broken human like me.

Different anon. I had a lot of trouble finding my passion until I was made to do a project that greatly helped me. You will need cardboard, paint, and scissors at the very least. Glue/tape, markers, clay, an exacto knife, and any other creative media will help.

What you want to do is build a store. Any kind of store you want. (Not just like, an iphone store because they make money, unless that's really what you want to make). Floor, walls, some windows, a door. Build a tiny counter, some accessories, even bathrooms. Paint it, put some detail in it. The kind of store you want to run will reveal or be closely related to the things that drive you. Plus it's something creative and constructive that will keep you off of Mongolian chalkboard forums for a few hours.

I had a huge blowout with my mother on Wednesday. She is pretty unstable and I mentioned I might put in an application for a dream job. She immediately declared me a failure and a loser, told me I needed to "grow up," and that adults don't leave their jobs ever. She exclaimed that I ruined her Christmas and that I'm terrible.

My dad came over to my house to calm things down and we ended up getting into a fight because he says I shouldn't express my feelings to her, and that I'm never happy and won't be happy in a different job no matter what I do. We were up until 3 in the morning fighting and I had to call out of work the next day.

Anyways, I don't feel that if I "ruined Christmas," I should celebrate the holiday with the family. He sent me a guilty email on Friday revealing that he has to have surgery and that if I don't join, it's going to cause him a lot of stress and will hurt the family permanently. But I have no spirit for celebration, and I don't want to talk to her anymore, because she refuses to support me.

What do I do here? Suck it up and celebrate? Or make my own plans?

Fuck those guys anon. They may be your parents, and you may feel obligated to support and love them, but that doesnt give them a "be a cunt to anon free card". go support your dad through his surgery but shoot for the stars you set for yourself and be the best man you can be.
>>
>>19025287
You can apply but that doesn't mean you'll take the job.
Sounds like your parents are a bunch of dicks.
>>
Why even tell them that you think about switching jobs. Just do what you want, they'll rage anyway no matter what. Next week, maybe they'll complain that you're still stuck in your dead-end job? I guess they're anally devastated because your possible success in the new job will empower you and diminish the control they have over your life. Narcissists hate that more than anything, thus the immediate abusive backlash. Was this kind of behaviour normal in your upbringing? To them, you're the source of their narcissistic supply, so naturally they want to control you, suffocating you in the process.

Your parents are certainly abusive. Fuck them (not literally). Blackmailing you into joining the christmas celebration is transparent manipulation. Don't be manipulated. Don't go if you don't want to, establish healthy boundaries. Punish them for abusive behaviour. You'll indeed never be happy in this or a different job if you allow your parents to pull you down.

Be your own person. Live your own life. Disregard narcissists trying to control you.

t. effectively breaking contact with my father was the healthiest thing I ever did in my entire life.

Wherever you are, whomever you find yourself with, and whichever circumstances you find yourself facing, always remember to be kind. Stick to your principles. I am working as hard as I can to make you, the 20 year old me, the best and only version of me. This is only a few years away tho, and I fear I won't have enough time. Thinking about it, the best version of me is the one who always tried to improve. Is kind with the world. Lives by his principles no matter how much they fuck us over. I don't know if you have found that special someone by then, if you did, hold on tight and review your journal. Don't make the same mistakes I am doing and continue to do. Have fun kiddo.

Hello /adv/. I'm in a relationship with a girl I met a year and a half ago. We split up cause I was kind of inmature at the time and I didn't want to get into something serious. But about half a year ago she talked to me in a party, told me she liked me a lot and that she wanted to start again. We've been dating since then but lately the relationship has been getting a bit cold, and I'm the one who always has to adapt my calendar to be able to meet. Besides, yesterday we went to a bar with some friends, we got very drunk and at one point she said something like "He jumps when I say so" referring to me (not exactly like that, I'm not english). And honestly, I'm fucking tired of that bullshit, and of her not realising how hard I try to be able to go out with her. I'm going to talk with her tonight but I'm seriously thinking about leaving her. What do you guys think?
>>
>>19025951

Dump the bitch. If she's even bragging to friends about how she has squeezed your balls and you have to run after her, she's not worthy of you and doesn't appreciate how hard you try to make things work. You deserve better - leave her and find some decent gal.
>>

M8 you are the problem and if you find someone else and do the same, you'll still be the problem in the relationshit.(meant to misspell)
>>
So stop "jumping when she tells you to", stop adapting your calendar for her and all that. Put yourself first and if it doesn't work look for something else.

Whoever said "relationships take sacrifices" was an idiot. 90% of the time you have to make sacrifices in a relationship it's because the relationship is a bad one. And if you're the only one making sacrifices that percentage goes to 100%. And whoever said "you should put your partner first" was an even bigger idiot.

How much should my boyfriend spend on a ring?

We've been together for 5 years now and we are talking about getting engaged, but when I brought up the idea that I think diamonds are a waste of money he was shocked.

I told him to not spend more than 200 bucks on me, but he is really upset by this. He is going to earn his MD this year and feels like he will be judged by his colleagues when they meet me. To offer some context, I come from a very poor background while he comes from a upper middle class background which we think plays a role in this argument. Your thoughts /adv/?

Weddings can be fucked up in some countries specially the usa. People feel the need to express their relationship through materialistic value or they might think other will think that their relationship is no good. I know people at businesses where when it is Valentine's day they get send the most huge bouquets at work so everyone can see it, same with weddings and rings. It is merely because they think others might think they are not taking 'care' of their loved ones.
