Linux is the Christianity of operating systems. Think about it:>tons of similar but incompatible versions>shitty clone of somebody else’s design>basically hacked together by a bunch of different people and therefore has no consistency>keeps legacy shit nobody uses around for “compatibility”>is currently being assraped by Muslims aka Windows users and Jews aka Mac users

The Intel ME, or Management Engine, is a secondary co-processor in every single Intel chip in the last decade. It runs a MINIX-based operating system and has full networking capabilities, drivers, and a goddamn web server in it.https://www.networkworld.com/article/3236064/servers/minix-the-most-popular-os-in-the-world-thanks-to-intel.htmlThis page offers additional information, and explains that it can read your files and applications, act as a keylogger, capture the screen, inject rootkits, etc.https://libreboot.org/faq.html#intelmeVery nasty stuff, and no, the HAP bit thing isn't a full fixhttps://firmwaresecurity.com/2017/12/06/bheu-slides-on-intel-me-vuln-uploaded/Comment too long. >>63769061Yeah pretty much. I think they might be supporting Core2Quad on the T500/W500 too.As for anything newer, they had a thing a while ago where you could pre-order an x220 (Which is Sandybridge), and they'd ship it by the end of this december once they figured out how to libreboot it. Doesn't look like that's gonna happen in time, but they did have the page up, and one anon claims they're still working on it.
>>63769061Also, if you go AMD, the newest you can get is a bit later, with the D16 server/workstation board with 2 Opterons

>>63771643Yes, build everything. It's only a compilation time and few mb extra disk space that is the tradeoff
>>63744462Have you checked the process? Gentoo is bogged down by councils, regulations, rules, bureaucracy. It's too much a PITA to be a Gentoo maintainer, even a "proxy-maintainer". No wonder people just dump their ebuilds to their own git repos
>>63771738To build EVERYTHING is really a lot of time though. I think I can make the kernel compilation at least 3 times quicker if I disable everything I don't need. Meaning for me it would be like 20 minutes instead of an hour or something.

Hey /g/ is it technically possible to build a large battery that charges itself below 8A but can charge a car battery with your usual 11kW and 16A?
>>63771194Your question is, at best, confusing. You should get some help on understanding basic electricty concepts.
>>63771558Not to mention that 11kW with just 16A requires some 687.5V, so not a car battery - or just, as you say, confusing. Electric car? Cannot say, without more information.
>>63771664Car battery wallboxes need to be connected to 400V 50Hz 16A to charge cars. Idk what OP wants but you can connect a car to your usual household powersockets via adapter. You just can not charge them with 11kWh like that. Household power outlets let you charge at like 1/4th of the speed.
>>63771194You make no sense.

I have a refurbished surface book with dgpu that I got from the last sale for 800 bucks. Its has been pretty great so far, you can game on it and it doesn't seem to throttle. Battery lasts for 10-11 hours surfing / watching videos. The tablet portion is pretty comfy for shitposting in bed but the battery life on it is not that great (~3h) and windows is really difficult to use with just a touch screen.Great for taking notes and drawing. If this thing doesnt break in the next two years I would say it has been the best laptop I've owned.
I bought an asus transformer and ended up loving the tablet/laptop concept. The screen ended up cracking. So I have a chuwi hi10 now.The surface is just too expensive for what it has imo. New ones go for my desktop build which is 1800X/1080ti + everything else. Granted I'm not including monitor price. Even older versions not running rt are 300+$.I'd buy though if I made more money.
Why are printers so fucking shit?No seriously, every single printer is a pile of shit that can't work properly for even a few months.

When i boot up my PC it spins then after like 5 mins it stop spinning. While gaming CPU (ryzen)temperatures are up to 68 celsius and while idle 45...that is while fan is not spinning. PC is rather new and i had no problem before. Maybe modern fans dont spin 24/7? Thanks in advanceFans options are on "Standard" options in BIOS and if i set it to "Performance" it doesnt stop spinning...whats going on?
Its very confusing for me, ive read somewhere that fans are supposed to run 24/7 (ofc if PC is on) no matter what

The offset Escape key annoyed me for about a week before I got used to using Caps Lock as Escape. I never used Caps Lock anyways and I had bound it to no action.
