How long did it take you guys to switch from membrane to mechanical? I recently (1-2 weeks) switched to my first mechanical keyboard (mx blacks) and have had a hard time writing since. Ive used membranes all my life and had pretty solid typing skills (90-120wpm with little to no errors) but now i can barely scrape up 60-90 wpm with lots of errors (not missing the right letters but rather the order of the letters, e.g. "aec" instead of "ace")

is it a question of time or are just people who are better off with membranes?

Got my first mechanical earlier this year around June time. It was a Logitech G819 with the meme Romer switches and then a couple months later moved on to a Apex M750 by SteelSeries that uses a knock-off of a Kahliah(?) switch which I find is much better for typing, for me at least.
>>
>>63773075
They are loud as fuck though.

I have even banned them at my office.
My employees have to use browns instead.
>>
>>63773121
Yeah that's an issue if you work in an open office kind of environment.

Browns will do in those circumstances.

Just stick with it OP. Once you get a hang of it every membrane keyboard feels like shit.
>>
Get yourself something with Brown or Blue. Both are tactile. You feel resistance which disappears with a click that lets you know the switch has been activated. Brown isn't as loud so it's the safer option. Some people like the click, some people hate it.

World of difference from the Black which is a linear switch and just offers the same amount of resistance all the way down. They're usually used in cash registers and are better suited for people who like to slam the keys down.
>>
You should have gotten brown or clears. They have that tactile bump without the clicky noise of blues or greens.

Your first week or two is gonna result in tired fingers. You’ll get used to it and your fingers will get stronger. My first week with Browns was exhausting because I would always bottom them out. Currently I have clears and thanks to using Browns for so long I don’t bottom out as often with them despite the extra force needed. It’s really just a matter of using the keyboard extensively and lettting your fingers get stronger

That said, your first week or two will result in more tired out fingers. It happens overtime and eventually you’ll feel really confident about your typing ability on a mech keyboard.

Is there any program that does this to completely turn off blue subpixels instead of messing with color temperature?

Yes, that turns off all blue subpixels, but it doesn't accomplish what the pictures in those articles do.

Macbook

>good screen
>good battery life
>comes with a good os installed that just works for normie shit and dev shit
>best build quality
>best customer support
>company that at least pretends to care about your privacy

Yeah, they're "overpriced" for the specs, and the most recent generation of MBPs aren't as good as the previous ones imo, but at least I don't have to put up with the other vendors' autistic shit. In exchange for what, too? I get a new laptop every 3 or 4 years anyways so I don't care about upgradable shit and old macbooks are powerful enough to handle home server/media pc workloads. I'm not a clumsy retard and have never had a laptop break, so I don't give a shit that the chinkpads are waterproof or whatever either. I just want something I can buy, open up, and have my dev environment setup within half an hour.
>>
>>63772828
Dell offers exactly the same stuff but is cheaper.
>>
I've got one. Build quality is better than Dell, cheaper than apple, IPS FHD is gorgeous and I get 10-11 hours of battery.

Try specing up any other ultra book without getting a touch screen.

No Raven Ridge, no buy

First off, I'd like to open this by saying that this is NOT a pro-Chrome or Pro-Google thread. Far from it.
However, you've got some explaining to do.
This browser claims to respect user freedom and privacy,
but what the fuck is this then?
https://gist.github.com/haasn/69e19fc2fe0e25f3cff5

Firefox sends Google search/download data, and needs so much about:config tweaking!
Plus this whole list isn't even up to date!
here is likely even more shit they've added that needs to be disabled, and who knows what they'll add later?

Why does this crap need to be here?
Why can't I just have a fucking browser?
"""Telemetry""" shouldn't exist.
Browser botnet shouldn't exist.
Should I just install Brave or Icecat or something?

>No, you're the one lying. If you disable telemetry only through the interface, it'll still generate telemetry reports and save them offline. This behavior is defined by a flag in about: config and is on by default.

In what way? For me it gives me the cost capacity, nice read speed bump and even tolerate a drive failure. Raid1 or raid10 gets fucking expensive quickly for how much storage you end up with.
>>
>>63773118
"home use", I am talking about how most people use their computers.
Where you really need redundancy and drive failure tolerance is no longer a home use (even if we are talking about your server in the next room).
Anyway, you know the deal:

-no need for a new hard disk. Every modern gnu+linux distros installer can resize your windows partitions safely. If you cut from the end of your drive, even the operation is just a few seconds. The resizer will move any data from there to an earlier position to free space.
-600GB is a lot, just give like 50-100GB for gnu/linux so you can install as many stuff as you want, maybe even a few steam games if you game.
-start with ubuntu or variants (kubuntu, xubuntu, lubuntu, ubuntu-mate). Google an image of them and decide which looks good for you. If you make up your mind later you can install the other version by installing a simple metapackage, no need for reinstall. There are two ubuntu versions available: 16.04 LTS and 17.10. Go with the long term supported and stable LTS version.
-cloverOS is a meme.

>With an NH-D15 you could still push a non-delidded 4790k to 1.3v+ and keep it under 80c
I kind of doubt it, I'm barely keeping my 4790K under 80C at 1.305V with a custom water loop on a 360mm rad. I haven't tested a NH-D15 (doesn't fit on my board due to a graphics card in the 1st slot) but I've played around with a H110i GT from a friend and the CPU thermal throttled under synthetic load (OCCT stress test) while it hit like 85-87C on my custom loop. NH-D15 performs nearly identically to that AIO from the reviews I've seen, so I seriously doubt it will somehow keep a 1.3V 4790K under 80C at all times.

Ryzen pretty much hits the wall at about 4GHz, you're not going way beyond that no matter what and even 16C Threadripper can go that high, provided you cool it adequately. You're not going to get some miracle clock just because the CPU is a quad core.

So I worked in a call center for three months during this summer to make some extra money. Most queries were about newspaper subscription -related stuff for the company we were working with. Needless to say they also had their news online, in applications and etc. I also managed emails.

>Call
>Woman, middle aged, coherent and polite explains that she manages a "leading" consulting company which requires constant knowledge of local news, mostly municipal politics
>Says that she can't read the paper online
>The company we were working with hadn't made any announcements directly to customer service agents but the new update in Firefox fucked up their upward compatibility and the prompts clearly say .js is slowing the page down
>Quite frankly they're not only making damage to themselves but to us as well
>Explain the situation and apologize, ask her to temporarily use a different browser
>Politeness stops
>"How can you know this if you said that no official announcements have been made?"
>"Ma'am, I tried it myself on my desktop yesterday when I was home which confirmed my suspicion."
>"Well you need to tell the tech boyo's there to actually do something. Do you know how much money I've lost due to this?"
>"Ma'am, I have no idea."
>"I've lost a week of news because of your problem and now I have to read them all, I demand two months of compensation."
>"Ma'am, I'm sorry to inform you that I'm not authorized to do that. I'm sorry that you've encountered this problem. Normally it isn't company policy to comp online subscriptions but I can make an exception here for two weeks."
