You could also just move 5 meters away so you're not standing in them.Try to get used to handling Oni without popping LW every time, LW is kind of a new player crutch and you won't be able to get through the game if you need to pop it on every mob.The Oni falling to the floor with 'health all gone' is actually only losing all his stamina, this probably means your LW attack hit his horn which will break his stamina and make him fall over. You can do this without LW, you just need to hit the head with a vertical attack.Easiest thing to do with Oni from the start is move close to bait an attack then step back out of the way, since their attacks are fairly slow you can out space them. Get used to the animations, go for a horn hit after they miss their attack string.
