So I'm starting my own hydroponics...thing. Not really a farm. I just want to be able to grow crops and see how well they do without soil. Trouble is, I can't find anywhere near me that sells the specific nutrients that plants sustained in a hydroponic system need. So I'm looking for substitutes. One of the first things that came to my mind was cows milk. Or at least, a very small amount of it. If I put about a teaspoon in a 200 ml. bottle and put a plant in it, would the milk provide the necessary nutrients a plant needs? You talk about eigenvalues, so I suppose A is square. You can approximate eigenvalues by iterating x <- A(x)/||x|| sufficiently many times. ||A(x)||/||x|| should converge to the absolute value of the maximum absolute value eigenvalue. If negative eigenvalues are a problem, there ways around them.
