I'm moving into a new apartment and every room except is carpeted, which I hate, so I want to see if I can make/buy some faux wood floor mats to put over it. Also any suggestions on how to transfer a pattern onto such a surface beyond painting would be welcomed, I already have a few ideas but I'm sure someone here knows a better way.

I really dont know if this is the correct board to ask for this, but whatever.I purchased a resin figure from a guy and now I want to paint it, my question is should i wear a respirator when sanding the surface to prevent respiratory problems?I've seen and heared that a respirator and a vacuum cleaner sucking the resin dust are practically mandatory but people use them when cutting resin parts or drilling holes on them so i dont know if slightly sanding the surface of the figure is one of these scenarios.

For what little work you'll be doing a respirator isn't worth. A desk fan set to low would be jut as good.

Got this wood from a buddy's shed we tore down. Not sure what it is. Has the same grain structure as red oak but is brown in color. Thinking it might be ash. For reference this is in MD and the shed is from an old farm so thinking wood was probably locally sourced. What do you guys think it is?

Going to be moving soon and I was thinking about ways to organize my spices. Thought about buying a small parts organizer and using color-coded construction paper to make the drawers opaque.It'll get the job done, but I doubt it'll look pleasing to the eye. Other option is apothecary drawers like the pic, but smaller and on the counter. Been keeping an eye out at the thrift shop.Anyone have a clever way of organizing their spices/kitchen? Call a professional. If its soaked through to the pad/sub-floor you will NOT have the means to efficiently extract it. However much blotting/rinsing you do it will just wick back up.

I'm interested in making a device which will be contained inside a small glass dome and powered by an array of germanium diodes. The concept is to create something which just operates and continues to operate for as long as possible. What does it actually do? Anything, just so long as it does SOMETHING, for a very long time. Now germanium diodes aren't exactly a high power source of electricity as you know so whatever it is needs to have an extremely low power requirement. Any ideas? Even lighting an LED is unfeasible but what if you could trickle-charge a small capacitor and have that light an LED periodically? Again it doesn't matter how long that would take, only that it is functioning.
