>>3230258Drawing as in drawn with pencil on paper?I've been doodling in digital a lot lately
>>3229938Mostly asymmetry problems in eyes, nose, mouth, and flatness. Eyes look kind of over detailed and pasted on. All giving a derpy appearance.
>>3230295The vampire looks really nice and 3d, excellent forms.
>>3230307thanks for tips.

Any feedback?
>>3230447Ooh I like these>>3230571What the heck is going on>>3230511Harder brush dude, and is the defeated guy's armour made of aluminium? The perspective of the sword is contradictory to the rest of him.>>3230258I'm not feeling it with this thing I'm working on
>>3230575I'm not feeling it either. it's just a guy posing with his weapons in an empty void. What's the story behind it? How can you expect to have good shadows and reflected light on his outfit without any environment.Unless it's a character concept art piece, in which case you didn't do a good job by hiding half his armor behind the shield.
>>3230516Now that you mention it, they are. Thanks.>>3230575Aluminium? You mean the reflections on her (I though soft features and long hair would give it out) cuirass? I didn't really think about the materials, as it's not set in any particular universe—just a picture inspired by a description (something like "old, ragged warrior in dented armor") in some article about art on design.tutplus, but I wanted to give her some kind of light-looking armor to emphasize that it's not actually a sturdy male knight like her "parent."Perspective? Hard to point out, but it seems like the pose isn't read as intended because of the crotch, is it so?
not sure where i was going with this desumaybe i'll sketch some super hero shit since he already has the chin
Hardest thing i've attempted to shade in a while
>>3230611The sword shouldn't be able to penetrate armour like that, but to sell that a bit more, I'd maybe actually show how thick the metal is?I don't want to sound mean, but there is a lot that's not working right with this piece. I wouldn't use pure blacks, I'd raise the saturation on them shadows and push for some warmth on them if the highlights and bounce lights are colder. The gauntlet looks like it needs to be articulated more and not one solid lump of metal as it's being implied right now. I can't really tell what sort of material the guy's wearing, f it's made of metal or leather or whatever. The tears are a bit too obvious of a touch imo personally. You do have potential though, so keep going and do more direct studies at this stage.>>3230602I know what you mean. I'm trying to practise rendering out materials with this character I designed a while back. Perhaps I could put a background in, but I don't want to spend too much time on him.
>>3230657hellacool, his tooth and the part where his tail connects to the body look off
>>3230666Good points, Satan. And rest assured: despite your digits, you don't really sound mean. I have seen lots of mean people, and you're talking like a respectful fellow artist.
i know i should go out of my comfort zone more often but for now any crits before i run color?
>>3230693 Her face is a bit wide and her eyes are quite far apart, unless that's what you're intentionally doing. Ear is a lil high I think.
>>3230697thanks dude! really appreciated>>3230615theres some more i wanted to work on esp the hair and i used an ugly brush but here's some stuff. overall i think you really need to zoom out more often cause you've got all these lil tiny strokes that mess up the values across the face and the hair. use bigger brush sizes and mirror the image, too
Blatant furry here. Critique please.>Fun Fact: The robe was referenced from the MDE Utopia video.
>>3230766can't help much with the furry bit sorry, but the arm/tricep area that's showing should be a helluva lot longer. the head and neck also seem pretty huge but human standards. hope that helps
>>3230766Elbow needs to be bigger if it's foreshortened, it just looks like the character has a tiny arm.

>>3230771i apologize mr. sargent! i loved your exhibition at the met!
>>3230777why?
>>3230775you think im saying what i said to rustle you?im saying it to help you. post in the correct thread for a better response.
>>3230784Oh. My apologies.
I probably should have just posted it with a blank background, I definitely got lazy.
>>3230784>thinking there are good responses in /beg/That place is a shithole through and through
>>3230295>>3230569>>3230657>>3230575I don't think these people belong as beginners that's for sure. You know damn well they can clearly understand at least enough of the basics to rise above a person who just started. Does everybody in a drawing thread has to be some 30 year veteran?>>3230771
>>3230784>better response>/beg/I visited there without even posting for a few weeks and it was mostly dogshit. Even objectively bad beginner artwork in this thread will get better advice here than over there.
>>3230798never said >>3230569 needed to post there..as for>>3230657>>3230666dont be fooled by the shitty rendering. these are beg tier.
>>3230803yet all the advice given to beginners in this thread consists of the OP post from the BEG thread.
>>3230804Or you could critique my lion instead of being useless yourself by referring people to a less helpful thread that just refers people back to this one.
People in beg dont need crit. They need to turn off the computer and grind for a few months then perhaps they can think about posting.
>>3230804Ah it's cause that one person replied with "I want to die," so I just lumped it into my confusion>>3230812Also this is not me lol. Still even though I did defend your piece. I would suggest that you go back over it with some smaller brushes and more values past the head, (or however you plan on doing it.) It is just a little blurry and comes off as unfinished. I think the head looks good but it is no lion that's a Sabre-tooth Tiger
>>3230819Thanks. Now I understand. It does have saber teeth, although the body I based roughly on what I remembered of African lion anatomy. Just bulkier
>>3230822Yeah I mean given its a creature not alive on this earth I think that is forgivable. I also suggest making the 4th leg visible? not sure if you forgot or if it was with intent. Study how felines walk though, I find it most important when drawing its anatomy. They don't really use the two back legs simultaneously.
>>3230827I didn't add the back leg because I was lazy. I'll add it on the edit.
I really liked my initial idea for this, but not at all that happy with it at the moment. Anyone got some good tips for the water?
>>3230838Try making the dur bigger.Repaint the water to reflect more sky, should be quite dark, just looks like a field or sludge. If you want to keep some of that aqua colour, have it glowing subtly from the depths or just reflecting off the dur a bit.Last, try to do something to increase the sense of depth of space/distance. rn, the water also looks like a wall. Try playing with the little islands (make very tiny dim ones as you go further back) and some horizontal colour fields, waves and wavelets, etc whatever.. to get a sense of large distance going to the horizon
>>3230868Awesome, thanks for the feedback! Back to the drawing board!
I need to know how to be cleaner with my line art.
>>3230881I like how back to the drawing board means starting from scratch.. unless you're actually drawing.
>>3230890Finish the drawing?
>>3230804I may be fucking shit and I know I can improve, but I've been doing this for fucking 5 years, it feels a bit belittling that I'm getting told to go to the BEG thread again.
>>3230898Yes, because I can not construct a body from my mind and I have a poor visual library. I can do better if I use reference but I will leave it like that. I’m learning too much at the same time and that is a fun drawing. I’m studying vilppu
Okay I tried to apply the suggested changes but i'm worried i'm getting too close to over-rendered fur, like the old habits I was trying to break. I do think it looks better now though.
>>3230934In my opinion it looks over rendered, just the fur, also some edges are blurry. I don’t know if that is intentional. But I like it. Haha look for Aeron Blaise art it may help you.
>>3230944I do follow Aaron Blaise; although in terms of rendering I really prefer Therese Larsson; hers is stunning. If I were trying to passively steal knowledge of rendering from anyone right now it would be her. Although she goes REALLY into detail on the fur. I'm struggling to find a balance with detail lately.
>>3230950Oh I did know. I will look for her in google.
>>3230957I didn’t know! I mean
I was testing a couple brushes because I recently started getting obsessed with painterly styles instead of the digital look. And I don't think I'm particularly succeeding, but that's not why I'm here. I'm posting because I got a reminder that I fucking suck at necks, can somebody please tell/show me how to be less retarded? what am I doing so horribly wrong?
>>3230966Sorry i'm not helping, but I wanted to say that texturing is delicious
>>3230968Dude really? thank you! it's legit my second try at it, and only because my first was some generic sphere 2 hours ago. I've been avoiding texture for the longest time.
>>3230966Anon I like it. We have the same friking goal. It looks like you are getting there. Just clean your edges.
>>3230766>>3230768>>3230770Is this better? I'm afraid I made the brachioradialis too small.
>>3230780it's just too good.
Tried inking and color for the first time. I know my backgrounds suck.

doodled another cartoonier rock lion, came out looking like a lion king character a bit
>>3230771oh okay, thanks senpai, i'll head straight over to the beginner thread. my apologies for thinking i was worthy enough to post in your thread. i think i have a bit of that dunning kruger effect going on - thought i was a tad beyond beginneranyways, this is what i have so far.
>>3230764>>3231080thanks for the critiques my dudes>>3231117is where i'm at so far
>>3231117Not the anon who sent you to /beg/, but he has a point. You do have some dunning kruger if you think you're beyond beginner. Either that or you just bought a tablet 2 weeks ago and decided to draw one ugly son of a bitch, in that case you're golden. But keep practicing, and try to justify the majority of the choices you make, if you can't justify one then look that thing up.
>>3231080giv sad bf ;;
I don't know a lot about landscapes. I tried my best doing this. I hope my brushwork does not look mindless. If you think there is some issues that can be fixed, tell me anon.
>>3231171Maybe make your images proportions in.. hmmm.. I dunno landscape instead of portrait.
>>3231175So the canvas size make you feel uncomfortable? It shouldn’tIt may be the composition. I failed... I’m gonna review. Lol
>>3231131>Either that or you just bought a tablet 2 weeks ago and decided to draw one ugly son of a bitchare you referring to >>3230615 or >>3231117if you're referring to >>3230615 fair enough, that shit was uglyif you're referring to >>3231117 could you be more specific as to what makes it an ugly son of a bitch?

I've been messing with DIY textures and general scanning tricks. It can look pretty insteresting...
