Wanderlust Journaling Prompt – My Bravest Moment

Posted in art journalling, Uncategorized, Wanderlust 2016 with tags , , , , , on February 25, 2016 by craftytrog

The latest journaling prompt on the Wanderlust class is ‘My Bravest Moment’. I think that definitely has to be when I agreed to demonstrate for my favourite stamp company PaperArtsy last April, at the Alexandra Palace stamp show in London. I did it again in September, and it wasn’t nearly as scary! I also ran my first art journaling class at That’s Crafty last year in May, another major step.

Here’s my art journal page for the prompt. I used PaperArtsy Fresco Paint, Everything Art stamps by Kasia for PaperArtsy, and PaperArtsy stencils by Darcy and Lin Brown. The photos were taken by Helen I think. I definitely pinched them from a PATwit friend’s blog!

I loved the techniques Tim used on his latest tag, so I used them to make this birthday card for my son Gordon. You can see Tim’s February Tag inspiration HERE.

Gordon is off to Marakesh today, so he got his card a few days early, together with some Tabla drums that we bought in India.

Happy Friday!

PaperArtsy – Sara Naumann Samples Part Two

Posted in Cards, PaperArtsy, Uncategorized with tags , , , , on February 16, 2016 by craftytrog

Yesterday, I posted details of my samples for the new PaperArtsy Sara Naumann stamp set ESN19 and stencil PS026. Today I’m sharing how I made my samples for PaperArtsy stamp set ESN20 which has a beautiful garden theme, together with matching stencil PS027. Details of the launch & lots of beautiful artwork by Sara and my fellow DT members can be found on the launch post HERE.

ESN20

PS027

Here’s my first sample…

Deep in their roots

I applied a base of London Night Fresco Finish Paint to this card, then a layer of PaperArtsy Crackle Glaze. Over this I painted Nougat Fresco, then waited for the magic to happen. Next, I used Tinned Peas and a little Space Cadet to stencil the leaves, then stamped the dots and words with black archival ink.

I glued some teabag papers to white card, then stamped and clear embossed two leaves and the sentiment. These were then cut out and glued in place on the card.

Here’s my second sample…

thank you kindly

This is a simpler card. Again, I glued teabag papers to white card, part of which I used as a base, and I stamped the leaves and sentiment onto the remaining piece. The leaves were mounted onto card painted with Space Cadet and Brown Shed Fresco Paint, then black card and gold mirror card. I added some gold leaf brads and the stamped sentiment to finish.

PaperArtsy – Sara Naumann Samples Part One

Posted in Cards, PaperArtsy, Uncategorized with tags , , , , on February 15, 2016 by craftytrog

A couple of weeks ago, PaperArtsy launched lots of fabulous new stamps, stencils & paint colours. I made some samples with the new Sara Naumann stamps and stencils, and I thought I’d explain how they were made. Details of the launch & lots of beautiful artwork by Sara and my fellow DT members can be found on the launch post HERE.

In this post, I will share details of my samples for stamps ESN19, a set with a vintage sea travel theme, and matching stencil PS026.

ESN19

PS026

Here is my first sample…

discover new lands

On this card, I used a brayer to apply a base of Nougat and London Night Fresco Finish Paint, then I added some drips of watered down Space Cadet Fresco. I masked off the upper part of the card, and applied Grunge Paste through the dotty part of the PS026 stencil. Keeping the mask in place, I applied some White Fire Treasure Gold, then flicked some watery Space Cadet over the stencilling.

I stamped the ship and sentiment with black archival ink, then used a black pen to continue the sea, then painted the ship with a little watered down Brown Shed Fresco.

Here’s my second sample…

Bon Vogage

The base of this card was brayered with Nougat and Space Cadet Fresco. I dipped the edge of a ruler into Brown Shed Fresco to make some vertical lines, then stencilled the reeds from PS026 with Tinned Peas Fresco. I outlined these with a black pen. I stamped the dots from ESN19, then used matte medium to adhere some torn teabag papers on the left side and bottom right.

I glued some teabag papers onto white card, then stamped & clear embossed the ship and four clocks. I cut out all the images, and added some stamped dots and words to the ship focal image & mounted it onto black card. I added crackle accents and brads to the clocks, then glued them in place around the focal image. I finished off with a stamped sentiment.

Tomorrow I’ll be back with details of my samples for ESN20.

Wanderlust Book Prompt 3 – Lots of Writing

Posted in art journalling, Uncategorized, Wanderlust 2016 with tags , , , on February 14, 2016 by craftytrog

I’m not really one for writing lots in my journals, but I didn’t find this too taxing once I got going! Lots on my mind I guess, after our wonderful holiday.

Wanderlust book prompt 3e

I’ve used coloured Sharpies, black Pitt Pen, and some black Bombay Ink, together with a few PaperArtsy stamps.

My darling hubby surprised me with two beautiful sarongs this morning, that he secretly bought on Lighthouse Beach, Trivandrum, in India. 🙂

Happy Valentine’s Day,
