The new Colour Challenge on Gingersnap’s Creations is to use only two colours. I chose to use my favourites, blue & green. I used forest moss & broken china distress inks, & a medley of different stamps. The card is for my friend Dave, whose birthday is this weekend. He keeps tropical fish & reptiles, amongst other things. I added some glossy accent ‘bubbles’, & also added some to the eyes of all the sea creatures.
My son’s a bit of a rock star & all round musician. He plays drums, guitar, keyboard & is great with the technical recording stuff too. In fact, he is studying at the Studio of Sound Recording in London, & doing really well there. Can you tell I’m a proud Mum?!
He left his teens & turned 20 on tuesday, & here’s the card I made for him. I used some fabulous PaperArtsy stamps, that were just perfect!
My blog’s been very quiet for the last few days, as I’ve been in stinky cold & cough land. Still there, but watching the fabulous Tim Holtz on QVC yesterday, inspired me to make these earrings for Linda’s Grungy Monday Challenge.
I used Tim’s patina technique with snowcap, stream & lettuce alcohol inks, on the brass stampings, then coloured the pearls with stream AI.
I just found out that I was picked as a Ginger Gem for my altered tin on Gingersnap’s glorious greens, which has cheered me up immensely!
I’ll be back tomorrow with my son’s birthday card.

I’ve combined another two challenges with this card. One is The Stampsmith Challenge, the theme of which is Love & Lace. The other is The Stamp Man Challenge, which is Texture.
The romantic image is by The Stampsmith, & I stamped it onto calico fabric, using Archival coffee ink. I inked the edges of a square cream card base with victorian velvet & vintage photo distress inks. I embossed a piece of glassine paper with a texture fade, then distressed the edges & inked with victorian velvet. I added a layer of lace & a couple of strips of lace on the left side of my image, & finally some wooden buttons, 2 of which were coloured with paint dabber.
My colours were inspired by some of Lynne’s lovely artwork this week, where she used a similar combination.
