Audrey

Posted in Stampsmith Challenge, Tags on January 29, 2012 by craftytrog

I love this Stampsmith image of Audrey, & it’s perfect for a tag, which is the latest theme on The Stampsmith Challenge.

I used Glimmer Mists for my background, then stamped the Tim Holtz stars & sunburst images from the Bitty Grunge plate in coffee archival ink. I added the text & signature from The Stampsmith Audrey plate in jet black.

I stamped Audrey onto tissue & also on glossy card. I glued the tissue image on the left, using studio matt medium, then cut out the other image & glued it to the tag. I added some sari ribbon to finish.

I’m also entering this tag for the Craft Barn colour wheel challenge which finishes today. Hope I’m in time!

Altered Tin

Posted in Altered Art, Gingersnap Creations, Stampotique Designers Challenge, UK Stampers on January 26, 2012 by craftytrog

The latest Stampotique challenge is to alter something, & the Gingersnap Colour challenge is Green, so here’s a little Altoid Mint tin that I’ve altered. I was inspired by Rachel’s artwork. Check out her YouTube channel, she has some fabulous tutorials!

I used Lumiere paints in pearlescent emerald, halo blue gold & pearl turquoise. The shells & frame on the lid & the fish inside, are made with moulds, then seated in texture paste, before being painted. I used Stampotique’s Octopet as my main image  on the inside of the lid. I added highlights with Antique Gold Goldfinger rub on paste.

This was a fun project I’ve made for a swap! Thanks for looking! xox

Grungy Monday 34

Posted in Cards, Grungy Monday, Sunday Stampers on January 23, 2012 by craftytrog

This week over on Grungy Monday, Linda has challenged us to use Tim’s Crackle Resist technique. Here’s Tim’s Tutorial.

On my list of things to do this week, is my dad’s birthday card, as he & my mum are off down under to Oz next week, & his birthday is when they are in transit. So here’s the card I made him. I used Wendy Vecchi stamps, Grunge Blocks, & crackle paint & distress ink in weathered wood & vintage photo.

Hels’ Sunday Stamper challenge is Eyes, so I’m entering my card for that too.

This week on Grungy Monday, Linda challenged us to use a fab resist technique with alcohol inks & archival ink. Here’s Tim’s tutorial.

I used watermelon, raspberry & sunset orange alcohol inks, and some of Tim’s mini stamps, that I bought at the show this week.

A Show Piece

Posted in Altered Art on January 20, 2012 by craftytrog

I traipsed along to The Stitch & Creative Crafts Show at Sandown Park yesterday, & had a lovely day’s shopping! I even managed a class with the lovely Ali of Ali Crafts. We decorated an Ikea mirror, using PaperArtsy Fresco paints, stencils, & Tim Holtz stamps. Here’s my mirror. It works perfectly for this week’s Simon Says Challenge, which is Anything but a card.

And here’s my purchases for the nosey ones amongst you! ;o)
