Compendium of Curiosities Challenge 19 – Extreme Masking

Posted in Compendium Of Curiosities Challenge, Tags on October 31, 2010 by craftytrog

We’ve been away in Dorset for a few days, and although we had a wonderful time, walking on the beach, & enjoying fabulous food in The Loch Fyne fish restaurant & hotel at Canford Cliffs, it was great to return home to my crafty ‘lair’, as my husband calls this!

Consequently, I’m a little late in joining in with Linda’s challenge this week, but it was another fabulous technique from Tim’s book (page 61), & here’s the tag I made.

Halloween – NOT FOR ME!

Posted in Uncategorized on October 31, 2010 by craftytrog

It may seem like a bit of harmless fun to most people, but I think that telling our children it’s ok to knock on people’s doors & demand treats isn’t appropriate behaviour. A lot of elderly or vulnerable people are intimidated by the trick or treaters that knock on their doors. They’re not all little children dressed as fairies etc, & accompanied by parents.

I’m a Christian, and this is why I don’t celebrate this day. I certainly don’t wish to celebrate a day that is celebrated by satanists.

Sunday Stamper – Week 126 – Green Onions

I love green, so I couldn’t pass on Hels’ latest challenge! Also, I have some new Eco Friendly paints I was dying to try out. So I created my background by brayering pistachio, pumpkin, & grape paint onto some card, a technique I learned from my friend Hazel, stamped some images from the new PaperArtsy Hotpick plates, a bit of matting & layering, some co-ordinating flowers, & I was done.

Air Mail

I received some stamps from Jennie at the Artistic Stamper today, my prize for coming second in the UK Stamper Banner Competition. One of the sets was the Air Mail Bird Collage Elements, so I decided to try them out on a tag. I used dusty concord & crushed olive distress inks, stamped the script with the dusty concord, then stamped the other elements in black & clear embossed them. I roughed up the edges of the tag, & added some vintage photo to them. Something else was needed, so I stamped more of the script with the vintage photo, & finally added some sari ribbon. With the layers of stamping, this qualifies for The Artistic Stamper CT Blog Challenge this month. Nearly forgot – I spritzed with some water & gold perfect pearls too, to create the little speckles on the background.

Art Journey Challenge – Tape

I couldn’t resist this month’s Art Journey challenge, after seeing a fabulous background technique using TH tissue tape, on Roni’s blog. So I used the technique to create a background, inspired by the wonderful autumn colours around at the moment. Then I added some images by Art Journey to finish my card.

Compendium Of Curiosities Challenge 18 – Dabber Resist

We’re halfway through the techniques in Tim’s book, & this week Linda has challenged us to use the Dabber Resist technique on page 37. I used pearl dabber for my resist, and chipped sapphire & crushed olive DIs. All stamps are by Tim.

Wedding Congrats

Posted in Cards, Lots to do on October 16, 2010 by craftytrog

My cousin Matt is marrying Bel today, on the island of Manola in Fiji! Wish I could be there with them! Here’s the card that I sent. I used Caribbean Sea Kaleidacolor ink for the masked background. I borrowed the wedding stamp from my friend Lucy, no idea who it’s by, but I liked it’s modern feel. I added a K & Co Life’s Journey heart button to one of the hearts, & finished with the sentiment from an Art Journey plate.

I think this card is fairly plain & simple, so I’m entering it for this week’s Lots To Do Challenge
