Andy Skinner Class

Posted in workshops on June 29, 2012 by craftytrog

I attended a fantastic class, run by Andy Skinner, at The Craft Barn today. We made a very distressed, Asian-themed tea caddy, using Americana paints, crackle & texture paste. It was lovely to catch up with good friends Mickie, Leandra & Lynne too, & nice to meet Gio, who came all the way from Rome.

Here’s my tea caddy.

Distressed with the Olympics

Posted in Cards, Simon Says Stamp & Show on June 25, 2012 by craftytrog

…and they haven’t even started yet! Can you tell I’m not a sports fan?! Lol!

Simon Says Stamp have asked us to show Depth of Distress. Well, I’m distressed at all the football on the telly lately, & now there’s Wimbledon, next the Olympics… must get myself a few good DVDs to watch!

My little friend Sean will be 8 tomorrow, & he’s having an Olympics themed party, so I’ve made him an Olympics themed birthday card. I’ve used plenty of Distress inks to fit in with the Simon Says Stamp Challenge, & all the stamps are by The Artistic Stamper. There are a few splodges of paint where there shouldn’t be, so that makes it even more distressed! Lol! Wishing I’d stamped those Olympic rings over the sentiment now too! But hey ho, too late now!

Love Wish Dream

Posted in Compendium Of Curiosities Challenge, Simon Says Stamp & Show on June 19, 2012 by craftytrog

I’m finally getting back to challenges & blogging, after a month of birthdays & holidays. I thought I’d start with my two favourite challenges, Compendium of Curiosities 2, & Simon says Stamp & Show some ‘Brown’.

CCC2, challenge no. 10 is Tim’s Tissue Wrap Flower technique, which is found on page 37 of his book. the challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique, who are offering a $25 prize to the winner.

I used weathered wood crackle paint on my die cut base, inked it with vintage photo, then stamped some Tim flourishes with coffee archival ink.

I inked my tissue wrap flower with a little worn lipstick distress ink, & spritzed it with red perfect pearl mist. I added a silver bead to the centre.

Tim’s butterfly was inked with broken china, worn lipstick & vintage photo distress ink, then stamped on a book page and cut out. i added part of an old necklace for it’s body.

The die cut flourish was inked with vintage photo distress stain. I inked the journaling ticket with weathered wood ink, then inked through some sequin waste with vintage photo.

I popped on some eyelets, added some twine, glued everything in place, & I was done.

A Grungy Workshop & Dream Holiday

Posted in workshops on June 13, 2012 by craftytrog

I’ve just returned from a wonderful week of sun, sea & cocktails in Corfu, & I thought I would share a grungy little hanging that I made the day before I flew off for a relaxing week with my daughter Beth. I attended another fabulously inky workshop with lovely Linda Elbourne, at The Craft Barn, on Sunday 3rd June. As usual, my good friend Gabby was there, along with some of her delicious cupcakes. She always brings scrumptious home-baked goodies to workshops, to tempt us from our diets!

So, here’s the little hanging that I made…

and here’s a holiday snap of me & my beautiful daughter Beth…
