ArtsyCraft with Tim!

Posted in Altered Art, ArtsyCraft on February 26, 2011 by craftytrog

It still doesn’t seem real! But I actually did a workshop with Tim Holtz!!! He’s amazing, such a lovely bloke! I kept pestering him for signatures & photos! Well, one photo, of me & him!

Here’s Tim’s signature on my apron. I stamped the pocket the day before I went, using black Studio paint. It was already messy, but I added a few spritzes of re-inkers!

I met up with lots of lovely forum & blog friends, including Sid & Kay, from UK Stampers

and Pat & Jo from the Rebel Stampers

I met so many others, Sioux, Sue, Laura, too many to mention! I wish I’d got my camera out more!

And finally, here are the projects! The configuration box from Tim’s class, is still a work in progress, you can see some of the wonderful things that we got given in the calico bags, in the foreground. And, on the right, is our beautiful project from Lin & Leandra’s class. They always come up with something wonderful for us to make, using awesome new techniques!

A Sexy Little Number!

Posted in Cards, Compendium Of Curiosities Challenge, Sunday Stampers on February 23, 2011 by craftytrog

Here’s another little card I made with my bead gel masterboard. The numbers are coloured with watermelon alcohol ink, which is this week’s Compendium of Curiosities technique challenge, set by Linda. The phrase is stamped with barn door distress ink, & is from a Clear Art stamp set. I’m also entering my card for Hels’ Sunday Stampers challenge, as her theme this week is numbers.

Altered Experience

It’s my son Gordon’s 19th birthday today & here’s the card I made for him. He’s definitely an individual, with his orange mohawk, and I’m very proud of him. He’s also an awesome drummer. Happy birthday Gordon! xxxxx

And here’s the fantastic card his sister Beth painted for him, lots of amazing texture! She’s currently studying GCSE art, and her chosen artist for some of her coursework is Gerhard Richter. She based her card on one of his paintings.

Mixed Media Masterboard

Posted in Cards, Mixed Media on February 20, 2011 by craftytrog

I was inspired by Rachel Jackson’s article in Craft Stamper this month, to make a couple of masterboards using re-inkers, gesso and glass bead gel.

I used peeled paint, tumbled glass & vintage photo on one, and worn lipstick, dried marigold, rusty hinge & vintage photo on the other. To highlight the bead gel, I used old silver Inka Gold.

This morning, I used a piece of masterboard to create this small square card. The mosaic image is by Stampers Anon, & the quote is Paperartsy.
