Sunday Stampers – Happy Heart

Posted in Canvases, Sunday Stampers on September 30, 2012 by craftytrog

Hels has asked us to do something that makes our heart happy today. So I’ve been playing with Fresco Finish paint on a little canvas again.

I used Limelight, Mermaid, Inky Pool, Nougat, & London Bus for a nice contrast. There’s also some little Black Dress to bed those lovely TH Classics 5 plate images onto the background.

The images were coloured with Antique Linen DI, with some watered down London Bus painted on the lips.

I used a variety of stencils on the background, & dripped some watered down Inky Pool & Limelight from the top too.

It made my heart very happy, messing around with these fabulous paints! 🙂

I’ve been having a little play with a couple of the many new Tim stamp sets, that I bought recently! ;o) I’ve used Classics 1 & Mini Blueprints to make my postcard for the Artful Times Challenge. This challenge is sponsored by Oyster Stamps.

The Compendium of Curiosities 2 Challenge 23 is to use Distress Markers, as per Tim’s intructions on page 50 of his book, so I’ve used them to colour my images. Linda has a wonderful selection of Tim goodies as this week’s prize, so what are you waiting for?!

The Distress pens I used on my postcard were peeled paint, crushed olive, tumbled glass & broken china.

Pretty As A Picture

Posted in Canvases, Simon Says Stamp & Show, Sunday Stampers on September 26, 2012 by craftytrog

I was fortunate to see the talented Lin Brown demonstrating on the PaperArtsy stand, at The Alexandra Palace last Saturday. She made some beautiful canvases, using Fresco Finish paint, PaperArtsy stamps, Atemio embellishments & Crafter’s Workshop stencils.

I created this canvas using Lin’s techniques, & the same products.

I’m entering it for the following challenges…

Sunday Stampers – Behind The Mask ( I used a mask on the background)

Simon Says Stamp – For The Love Of Sparkle (I added shine with some Inka Gold, on the frame, branch & bird, & on the canvas edge)

Not necessarily in that order!

Firstly, The Compendium of Curiosities 2 challenge this week, is Tim’s riveted patchwork technique, which is found on page 57 of his book. The challenge is sponsored by Funkie Junkie, who are offering a $25 prize.

Here’s my tag for the challenge…

And, here is a sample of what I’ve managed to make with my new Gelli Plate. Fun…fun…fun! 🙂

If The Young Only Knew…

Posted in Cards, Stampotique Designers Challenge on September 16, 2012 by craftytrog

Mustard, orange & navy is the colour challenge from the Stampotique designers this week. So, I chose my colours, Butterscotch Paint Dabber, Smidge of Blue Studio Paint, & Squeezed Orange Dylusion Spray, &, using techniques that I learnt from Dina Wakeley, I created my background.

I used stamps by Stampotique (Just Relaxin’- one of my faves) & Dylusions (love that phrase!), & a Dylusion stencil. I stamped with midnight blue Stazon.

Result…one very enjoyable, messy Sunday morning! 🙂

Thanks for looking, off to wash my mitts!

Blended Stains

Posted in Cards, Compendium Of Curiosities Challenge on September 15, 2012 by craftytrog

This week on the Compendium of Curiosities 2 Challenge, Linda has asked us to use Tim’s Blended Stains technique, which is on page 45 of his book.

The challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp this week, & they are offering a generous $25 voucher to one lucky entrant.

I used broken china, chipped sapphire, dusty concord & the new brushed pewter distress stains on my card. All the stamps are by Wendy Vecchi.
