Yay! It’s the first week of Linda’s Grungy Monday Challenge! What a fab challenge to start with too. You have to use Tim’s 2008 christmas tag no. 10 as your inspiration. I used the same techniques as Tim to create my tag, but changed the elements.
I’m entering my tag for the Simon Says Stamp & Show a Hat challenge too, as my bird is wearing a crown.
We are starting on Tim’s 2008 tags over on Kathy’s blog this week, & here is my version of day one’s tag, together with a matching card. A bit of masking & distressing this week.
Simon Says Stamp & Show a Word this week, so here’s another piece I made, using distress stains & grunge letters.
I had a lovely day of crafting with my friend Hazel yesterday. I received my full set of distress stains in the post the day before, so I took these along to have a play. The colours are gorgeous! As The Sunday Stamper challenge is to use die cuts this week, I decided to use the Sissix Alteration Ornamental die for my base.
The bases were cut from plain cardboard, so I first applied a basecoat of gesso. Then I used the Stains to colour them. I stamped a background with black stazon, then swiped a thin layer of gesso over to lighten it. I used the stains to stamp swirls on two of my pieces, before adding phrases to them. This gave a lovely watercolour effect.
The ruler background by Lost Coast Designs, is my favourite new background stamp. The other stamps are from PaperArtsy Hotpick plates & Tim Holtz Stampers Anon.

it’s week twelve of Kathy’s challenge, & here’s my version of Tim’s 2007 tag 12, plus my matching card. I cheated & used images from Tim’s seasonal paper stack, as I didn’t have the collage stamp he used.

Karen has picked a great theme for us on The Stampsmith Challenge this week, one of my favourite colour combinations, blue & brown. I made a background using the cracked paint technique. I used hazlenut dabber for the undercoat, & aqua dabber for the top. The strip across the middle was made with aqua alcohol ink, & I think a little coffee archival ink got in there too! Lol! Marilyn was stamped in coffee archival, so that’s probably where it came from.
The hard drive on my laptop has failed, so I’m using one of the kid’s little old lappys to blog this, off to the puter hospital today I think! 😦
