Sunday Stampers 139 – Sentimental Journey

Posted in Cards, Sunday Stampers on January 30, 2011 by craftytrog

Graham, my OH, asked me for a get well card for his dad, who has just had an operation. Here’s what I came up with, and with its sentiment, it fits in perfectly with Hels’ challenge this week.

I made a background with my autumn leaves kaleidacolor ink pad, by smooshing it along the edge of my craft mat, spritzing it, then laying a piece of white card in it. I then flicked water on it, & dried it straight away with my heat gun. The stamped images are by Tim Holtz, & the sentiment is Stamp Attack.

Tim’s December Tags – 2007 – Tag 5

Here’s my version of Tim’s 2007 tag 5, plus my co-ordinating card. This used a fabulous alcohol technique, where you dripped blending solution on your background, then dried it with a heat tool to stop it spreading, so creating a snowy look. The ribbon & beads were also alcohol inked. The colours I used were stream, stonewashed & denim. Please zoom over to Kathy’s blog, to see her lovely tag, and to take part in the challenge.

Stampotique Designers Challenge 23 – Orange and Turquoise

Posted in Cards, Stampotique Designers Challenge on January 28, 2011 by craftytrog

The Stampotique Designers have chosen one of my favourite colour combinations for their latest challenge! My first thoughts were to search through my box of scraps, as I was sure I had some orange alcohol inked backgrounds. Then I found a piece of fabric paper, that I made at my friend Penny’s house last year. The piece of paper that I stamped Peggy on, was the copier paper that I’d laid underneath the inky fabric paper, as it dried. I inked the torn edges with spiced marmalade distress ink, and also used it to add colour to the image. I mounted my layers on an orange card blank, & inked the edges of this with Nick Bantock cerulean azure. Finally, I added some turquoise prima flowers, & an inked adage ticket. The word Bliss just sums up my feelings when I’m crafting, perfectly!

Tim’s December Tags from start to finish – 2007 Tag 4

Posted in Cards, Tags, Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas on January 27, 2011 by craftytrog

Here’s my version of Tim’s 2007 tag 4, & co-ordinating card, finally! It was supposed to be layered custom stamping, but I didn’t have the felt required, so I used my Whispers brush markers to ink the stamp. Also, I didn’t have the collage stamp Tim used, so I used his Friends stamp. I think it works rather well for a christmas stamp! I covered up the friend definition with the Wish adage ticket, used a metal number 2 on the tag, & a grunge one on the card. A glittery pompom adorns the little boys hat, on the tag, and I added Dovecraft christmas bottle tops, & bells. There’s also a bit of tissue tape on each of them.

I forgot to do the layering unfortunately! I knew I should have checked Tim’s instructions again! Lol!

Compendium of Curiosities 29 – Weathered Wood Grunge

Weathered wood grunge is the latest challenge from Linda, and the technique is found on page 50 of Tim’s book.

I diecut one of the styled labels & applied the technique to it. I also used a little grunge bookplate, & placed a little quote behind it.

I used spiced marmalade distress ink on my tag, edged it with walnut stain, and stamped with vintage photo ink.

The little heart is made with friendly plastic.

An Inky Day

Posted in Cards on January 25, 2011 by craftytrog

I had a lovely inky day at my friend Lucy’s yesterday, making backgrounds with Nick Bantock inks, and playing with my Art Journey stamps. I managed to make four cards. The final card was made with a lovely vintage Typewriter set from Darcies, that I borrowed from Lucy.
