I'm freaking out, /x/.I'm seeing a pattern in fiction, many patterns, actually, but here's the one that's freaking me out.I think fiction is intentionally being written to shape consciousness and affect reality, and it's workng.Hunger GamesDivergentThe GiverSuddenly, we get this caricature bad guy as a President (you know we don't really decide, right?)What's ready to come out the same year? The Handmaid's Tale. A horrible dystopia where women are silenced and oppressed. I think we are being propelled toward revolution and civil war, and I'm not talking /pol/ style conspiracy, I'm talking magic.
>>20009235>I'm not talking /pol/ style conspiracy, I'm talking magic.Sounds way /pol/ to me.
>>20009243Because your kungfu is weak. It operates in the same manner as sigils/memetics— An idea is implanted in the subconscious, and it is gradually made manifest through the mindlessness of the dumb animals that aren't able to protect themselves from it. Think They Live type shit.
do you mean to tell me that through the use of alliteration, fiction, metaphors, and storytelling we can create timeless relatable art pieces that speak to human truths?>local autist learns how to consume art for the first time
>>20009250Durr durrThinks films are pushing a certain agenda, conclusion: MUST BE MAGIC!!!!
>>20009243Does it? I realize I began by referring to politics, but I'm seeing it on so many levels: Alan Moore's Promethea, The Unwritten, even the Sandman: all working to create magic that shapes our consciousness and therefore our world, and cuing us in.I don't think it's all evil, or for nefarious purposes. I think a lot of authors don't realize the power they have (though some do).Steiner education is big on using stories to shape a child's consciousness: this is just on a grander scale.
>>20009251No, I'm saying the opposite is also true. With the amount of story consumption that we are doing at this point, it's true on a huge scale.
>>20009235no, it's more that atwood is smart. she sees that this is a possible reality and wrote the book to warn us. if anything she's saying "dont impeach trump" because if Pence is president, I would bet my entire month's salary that this shit would happen. Look at his record. There would be a false flag terrorist attack within 6 months which Pence would use to justify said measures. Watch..
>>20009278Then where the fuck are my super powers, bitch?
>>20009279Dude...Harry PotterLord of the RingsetcetcWe are being conditioned to believe in and want revolution, and then being given a cartoon villain to revolt against.
>>20009287You probably need to purify yourself and seek some enlightenment, asshole.
>>20009288yeah, kinda.Can't really disagree with that. :/
>>20009251>>20009278Art become lifeLife come art.Repeat...
>>20009288>Harry Potter>Lord of the Rings>etc>etc>We are being conditioned to believe in and want revolution,Harry Potter and LoTR are considered revolutionary by you? What a loon.
>>20009293No, what I need are eye lasers. They make every holiday more fun. Fact. No more wasted ham on yule
>>20009298Yes, and there is a great deal of beauty in this.
>>20009299You don't see how these are stories about revolution against a corrupt regime?
We need to counteract this by making our own fiction that gives us a better future
>>20009307>You don't see how these are stories about revolution against a corrupt regime?Have you ever read LoTR??? Even the god-awful films are about kingdoms fighting each other, there's no god-damn revolution going on. Fuck, you think the elves are going to go on strike? Or the dwarves demand democracy??
>>20009319They are fighting together to destroy Sauron, you imbecile.Yes, I have read all, and the Silmarillion, long before the movies.
>>20009319The dwarves had a good thing going until that King got the jitters for gold and gems and became an insane hoarder.
>>20009332>I have read all, and the Silmarillion, long before the movies. Before they were cool
>>20009316>weYOU.ME.Write about what you want the world to be. Write about what you hope the world will be.Again, I think Moore's writing is great in this realm.
>>20009319Saruman and his orcs fought to break the oppression of the orcs. The hobbits struggled to end the longstanding insidious hold of the one ring. I mean, did you read the books?
>>20009335In the early 90s.So whatever about your "cool" comment.
>>20009346now you're being silly
>>20009332the world creation is so deep. its a very beautiful story
>>20009235>I'm talking magic.Fucking what?I think it feeds both ways. There have been murmurs of civil war for a while. The entertainment industry often reflects the zeitgeist that surrounds it.Check out how noisy the whole "grrl powah" thing is now, and how often the protagonists of these "Teenagers bring down evil government" crapfests are female. Because feminism? I guess? Anyway, it's not magic, it's just psychology and shit. Also, I don't know if this has to do with anything but when I first saw stuff about "The Handmaid's Tale" I thought it would be about witchcraft. I guess I'm glad to have found out it's not before I actually started watching and became horribly disappointed and bored. If you're gonna be wearing that Puritan shit, put in some goddamn witchery.
On one hand media can and is definitely used to push agendas. On the other hand, legitimate artists have ways of "channeling" the things they see happening in the world and often times can be predictive.Art is generally nothing more than a reflection of what we know, see, and experience. Every story has roots in the real world.Lately many people have been growing restless. Our world is not without it's hardships; far from it. We are being ruled by an elite group of rich fucks and people are starting to realize how fucked up our society is. Of course that's going to be reflected in our art. People have wanted revolution for a very long time.
Any good occultist has figured it out by now. Art is just a means of transferring your will or desire into the hive mind of humanity. You can do this many different ways. Sigils, symbols, rituals, ceremonies. Of course thats entry level shit. When you start hiding your will and desire behind works of art, linguistics, meme's then you are rolling with the big boys.“Magick is the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with will.” ― Aleister Crowley, Magick in Theory and PracticeI believe the secular way of saying this is psychology. I believe the capitalist way of saying this is marketing
>>20011020Oh and its very important that a lot of people view the art, or meme's, or symbol. The more the better. Then it leaks into their subconscious. Then it leaks into real life. They use the tv, or books, or movies.Anyone can use the internet now. Hide your idea behind a meme, brute force it across the internet. Warp people into thinking a particular way
>>20009235No matter what, I am sure that the world is just spiraling into war, the muslims in Europe, countries rejecting refugees from EU and therefore getting hate, Brexit, Kim chong un, and much more.
>>20009235I agree with you. They are using tv shows/movies as a sigil/focus point to gather the energy of the viewers to manifest their desired reality.
