Very interesting, it's the first known interstellar object to pass through the Solar System. I like the name they chose. The name comesfrom Hawaiian ʻou.mua.mua, meaning "scout",(from ʻou, meaning "reach out for",and mua, reduplicated for emphasis, meaning "first, in advance of") and reflects the way this object is like a scout or messenger sent from the distant past to reach out to us.

its just a probe. not a standard probe as you would think in the sense of a space probe its meant to detect intelligent life. the odd shape could make it easily confused for a space craft

the down side is this determines if humanity as a species is wiped out or enslaved or contracted as a supplementary military force aka mercenaries.

there is no need for trade partners in this corner of the galaxy. water is every where . as are many elements. some places got nice stuff but nobody was there. typical. everything just for the taking
>>
>>19994323
It's past perihelion, it's too late now. The xenos used the sun for course correction/gravity assist. Or it was just a derelict. We should've sent a probe.

We detected it way too late to get a probe ready. Luckily it wasn't on a crash course or we'd all be dead now.

But it is really weird. The shape, surface features, trajectory, everything just was very strange. I think it's just a weird rock but I can see why people are curious and speculating about it. I'd like to see some sort of plot as to where it might have come from and where it's headed next.

Tupac was a convicted rapist, a known racist, a proud homophobe, a womaniser and a woman beater.

He refused to contribute in anyway to the upbringing of his multiple children while simultaneously criticising other absent fathers in his music, so he was a hypocrite too.

His actions directly lead to a six year old boy being shot dead.

His hit song Changes was the first step towards commercialising and selling out hip hop culture.

He was a shit rapper too. Overrated because he died early.

The rotation of said object by the force created by the mass of the object could create enough electromagnetic energy in the center generating enough electricity.

This is no funny shit bro, Simple, have you seen Teslas designs basically there is one that generates energy of two magnets swirling around themselves. Now get this ship and imagine the size of sheer energy it has been generating, question is for what.

Eight billion years ago, two planets collided and a small slither of shattered mantle was ejected with enough force to escape the parent star. It has been wondering around the galaxy ever since. If it had stayed in its parent system, collisions would have robbed it of its unusual shape, a shape never seen in our own system.

It will continue wandering the galaxy, maybe never again approaching as close to a star until Andromeda collides with the galaxy and it is ejected into inter-galactic space to meet whatever death the Universe has in store.

It's not /x/, but I'm sure it's still got an interesting story to tell. In the greater scheme of things, it's just a rock that flew by a soon-to-be-dead civilization.

it was about 60x the distance of the earth to the moon away from us, so not exactly close, BUT I don't know how advanced alien camera tech would be. Assuming they use cameras. Might've been far away so we wouldn't suspect anything. Maybe they thought if they gave us a closer buzz we'd immediately realize it was aliens?

It's weird though. It's 800X100X100 ish meters, so it's pretty fucking big. They could've just sent a smaller probe if they were already in system or nearby. Maybe it's a derelict of some sort? If it is a probe I'd guess there's a larger ship somewhere near by that sent it.

OR maybe it's just a weird rock. Realistically we probably won't ever know unless the xenos send undeniable proof.
>>
>>19998953
To be fair space is pretty fucking big, maybe they wanted it big so that they could fit as much on it as possible with no space concerns. Derelict would be cool, be also shit because we may have missed a one time chance at examining the insides of an alien spaceship.

Leaning towards just a weird rock. Like a small piece of mantle from an exploding planet which hit space and solidified very quickly while being propelled away.

Rule of thumb is that truth is stranger than fiction, so it wouldn't make sense to say something is untrue simply because it contains the slightest bit of strangeness.

It tells that you want your reality to be boring and unchanging, contained with everything on earth and nothing outside, like a dome.

>Absolutely. it matches all physical descriptions of what a ship would require.
How do you even delude yourself with this shit? If we knew the Physics to create intergalactic space craft, we would therefore be able to create such a thing. What physical descriptions do you even go by? L Ron Hubbard?

I know that if I were to create a space ship I wouldn't make it a long turd shape but probably a pyramid, maybe more like pic related, it's after all the strongest possible structure.

A long cyllinder is most efficient for a generation ship, the only proposed space ship that is feasible under our current technology without a radical new propulsion, energy, or suspended animation technology. But you knew this. You've probably read rendevous with rama, see the colonies or any number of similar depictions in fiction over the past 4 decades since the concept has been widely known. You were just trolling because that is /x/ to you. Being unnecessarily dense and obtuse gives you enjoyment.
>>
>>19994323
Its a giant space turd
>>
>>19994323
there were at least 4 threads when it happened. Few people replied because /x/ does not care about anything they can't roleplay. The general consensus was that it was impossible to speculate. From our perspective without current level of observation a spacecraft would be utterly indistinguishable. All we know is that it was unusual and impossible to form under current theories of accretion as well as taking a very unlikely path through the cosmos. Probably a rock with a rare origin story but who knows. Not enough information to say.
>>
Anybody else notice that the period of time on /x/ and other boards of users talking about knowing things and having a feel about something drastically increased exactly for the period of time that this object was entering and leaving our solar system

>It's weird though. It's 800X100X100 ish meters, so it's pretty fucking big.
For the last time...

an interstellar spacecraft using nuclear to achieve relativistic speeds needs to be sandwiched between two boosters, one in the ass end to accelerate it, and one on the nose to decelerate it. the acceleration booster would be jettisoned shortly after take off. the deceleration booster would be jettisoned shortly before arrival, would be free of ice and dust, and

WOULD ARRIVE AHEAD OF THE SHIP.

This is a cylindrical deceleration booster of a spacecraft about the size of an aircraft carrier that is approaching our solar system.

How soon they get here and whether or not they want to be discovered depends upon how the deceleration on their craft works, and their technology. A ship the size of an aircraft carrier is very small and hard to find in interplanetary space.

HOLD UP. I saw something similar to this inna dream i had recently,, except it was an actual ufo shaped like this picture...
>>
>>20002410 umm surely they would just have a trusted at one end and once they wanted to decelerate they would just rotate the ship 180° and engage thrust. doing it your way would mean having to accelerate a huge mass to a significant fraction of c and as speeds increase this would become more and more significant... they would need some kind of shielding for this manouvre as they would present a large csa to high energy particles, even specks of dust at that speed would be hugely damaging.

I do think its dimensions are highly suspect though for a natural space rock.... over the billions of years you would expect it to have eroded by attrition to a smooth rounded shape.... not long and thin?! I also heard it is a red object... again very unusual and further increases the possibility of it being artificial. either way it's an intriguing object anon.

It's possible. The more elements that are present, the more complex the spectrum becomes. Here's a comparison between hydrogen and helium just as an example. Helium just has an extra electron and neutron but it results in way more bands. Emission spectra are a good way to get a general idea of what the meteor or whatever is made up of, but it's not a completely exact science.

The bands are discrete, in that they always appear in the same wavelengths regardless of temperature or abundance. However, the more abundant an element is, the more intense its emission spectra will be. This can lead to certain elements being drowned out and difficult or impossible to detect.
