'I never wanted to talk to him again!': Jodie Foster admits she was 'petrified' of co-star Anthony Hopkins while filming chilling thriller Silence of the Lambs

It's one of the most iconic horror films of all time.

And Jodie Foster has confessed she was left traumatised by Sir Anthony Hopkins' spine-chilling performance in the 1991 thriller Silence Of The Lambs, which focuses on psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lecter.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the 53-year-old actress revealed she was so 'petrified' of her award-winning co-star that she didn't speak to him once on set.

Jodie said: 'I never spoke to him because he was so scary.

'The first day we had a read through and by the end of it I never wanted to talk to him again – I was petrified.

'We got to the end of the movie and really had never had a conversation.

'I actually avoided him but on the last day he came up to me and I said, with tears in my eyes, how scared I was of him and he said, "But, I was scared of you!"'

Jodie, who premiered her new film Money Monster this week, was joined by a host of A-list guests Elton John, Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling, Greg Davies and Tom Daley on the red sofa.
