Elton John smiles for the cameras and signs autographs after enjoying meal at top London restaurant with partner David Furnish 

Elton John and his husband David Furnish smiled for the cameras and signed autographs for fans this afternoon after enjoying a meal at a top London restaurant together.

Dressed smartly in suits and sunglasses, the couple grinned as the posed for photographs outside plush seafood restaurant Scott's in Mayfair after their lunch date.

The singer also stopped to sign an autograph for a fan, who had waited outside the expensive eaterie to greet the popstar.

Scott's, which is known for its popularity with celebrity diners, was a far cry from another establishment visited by the couple this week - after they were spotted dashing into a south London pub to use the toilets.  

The couple stunned drinkers at The Rose Pub in New Cross when they parked up outside in plush red Bentley, walked into the bar and asked staff if they could use the facilities.

After the quick pit stop, tracksuit-clad Sir Elton, 69, and his 53-year-old husband, who was more smartly dressed in a blazer, went on their way again, leaving diners having their lunch in the pub on Tuesday doing a double take.

Rob Agrawal, 43, had been in the pub and was shocked when he spotted the celebrity couple walk in.   

'I did a double take at first, I've never seen him in the flesh but you just know it's him instantly,' Mr Agrawal said. 

'He jumped out of a Bentley and he asked to use the toilet and David Furnish was there too and they both went to the toilet together.

Mr Agwal said he was surprised to see the celebrities in his local. 

'I was in shock, this is in New Cross Gate and Elton John just popped in in his tracksuit,' he said. 

'There was a woman stood near me and I said to her "that's Elton John isn't it?"

'I think she thought I was mad.'
