Women going under the knife are now opting for smaller enhancements to their breasts in order to achieve an athletic 'gym bod' like Taylor Swift.

The average breast size achieve through surgery has plunged from an F cup to a more modest C cup over the past decade.

In the past, Pamela Anderson, Katie Price and Jodie Marsh were the most popular celebrities referenced by those getting boob jobs.

But in recent years, this has shifted to the likes of Kendall Jenner, Taylor Swift and Nicole Scherzinger - who all have far more modest breasts.

Surgeons have revealed that for the first time more clients are opting for an athletic look, over the pneumatic look of the past.

Steven Taylor, Marketing Director of Transform, said: 'We are seeing a trend towards women opting for the high fashion toned model look.

'A toned athletic look is currently favoured over a more sexualised and glamorous look.

Nicole Scherzinger is another celebrity that is commonly cited by those seeking to improve their breasts

'It is fascinating to see how women's views of the perfect body shape have developed in a decade and how the celebrities they have referenced most during consultations with our surgeons have changed.'

As well as size, the shape of the augmentations has transformed, with focus shifting from cleavage to the sideboob. More than a quarter of women have surgery to improve their side profile.

The data also revealed that Northern women opted for bigger breasts than their southern counterparts - with a difference of one cup size on average.

On average, the biggest enhancements were carried out in Hull in the north and Southampton in the south, according to the latest figures from Transform Cosmetic Surgery.

But women in Edinburgh opted for the smallest size - an average size C - just like their counterparts in Newquay, Cornwall.

Manchester and London are also the most popular cities for boob jobs.

Katie Price and Jodie Marsh have also topped the list in the past for the most sought after breasts

TEARDROP SHAPE IMPLANTS ALSO ON THE RISE

As well as a smaller cup size, patients are also plumping for a more natural shape with teardrop implants.

Expert Harley Street Surgeon Dr. Massimiliano Marcellino has seen a huge increase in women opting for this look in order to achieve slightly enhanced breasts over an exaggerated silhouette.

Having performed more than 8,000 operations, Dr. Marcellino has also noticed cup size requests steadily falling over the past few years.

A teardrop shape, which gently slopes to a fuller projection, achieves a more natural look with a youthful firmness. Placed above the muscle but under the mammary tissue, they feature SILTEX texture, a gentle imprint designed to keep them in place.

Positioning implants in front of the muscle is also thought to reduce pain and the possibility of complications, whilst speeding up recovery time.
