Jenna Fischer axed from new comedy series because of 'chemistry issues' with Matt LeBlanc
Fans celebrated back in March as it was revealed that a fan favorite of The Office would be coupling up onscreen with another beloved TV star.
However, CBS Entertainment President Glenn Geller crushed everyone's The Office-Friends crossover dreams as he announced at Upfronts that new comedy series Man With A Plan would be recasting Jenna Fischer as the other half to Matt LeBlanc's leading man.
'It was fine, we think we can do better in terms of the chemistry between the two of them,' Glenn had said of Jenna, 42, and Matt's, 48, onscreen (and/or perhaps off-screen) relationship, according to The Wrap.
Awkward: Jenna Fischer (pictured at the Brady Bear Awards Gala on May 4) is being recast in CBS's upcoming Matt LeBlanc comedy series, due to 'chemistry issues'
The news came as the network prepared to present the upcoming series, for which it will have to air footage containing Jenna.
Glenn seemed to be trying very hard to avoid making any missteps as he discussed the change, which he said was on account of a 'chemistry issue.'
'Look, recasting on pilots happens all the time,' the executive told the audience as he discussed Man With a Plan.
Not a match: Fans will have to wait to see their The Office/Friends crossover, as Matt's comedy Man With a Plan will be finding a new leading lady, according to CBS Entertainment President Glenn Geller (Matt, pictured in September at Showtime's Emmy Eve party)
'She is a phenomenal actress. It just wasn’t the right actress for the right role, ultimately, when we saw the pilot.'
The series is set to follow a contractor (Matt) who learns that raising his kids is more challenging than expected when his wife goes back to work.
And though it is now titled Man With a Plan, it almost hinted at work as Joey Tribbiani, with the series formerly being titled: 'I'm Not Your Friend.'
Fan-favorite: Jenna starred from 2005 to 2013 as The Office's Pam Beesly, and one-half of fan-favorite couple Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (pictured)
Jenna famously starred on NBC's The Office as Pam Beesly - one half of beloved couple Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam - from 2005 to 2013.
She has since appeared on a number of TV series, including The Mysteries of Laura, The Grinder, and most recently You, Me and the Apocalypse - though this was just cancelled by British network Sky (it had aired on NBC) after one season.
Matt, meanwhile, has one final season on his Showtime series Episodes, and also stars as a host on Top Gear.
