Beats by Dre’s Powerbeats2 headphones have a new look - so now you can pound the treadmill, listen to your favourite tunes and make sure you’re fully colour-co-ordinated.

They are Beats first wireless earphones.

Supposedly inspired by LeBron James, they were designed to give gym bunnies those authentic bass-y Beats acoustics without the inevitable tangled wires.

And now the range has been updated with a new range of colours: blue, black, green, pink and white; all to match the Apple Watch sports band colours.

Because there’s nothing worse than having earphones that clash with your watch strap.

Ok, so it’s a blatant marketing gimmick but the new earphones look jazzy: bright and colourful without being too garish.

Importantly, they retain the features that made the original Powerbeats2 a hit.

The earhook is comfortable and the earbuds fit very snugly so there’s not much chance of it falling out mid-jog

They’re sweat resistant: essential for any workout earphones.

The earhook is comfortable and the earbuds fit very snugly so there’s not much chance of it falling out mid-jog.

And the charge time is rapid.

So if you’ve left them in the bottom of your bag since your last workout it will only take a quick 15-minute charge to give you a full-hour of playback.

There’s also a useful LED light that warns you when you’re low on battery.

Most importantly, we found the Bluetooth works perfectly and there was no loss of signal with its 30ft range.

Beats acoustic aren’t for everyone – many complain they are too bass heavy and it’s true Powerbeats2 have a very deep kick.

But, with Beats, you know what you are getting and there’s certainly no drop off in sound quality.

You might find the $199.95 (£169.95) price tag a little steep for a pair of earphones – but in terms of style and utility it’s hard not to recommend them.
