Baylor announced the hiring of Jim Grobe as acting football coach Monday, a move designed to bring stability to the troubled program.
Grobe, 64, replaces Art Briles, who was fired by the school’s board of regents last week amid allegations that he didn’t respond to or inappropriately handled accusations of sexual assaults by members of the school’s football team.
Grobe has been out of coaching the last two years, but spent 13 seasons as coach of Wake Forest, compiling a 77-82 overall record.
“Coach Grobe enjoys an impeccable reputation within the intercollegiate athletics community and is a man of great integrity and faith,” said athletic director Ian McCaw.
