Daring Bakers, Happy New Year & Travels

1. Sorry DB friends, but travel leaves little time for internet and even less time for baking. December was a scratch for me and January will be the same. I will be back in Feb.

2. Happy New Year!

3. I’m in Istanbul now, going to leave for cappadocia tomorrow (tonight?) night. We’re safe and well. The travel plans still stand as they did before.. we didn’t plan to go near Gaza anyway, but we’re still hoping this all gets resolved soon. Also that it won’t affect other places we plan to visit, like Jordan and Egypt.

Israel is great!

So far the birthright trip is amazing. Don’t be surprised if some time in the future I move to a bedouin tent in the middle of the desert somewhere. ^^

Turkey in a day or so. I’m excited!

Updates

Korea wise:

Whee! I got my visa issuance number! Soon I will have a new Korean visa in my passport.

Food wise:

😦 The danish bread turned out oddly. It ended up with an almost plastic-y taste that I was very unhappy with, but which nobody other than my family was able to detect. Which either means we have odd genetic weirdness in our taste buds, or more likely that everyone else is just being nice and saying that it was really good when it wasn’t. I’ll try this again, but only because it was so amazing the first time. For so much time spent on it, it’s a disappointment that it didn’t turn out better. I know at least it’s not the recipe’s fault.
