…summer is ending and fall is upon us, Swedish Fish are my new favorite candy, and there are some exciting things going on here at Category Stories!

Don’t forget that we are having an awesome Guest Designer Search!  All you have to do is participate in a challenge this month, following the instructions found here.   As far I as can tell, that is a pretty easy task with lots of great rewards!

As far as I can tell, we have some outstanding  projects to share with you for our latest challenge.  You guessed it…the category is “As Far As I Can Tell…”  Ahh, this one can go in so many directions.

We are proud again to feature the amazing work of our two September Guest Designers, April Foster and Scarlet Namvong.  They are the creative minds behind those gorgeous Studio Calico kits!  Here are their interpretations:

Happy September everyone!  We have some super exciting developments to tell you all about! 

Let’s start by introducing our newest category.  If Friday nights are for Happy Hour, Sundays are for church or family meals…what does that mean for Saturdays?  It may be the weekend day where you relax a bit in the morning and enjoy the fact that you don’t have to get out of bed for work or school!  No Saturday morning would be complete without a dose of cartoons!  For this month’s first prompt, we thought it would be cool to think about what Saturday morning cartoons mean to you!

The team and our uber-fabulous guest designers came up with some great interpretations of this prompt!   Yep, the very talented and creative leaders of Studio Calico are here with us!  Studio Calico offers monthly kits plus all the inspiration you need to make your memories last a lifetime. April Foster, owner and Design Team member for Studio Calico, is a 2007 Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame Honorable Mention winner and she has had her work published by Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbook Trends, Memory Makers, as well as some web-based scrapbooking publications. She has been scrapping since 1996, when she entered a scrapbook in a state contest for a high school club. Even though first place eluded her, she has continued to scrapbook, however, it is now more personal. Whether it’s documenting places she’s traveled or feelings she has, scrapbooking is now her creative outlet and one tiny way to show off her dogs, Addy and Jett.

Scarlet Namvong is a Creative Director and Design Team member for Studio Calico. She is a 2006 Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame Honorable Mention winner and has had her work published by Creating Keepsakes, Memory Makers, Scrapbook Answers, Paper Crafts Magazine, and Cards. She has been scrapbooking in one way or another for about 10 years, but it wasn’t until after the birth of her daughter that she truly realized the role that scrapbooking would play in her future. As a mother who works outside of the home, she is always wishing for more time to indulge in creative activities (and an occasional nap).

Our very own, Stephanie is getting married this weeked and we all wish her and her hubbie-to-be the best!

Last, but certainly not least, we have a great opportunity to share with you all!  We are having a guest designer contest!  To participate, complete BOTH of the September challenges before the end of the month. E-mail them to us along with a short bio. 3 winners will be chosen. Each winner will then be given a month (and will only need to complete one of the categories that month) in which to be spotlighted. For example, because we will be contacting the winners the first week in October, the winner assigned to that month will complete the 2nd category for October. Gives her a little time!
