One.
Supermarket is unusually crowded. Must be a senior day. Old couples, mostly, slowly blocking the aisles with their long shopping lists. (I’m now retired. A strange feeling, it took me long to make that decision. I could write an other story about that. But it is a great place to be.)
So here we are with senior citizens, my husband and I. We wander different directions occasionally, he is waiting on line at Deli counter, I pick up a California Sour from Bakery. As I approach him, an older man wearing a Harley Davidson tee-shirt is carrying a conversation with him. They laugh. As we go out I ask what it all was about. “He poked me on the arm and said, WOW she’s still good-looking!.”

We in a department store. Looking for nothing, just had to get out of the house. And, OK, I had a 30% coupon. A woman about ten years younger than me stops to ask where the heck the ladies section is. “They always have to move their stuff around so we have to walk around I can’t lose any more weight even I had two liposuctions and my back is welded at some points as well the tailbone and I had two heart attacks and barely made it we had seven foster children and now have seventeen grandchildren some living all the way in California the one there was born with hole in her heart but is now living a healthy and happy life so where was that section again?” I wanted to say, wow, you are one brave woman but did not get a chance. My husband comes by and asks what the heck was that all about?

A few years ago a garden center in town was closing. Great discounts but quite picked thru already. My daughter wants to go again. OK, I’m game as always when it comes to discounts of good stuff. We looked at things that we earlier had combed thru but did not find them to be discounted deeply enough then to purchase. Now, yes or no? Why not, makes great gifts! Picked up candles and kitchen towels and holiday decorations and flower pots and what-nots. Ribbons, wrapping paper…
The manager climbed up on a high ladder, calls for attention. “We will be closing in two hours! Anything you can fit into this apple bushel, will be 25 cents! Total! One per person!” Wow! Now it looked better! We went back to those expensive candle sticks, the bigger flower pots, little garden stands, door wreaths, more ribbons. Two bushels, total 54 cents with tax. Original prices totaled over $600.
