Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari asserted that the report issued by the United Nations and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) on the chemical attacks in Syria lacks physical evidence on using chlorine in the two cases referred to in the report.
Addressing a press conference after a closed-session of the UN Security Council on Tuesday to discuss the third report of the Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM), al-Jaafari said the report’s conclusions are not convincing as they are based on accounts by witnesses affiliated to the armed terrorist groups.
Asked on whether Syria sees in the new report renewed pressure to return to the “red line” scenario, al-Jaafari made it clear that “this file has been ambiguous and disputable from the beginning” where many governments that are hostile to Syria fished in troubled waters regarding this file, in particular the American administration, only to later appear that it was inaccurate being based on false and baseless information.
UN Vitaly Churkin asserted: “Already at this stage, we have a number of questions regarding the findings of the OPCW-UN Joint Investigative Mechanism on some cases. Evidence provided in the report gives rise to serious doubts. It could have been fabricated by the forces opposed to Damascus and terrorist groups, perhaps not without outside help.”… … …

The killing of a top figure in the terrorist group Islamic State, Abu Muhammed al-Adnani, was the result of an airstrike conducted by a Russian Su-34 bomber, Russia’s Defense Ministry said Wednesday.
The death of al-Adnani, Islamic State’s spokesman and its leader in Syria, in a bombing in the Syrian province of Aleppo was earlier confirmed by the terrorist organization itself.
In an airstrike conducted in the area of Maarat Umm Hawsh on Tuesday, the Su-34 targeted a group of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) fighters numbering about 40 people, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
Al-Adnani’s death was confirmed by several intelligence channels.
Abu Mohammed al-Adnani, Islamic State spokesman and its leader in Syria, has been killed in Aleppo province, according to ISIS’ own news agency Amaq. Pentagon told Reuters that it had carried out an air strike against a “senior IS official” but did not confirm that it was behind al-Adnani’s death.
One of the longest-serving Islamic State (Daesh, IS, formerly ISIS / ISIL) figureheads, al-Adnani was reportedly killed “while surveying the operations to repel the military campaigns against Aleppo.”

According to press reports Turkey’s air force and artillery were involved in “pounding ISIS strongholds” in Jarablus. Turkey’s mandate according to an official communique is to “completely cleanse terrorists from its border region with Syria.”
The media applauds. Turkey has a humanitarian mission under the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) doctrine.
The truth of the matter is that Turkey sponsors the terrorists and then invades Syria on the pretext that it must protect Syria from the ISIS.
Erdogan is going after his own terrorists. The ISIS is sponsored and supported by the Turkish High command.

Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said on Monday that the violations and massacres committed by the Turkish regime in the Syrian territories form a crime of aggression and crimes against humanity, adding that combating terrorism on the Syrian territories by any side must be done in coordination with the government of the Syrian Arab Republic and the Syrian Arab Army.
“The Turkish army’s air and artillery forces, in coordination with the armed terrorist organizations, targeted the villages of Jub al-Kusa and al-Amarneh to the south of Jarabulus city in Aleppo through shelling randomly, leading to a massacre and killing 35 civilians, 20 of them were killed in Jub al-Kusa and 15 others in al-Amarneh village, in addition to dozens wounded persons”.
It added that “the drama played by the Turkish regime through entering Jarabulus city, where it didn’t shoot fire a single bullet at ISIS, rather it let ISIS join the Turkish army and enter Jarabulus is an evidence on the cooperation between the Turkish regime and ISIS.”

In Syria, there are more than 100 militant groups fighting against the state army. Unusually, President Bashar Assad has offered an amnesty to militants who surrender.
This is definitely a good policy and military strategy, excellent for resolving internal and personal conflicts, but let us be wary of these individuals, who first turned their guns against their own brothers, and later, with circumstances unfavorable to them, they took the amnesty opportunity to get out of difficult situations. The second phase of the implementation of the agreement which was reached to evacuate Daraya city in western Ghouta of weapons and gunmen ended on Saturday in preparation for the return of locals to it.
The gunmen had set fire to many of their headquarters and positions inside Daraya before their departure, just like their fellow militants did yesterday.
The positions set ablaze contained computers and communication devices, proving that the gunmen had external affiliations, according to the reporter.
Tens of buses had entered the city earlier today to evacuate more people and gunmen.
Those buses transporting families have already left the city towards the makeshift centers, while others transporting gunmen and their family members have headed towards Idleb city, after being searched at army checkpoints as they cannot take any medium or heavy weapons with them.

When in December 1979, the Soviet Union had to intervene in Afghanistan to stop the country turning into a haven for fundamentalist terror groups, the collective West accused Moscow of aggression and a land grab. Sanctions were imposed, the 1980 Moscow Olympics were boycotted by the US and some of its client states, and what the West called “moderate” opposition to the government of Babrak Karmal, were given money and weapons to “bleed the Soviets to the last Afghan,” as Selig Harrison, a Washington Post correspondent and a long-time Afghanistan watcher with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace think tank put it. His objective media reports from Afghanistan were dismissed by Washington as pro-Moscow propaganda.
Rings a bell? It should, because the Western handling of Syria looks very much like a repetition of its tactics in Afghanistan, the terrible consequences of which are now for all to see. So what do the FCO Afghan papers tell us about the way the West is going about its world “leadership”?

Russia’s UN envoy has called on the international community not to draw “hasty conclusions” from a year-long UN investigation that blames the Syrian government for carrying out two chemical weapons attacks in the past two years, and Islamic State for one.
“We shouldn’t come to hasty conclusions. We need to step very carefully here,” Vitaly Churkin told the Russian media in New York, saying Russia needs more time to study the 95-page report.
The UN Security Council-backed investigation was conducted by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and the UN’s Joint Investigative Mechanism, a body known as JIM that investigated nine separate chemical weapons attacks that had been previously verified by the OPCW.
All incidents occurred after 2013, when Syria handed over its chemical weapons arsenal to international monitors. In six instances, JIM was not able to definitively apportion blame, in two cases, in Idlib in 2014 and 2015, the report said that government forces had used chlorine gas – which was not removed in 2013 due to its civilian uses, but is forbidden on the battlefield. In one case, Islamic State appeared to have used mustard gas in Marea in August of 2015…

New York, 25/8/2016 ~ Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Bashar al-Jaafari stressed that the flagrant Turkish violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian state and the aggression on the Syrian city of Jarablus in Aleppo countryside came under the air cover of the US-led coalition’s air force which has frequently violated the Syrian sovereignty during the past two years.
In an interview with the Russian Sputnik news agency on Wednesday, al-Jaafari stressed that “it is impossible to defeat ISIS in Syria without first defeating it in Turkey,” asking “How can Turkey say that it is fighting ISIS in Jarablus if Turkey itself allowed the establishment of ISIS and helped in the development of it by providing thousands of Toyota cars and other branded cars with built-in weapons? It further provided funds from the Gulf States to purchase weapons from Ukraine, Croatia, Bulgaria and other countries.”
l-Jaafari affirmed that those who actually want to help Syria fight terrorism must coordinate their efforts with the Syrian Arab army and join a real international coalition to help fight terrorism.
On Wednesday morning, the Turkish regime’s tanks and armored vehicles crossed the Turkish-Syrian border into Jarablus city, allegedly to fight ISIS, but with the real intention of supporting its terrorist militias, in a new violation of the Syrian sovereignty….

Turkey has launched a ground incursion into Syria targeting Islamic State and Kurdish fighters near the town of Jarablus. Ankara says it wants to take the town to stop cross-border attacks, while the Kurds warn that Turkish troops will get into a quagmire.
“At 4:00 this morning, operations started in the north of Syria against terror groups which constantly threaten our country, like Daesh [Arabic name for Islamic State] and the PYD [he Democratic Union Party of Syria],” Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a speech in Ankara.
The Kurdish Firat news agency (ANFNews) reported that 29 civilians have been killed by the advancing Turkish and allied mercenary-terrorists so far. Some 3,000 ethnic Kurds have reportedly fled Jarablus and its neighboring areas since the Turkish operation became imminent. The Kurds object to the operation, believing it to be a ploy to prevent Kurdish militias from retaking the town.
An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said that Turkish tanks and armored vehicles on Wednesday morning crossed the Syrian-Turkish borders towards Jarablos city under cover of the Us-led alliance’s air forces.
The source said that Syria asserts that fighting terrorism on Syrian terrorism by any side must be conducted by coordinating with the Syrian government and the Syrian Arab Army which has been fighting terrorism for over five years.

A doctor whose hospital was taken over by rebels, a woman taking care of orphaned children and a jeweler running a small shop have told why, as Aleppo residents, they have decided to stay, despite huge risks.
Ibrahim Hadidi, a UK-trained local doctor with his skills allowing him to easily leave the war-ravaged country, is still treating patients in Aleppo.
“Being here is my duty, I feel I’m among my family,” he told RT’s Lizzie Phelan, currently reporting from Syria’s former biggest city.
“My students, my patients, my relatives, my people, all of them are my family. Syria is my home and I will not leave whatever happens. And I have a great hope that this country will come back to be rebuilt, to be far better than the previous situation of these troubles.”
“[The terrorists] don’t want people to stay in their country and to build health authorities and health centers to give these very important and vital health centers to people,” he said, adding that the doctors have also been targeted by terrorists.

Russia’s brand new ‘flying radar’, reportedly capable of detecting enemy targets at ranges of more than 600km, will be flight-tested next March. The A-100 Premier will make her maiden flight by 2018, a defense source told Russian media.
The Beriev A-100 is an airborne early warning and control (AWACS) aircraft currently being developed by Russia, an upgrade of the A-50. The long-awaited addition to the Russian Air Force has already been verified on the ground and are ready for in-flight equipment trials, the source told Izvestia newspaper.
“At the moment, all deadlines have been set up and agreed with the military industry,” the source said.
An older Il-76 version, the MD-90A aircraft – codenamed A-100LL during the flight tests – would be first used as a “flying laboratory” to stress-test all systems in the air. The trial is scheduled for March 2017, the source said.

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari stressed that the first and last one who is responsible for the suffering of the Syrians are those governments which claimed that they are friends of the Syrian people, indicating that the coercive economic measures imposed on Syria have played a big role in the suffering of the Syrians.
Al-Jaafari, in a session of the UN Security Council held Monday, added that the Syrian Government is surprised by the continuation of falsifying the facts in the reports of the UN General-Secretariat on the humanitarian situation in Syria.
He added that any report by the UN should be based on neutral and credible sources and not on what is called “open sources” or the “opposition centers” abroad which are financed by foreign intelligences with a single goal which is distorting the image of the Syrian Government internationally as these reports aren’t based on any credible evidence.
Al-Jaafari indicated that these reports intentionally or unintentionally cover the crimes of the armed terrorist organizations through describing them sometimes as “armed opposition” and sometimes as “armed groups from other countries”.
He decried the General Secretariat unprecedented attempt to justify the crime of beheading the Palestinian child “Abdullah Issa” in Aleppo at the hands of the terrorist movement of “Nour Eddin al-Zinki” as the report said that the movement issued a statement in which it said that it isn’t responsible for that crime as if the report wants to say that the acts of this terrorist group of recruiting and killing children are permissible and its leaders are adhered to the international laws.
He reiterated that the solution to the crisis in Syria is a political solution based on inter-Syrian dialogue and under a Syrian leadership without any foreign interference or any preconditions and that the political track should be in line with combating terrorism and will not end till eliminating all terrorist organizations in Syria…

And on a subterranean level, the “liberation” of Manbij took place to give collaborationist Kurdish forces a strong foothold in a key northern Syrian area so they can push forward with their ‘Israeli’-birthed Federalization/”Rojava”/Partition agenda.

The photojournalist behind the viral images of ‘the boy in the ambulance‘, which continue to make headlines around the world, has been identified by the Associated Press (AP) as Mahmoud Raslan (also spelled Rslan). His photo of a shell-shocked boy who barely survived an airstrike in Aleppo has captured the hearts and emotions of millions and conveyed a powerful momentary glimpse into the senseless and horrific devastation endured by Syria’s innocent children. But while some praise Raslan, he appears to have some horrific skeletons in his own closet.
Raslan’s social media history reveals a bizarre twist, which demonstrates the ironies and complexities of the Syrian conflict. The photographer has posted photos of himself posing with known child-killers from another recent viral moment: the infamous filmed beheading of a 12-year-old Palestinian boy captured in Aleppo by the ‘Zenki’ militant group.
The Palestinian boy, filmed surrounded by his Zenki executioners in the back of a pick-up truck just prior to his beheading, had been reportedly removed from a hospital and had intravenous lines (IV) attached to him.
On 5 August, about two weeks after the public beheading committed by unmasked men whose identities were made clear by the camera, Mahmoud Raslan uploaded a selfie with two men who had apparently been among those carrying out the shocking execution on his Facebook page… … …

Judicial Watch proved it. Under a Freedom of Information Act request, Judicial Watch was able to obtain a (heavily redacted) copy of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) directive that initiated the creation of ISIS in 2012. The DIA report states,
“THE WEST, GULF COUNTRIES, AND TURKEY [WHO] SUPPORT THE [SYRIAN] OPPOSITION . . . [SUPPORT] ESTABLISHING A DECLARED OR UNDECLARED SALAFIST PRINCIPALITY IN EASTERN SYRIA . . . IN ORDER TO ISOLATE THE SYRIAN REGIME . . .”.
Not even Judicial Watch seems to have appreciated the significance of this document, where its press release focused on the Benghazi attack. Recent releases of Hillary’s emails, moreover, confirm that taking out Assad has nothing to do with his alleged abuse of the Syrian people but because it will help Israel.
Just in case it has slipped anyone’s mind, Hillary was Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013. Barack was inaugurated in 2008 and steps down in 2016. It happened on their watch. It could not have happened without their approval. They really did create ISIS!

Washington’s media presstitutes are using the image of the child to bring pressure on Russia to stop the Syrian army from retaking Alleppo.
Washington wants its so-called moderate rebels to retain Alleppo so that Washington can split Syria in two, thereby keeping a permanent pressure against President Assad.
As for the little boy in the propaganda picture, he does not seem to be badly injured. Let us not forget the tens of thousands of children that Washington’s wars and bombings of 7 Muslim countries have killed without any tears shed by CNN anchors, and let us not forget the 500,000 Iraqi children that the United Nations concluded died as a result of US sanctions against Iraq, children’s deaths that Clinton’s Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said were worth it.
Let us not forget that Washington’s determination to overthrow the Syrian government has brought many deaths to Syrians of all age groups. Washington alone is responsible for the deaths. The evil Obama regime has stated over and over that “Assad must go” and is prepared to destroy the country and much of the population in order to get rid of him.

The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces said that the Asayish, the military wing of the Kurdistan Workers Party, has recently escalated its provocative actions in Hasaka city, attacking state establishments, stealing oil and cotton, disrupting examinations, carrying out abductions, and causing a state of chaos and instability.
In a statement on Friday, the General Command said that these actions took a more dangerous turn as the Asayish encircled Hasaka city, shelled it with artillery and tanks, and targeted Syrian Arab Army positions in it, claiming the lives of a number of military personnel and civilians.
The statement clarified that the recurring attacks on citizens and the Syrian Arab Army are carried out exclusively by the Asayish and are not related to any specific Syrian component, affirming at the same time that it will respond to any such attack by any side and exert efforts to prevent the situation from escalating in order to preserve Syria’s territorial integrity and the safety of Syrian citizens.

Millions of Yemenis took to Sanaa streets on Saturday in a historical rally to voice support to the Supreme Political Council, which was recently formed to run the country in the face of US-led aggression against the Arab impoverished country.
Millions chanted for Yemen, waving the national flags as they flocked the main square of al-Sabi’in in a bid to back the political body which was formed after the UN-brokered peace talks broke down earlier last month.
The Head of the Supreme Political Council, Saleh al-Sammad, saluted the crowds stressing that their number was equal to population of four Gulf states which have been taking part in the Saudi-led coalition waging war on Yemen since March 2015.
“It is a shame to conspire against our people who represent the cradle of civilization in this region,” Sammad addressed the Saudi-led coalition states as saying.
The formation of the Supreme Political Council prompted Yemen’s parliament to hold its first session earlier this month since the outbreak of the conflict. The lawmakers endorsed the new council and formally stripped Hadi of any responsibility.
The decision to establish the council was made by Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement and former President Ali Abdullah Saleh’s General People’s Congress party back in late July. It was formally launched on August 6, when the Houthis and Saleh’s faction announced that they both had an equal share in the 10-member body.

In the run-up to the major G20 meeting to be held on September 4th and 5th in in Hangzhou, China has made a major public announcement about its role in the Syrian conflict.
On Sunday August 15th, 2016 in Damascus, the Syrian defense minister Fahd Jassem al-Freij held a meeting with the head of the Office of International Military Cooperation of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the PRC, Rear Admiral Guan Youfei.
An agreement has been reached in relation to the Syrian conflict. China’s military will significantly increase its role in the Syrian conflict, by upgrading the role of special advisers and adding military trainers for the Syrian personnel, and increasing their numbers.
China will also begin to directly supply the Syrian Arab Army with material needs, and also increase its humanitarian assistance. Presently, hundreds of Chinese military advisers are involved in the Syrian conflict.

Aside from the standard list of lies which US-led ‘Coalition’ representatives regularly spout regarding their so-called ‘moderate rebels’ (terrorists) in Syria, there is another key lie which is only barely holding Washington and London’s house of cards together – that is the idea that some of these ‘moderate rebels’ (terrorists) are somehow engaged in the grand crusade against ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh (all terms apply equally to ISIS). For all intents and purposes, this spurious western claim is a lie – one of many lies about Syria constantly being fed to the public by western politicians and media functionaries.
The reality, outside of the Washington-London “classified” reality bubble is that these US-NATO-GCC-backed ‘moderate rebels’ (terrorists) have, more or less, the exact same objectives as ISIS,and unless they are fighting over control over money or illicit black markets, their shared collective goal is the overthrow of the Syrian government in Damascus via ‘regime change’ and an end to a secular, multi-religious nation-state of Syria. Put simply: their flag designs and online brands may differ, but they are effectively one in the same. So it only stands to reason that if the US-NATO allies are wholeheartedly backing this rebel-terrorist ‘armed opposition’ conclave, then despite their highfalutin rhetoric, US-NATO allies are also supporting an end to the secular multi-religious nation-state in Syria.
Furthermore, as western-backed terrorist rebels share the same objectives as ISIS, then by extension – this also means that the US-NATO allies share the exact same goals as ISIS. Yes, that’s right: US-NATO forces have positioned themselves as natural allies of ISIS, alongside the ‘moderate rebel’ terrorists who have already received billions in western taxpayer-funded arms, equipment, training, intelligence support and cash.

MOSCOW AND TEHRAN SIGN DEAL ALLOWING RUSSIAN JETS TO USE HAMADAN AIRBASE
Russian Defense Ministry said Tuesday that Russian long-range bombers, having taken off from Hamadan air base in Iran, destroyed weapon depots and command centers of ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organizations in Syria in a series of sorties .
It added that the sorties left a big number of terrorists killed and destroyed five weapon, explosives and fuel depots at the surrounding of Saraqeb, al-Bab, Aleppo and Deir Ezzor.
Rossiya 24 channel said earlier that Russian bombers reached in the Iranian Hamedan air base to participate in strikes on ISIS terrorist organization positions in Syria, pointing out that deploying the Russian jets in Iran facilitate their work through reducing flight time by 60%.

More than 2,500 files from the raft of organizations run by billionaire George Soros have been leaked by hackers. Saturday’s leak, published by DC leaks, includes hundreds of internal documents from multiple departments of Soros’ groups, predominantly the Open Society Foundations. The files are grouped into sections such as geographical region, the World Bank and the President’s Office, and cover the period from 2008 up until 2016, according to The Daily Caller. They reveal work plans, strategies, priorities and other activities by Soros, and include reports on European elections, migration and asylum in Europe. DC Leaks also revealed emails from former NATO general Philip Breedlove which showed he tried to provoke President Obama to start US conflict against Russia. Breedlove claimed to CNN in July that the emails were stolen as part of a state-sponsored intelligence operation. Soros’ Open Society Foundations provides funding to the International Consortium for Investigative Journalists, which came under the spotlight earlier this year after the release of the Panama Papers, which included millions of records from law firm Mossack Fonseca showing how the wealthy are using tax havens. In a video released by the Russian security service on Friday, a Ukrainian infiltrator tells investigators that he eyed the central bus station and airport in Crimea’s Simferopol for bomb attacks.
More planned terrorist attacks in Crimea have been revealed by the Federal Security Service (FSB) after it raided a Ukrainian infiltrator group on the peninsula over the weekend. One member of the FSB and one infiltrator died in the following shootout.
FSB has now released the video of the questioning of another infiltrator who was arrested seven days prior to the weekend’s operation.
The man, Ridvan Suleymanov, told investigators he was “aimed at choosing places for planting of explosive devices and terrorist acts,” at the bus station and airport in Simferopol, the capital city of Crimea. In the video he also admitted that “civilians could die” as a result.
Russia’s most advanced to date anti-aircraft defense system S-400 Triumph has been delivered to a surface-to-air missile (SAM) regiment in Crimea. The military will first deploy their newly received hardware in a training exercise ongoing in the region.
Plans of the S-400 deployment to Crimea were announced by the Russian Defense Ministry in July. After the air defense complex was successfully used in field firing at a training target missile in the Astrakhan region in southern Russia, it was delivered to the peninsula, military officials announced on Friday.

Events in the siege of Aleppo since our last update have followed a tense yet decisive course. While the specifics remained fluid, the overall outcome was a somewhat predictable course given the balance of forces.

What’s been proposed of course is that the US and cohorts pushed ISIS precisely where they would later want to have a Kurdistan partition of Syria.

General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation announced on Wednesday that the losses of the armed terrorist groups during the military operations south-west of Aleppo in the last 4 days reached at nearly one thousand killed and two thousand wounded terrorists.
Russian Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that long-range bombers hit a number of ISIS sites and fortified positions in Raqqa province, northern Syria.
The Syrian Army on Thursday continued heavy military operations against terrorist groups across the country, mainly in Aleppo, inflicting heavy losses upon them in personnel and equipment.
The Syrian army’s air force destroyed tens of armored vehicles and explosives for terrorist organizations and killed a large number of terrorists, among them leaders in the surroundings of Ramousah, Ameriya and Khan Touman in Aleppo countryside.
The Syrian and Russian Air Forces launched strikes on positions and gatherings of terrorists to the south of Aleppo, killing large numbers of them and destroying armored cars and a number of vehicles, some of which equipped with machine guns and cannons, a military source said.
Syrian and Russian air forces destroy four command centers, three car bombs and scores of armored vehicles and kill a number of terrorists including leaders during concentrated air strikes south of Aleppo.

Two missile carriers of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet departed Sevastopol to take part in an exercise in the eastern part of the Mediterranean. The Russian Buyan-M class corvettes, Zelyony Dol and Serpukhov, armed with the Kalibr-NK long-range cruise missile system, will steam to the Syrian coast. They will conduct artillery and missile firing practice during the tour, the Russian Defence Ministry said. ‘MORELL THE KILLER’ STORY:
The Khazarians are not hiding it anymore. In their frustration over the effective ongoing global active resistance against their genocidal plans throughout the Middle East and elsewhere around the globe, they could not contain their evil desires anymore.
They just want to have Hillary Clinton in power at all cost, embed themselves within her government, and kill all their enemies abroad as they are already doing at home.
Former acting CIA Director Michael Morell said in an interview Monday that U.S. policy in Syria should be to make Iran and Russia “pay a price” by arming local groups and instructing them to kill Iranian and Russian personnel in the country.
Morell was appearing on the Charlie Rose show on PBS in the wake of his publicly endorsing Hillary Clinton on the New York Timesopinion pages.
Clinton has expressed support for increased military intervention in Syria against Bashar al-Assad’s Syrian government. Iran and Russia are backing Assad.
“What they need is to have the Russians and Iranians pay a little price,” Morell said. “When we were in Iraq, the Iranians were giving weapons to the Shia militia, who were killing American soldiers, right? The Iranians were making us pay a price. We need to make the Iranians pay a price in Syria. We need to make the Russians pay a price.”
Morell said the killing of Russians and Iranians should be undertaken “covertly, so you don’t tell the world about it, you don’t stand up at the Pentagon and say ‘we did this.’ But you make sure they know it in Moscow and Tehran.”
Morell also proposed that U.S. forces begin bombing Syrian government installations, including government offices, aircraft and presidential guard positions. The former acting CIA director said that he wanted to “scare Assad.” Morell clarified that he wasn’t actually calling for Assad’s assassination… … …
