With the Syrian Army advancing across the front, Saudi Arabia has announced its willingness to escalate the conflict by supplying portable surface-to-air missiles to terrorists fighting against Syrian forces and, presumably, the Russian forces assisting them.

But is it a genuine threat, or just part of Riyadh’s campaign of information warfare?

In the long term, Russian military expert Viktor Murakhovski suggests, Saudi SAM deliveries “will not significantly influence the course and outcome of the ongoing fighting in Syria.”

Would they force Syrian and Russian aircraft to adjust their tactics? Definitely.

Could they lead to losses for Syrian aircraft? Possibly.

Could they result in Russia assisting the Syrian Air Force by providing it with modern SAM countermeasures? Certainly.

A batch of over 20 Russian Armata tanks are currently undergoing producer trials and will be sent to the country’s armed forces this or next year. The advanced armor platform may have a variant armed with a 152mm cannon.

Armata is a tracked armor platform, which can be used to build various types of vehicles. It’s best known in the variants of T-14 and T-15 tanks, but the chassis was used in a self-propelled gun, an infantry fighting vehicle, a rocket launcher and other vehicles.

The Russian ceasefire monitoring center near Latakia says it is verifying reports of an attack on the Kurdish town Tell Abyad in northern Syria carried out by militants coming from Turkey.

The reports came overnight and claim that the forces coming from Turkey are using heavy artillery, according to Lt. Gen. Sergey Kuralenko, who heads the center for Syrian reconciliation.

The UN World Food Program (WFP) aids for the restricted Syrian civilians in Deir Ezzor city have landed mostly in ISIS controlled territories, a source in the city’s administration said Thursday.

Earlier on Thursday, the United Nations said that the WFP had dropped 21 tons of aid into the city on Wednesday.

“Planes dropped the humanitarian help sent by the United Nations into the territory controlled by Daesh.

Just two containers ended up in the areas where the Syrian army [is located],” the source told RIA Novosti.

The contents of the containers that landed on the government-controlled territory has been badly damaged due to a parachute system failure, the source added.

Units of the Syrian Army and Syrian Armed Forces have made more progress in combating terrorism, killing foreign backed mercenaries, destroying their vehicles and restoring security and stability to more villages and areas in different provinces.

Terrorist organizations confirmed on Friday the death of 2 of their leaders in Darayya city in Damascus Countryside.

The terrorist organizations acknowledged on their social media pages that the terrorist Faysal al-Shami known as “Abu Malik al-Mikdad” the leader of the so called “Ajnad al-Sham Islamic Union” was killed in Darayya today.

The pages also admitted the death of the terrorist Imad Abu Mohamed, field leader in the so called “Islam Martyrs Brigade” in addition to a number of terrorists in the city.

A military source said that Army units, serving in the southeastern countryside of Aleppo, secured the road from Aleppo to Khanaser and eliminated ISIS terrorists’ gatherings from the area after destroying their last gatherings and hideouts in the vicinity of the road.

The UN Security Council on Friday unanimously adopted resolution No. 2268 on cessation of combat activities in Syria.

The council reiterated commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, voicing support to settle the crisis in Syria through the UN, based on Geneva Statement and Vienna declarations.

Members of the Council called on UN Secretary General and his Special Envoy for Syria to resume the Syrian-Syrian dialogue as soon as possible.

In a statement after the Council adopted the resolution, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov stressed the need to stop the support provided for terrorist organizations by foreign sides because that hinders the political solution for the crisis in Syria.

Based on the information released from all parties involved in the Syrian War (save the Jihadist groups), the only ceasefire zones that will be implemented are in northern Hama, Dara’a, Al-Ghaab Plains, northern Homs, and the east Qalamoun.

The conflict on the ground is not expected to change, despite the attempt to cease all hostilities between the Syrian Opposition and Governorate.

The Government forces are expected to continue their wide-scale offensives in the Aleppo and Latakia governorates, while both sides trade attacks in the Al-Ghaab Plains of northwestern Hama.

Per the map, Jabhat Al-Nusra and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham are embedded in almost every rebel camp in Syria; so there are really no guaranteed safe-zones, even in the provinces like Al-Quneitra and Dara’a where the territory is mostly under Free Syrian Army (FSA) control.

Mercenary gangs in alliance with al-Nusra Front, which is excluded from the ceasefire agreement in force in Syria, have opened fire in civilian areas of Aleppo and Homs.

The terrorists opened mortar fire in the Sheikh, Ashrafiyeh and Kurdish neighbourhoods of Aleppo.

The shelling was conducted from the Bin Ziyad area, which is where groups that do not agree with the truce are located.

Shelling from their side started right after midnight.

The foreign backed mercenaries are from the Liwa al-Sultan Murad gang which has refused to comply with the ceasefire because of its alliance with al-Nusra Front.

Liwa al-Sultan Murad controls one of Aleppo’s central areas called ‘Bustan al-Pasha’.

The Syrian Army commandos stepped on the territories of the Northwestern province of Idlib after prevailing over the last defense lines of the militant groups and capturing of Ein al-Beidha in Lattakia province.

The Syrian commandos finally reached the strategic border with the Idlib province after several-month-long of nonstop fighting with the terrorists of al-Nusra Front and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the Lattakia province’s Northeastern part.

Yemeni forces on Wednesday killed at least 54 Saudi troops, including commanders, in a ballistic missile attack in the northern Jawf province, said the country’s Defense Ministry.

Dozens of Saudi backed mercenaries were killed on Thursday night by the army and popular committees in Mareb province, a security official said Friday.

Two citizens were killed on Friday in an air raid launched by the Saudi aggression war jets on Nehm district in Sana’a province.

Testifying Tuesday before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Secretary of State John Kerry faced intensely hostile questioning as he defended a Syrian “cessation of hostilities” reached with Moscow that is supposed to go into effect this weekend.

Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer of California suggested that the agreement might be little more than a “rope-a-dope” deal, while the committee’s Republican chairman, Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee, warned that Russia would “continue to kill the folks that are our friends and allies.”

Kerry responded by stressing that there was a “significant discussion taking place now about a Plan B,” presumably entailing a major escalation of the US military intervention in Syria and a potential armed confrontation with Russia, should the truce deal fail to further Washington’s aims.

The key sticking point in the US-Russian deal is precisely the status of those to whom Senator Corker referred as “the folks that are our friends and allies.” He, like the Obama administration, the Pentagon, the CIA, and the entire political and media establishment, carefully avoided any precise identification of these “folks.”

The dirty secret they are all doing their best to conceal is that Washington’s most important “friend” and “ally” in the war for regime change in Syria has been, since its inception nearly five years ago, Al Qaeda. It is this criminal relationship that is at the heart of the difficulties in brokering any kind of negotiated halt to the grinding sectarian war that has killed more than a quarter of a million Syrians and turned 11 million more into homeless refugees.

The cessation of hostilities that is supposed to take place on Saturday specifically excludes both the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a split-off from Al Qaeda, and the al-Nusra Front, Al Qaeda’s designated Syrian franchise. The High Negotiations Committee, the Syrian “rebel” front cobbled together by the Saudi monarchy for the purpose of UN-sponsored negotiations, has rejected any ceasefire that fails to protect al-Nusra.

US intelligence analysts have warned that al-Nusra and the so-called “moderate” terrorists promoted by Washington are “intermingled.” Brett McGurk, the Obama administration’s envoy to the “coalition” participating in the US-led war in Iraq and Syria, told a White House press briefing Tuesday that the supposed moderates and the Al Qaeda group “are marbled together”.

The Syrian warplanes targeted a number of positions and center points of terrorist groups in the Eastern province of Hama, killing dozens of militants and destroying their military hardware.

Syrian army jets, in a concerted action, attacked several terrorist positions in Kefr Zeita, some 39 kilometers Northwest of Hama, and regions around Hor Benafseh town.

The air raids claimed the lives of dozens of militants and left many more injured, inflicting heavy damage on the militants’ positions.

The Syrian air force also pounded military positions and gathering centers of the terrorists groups in the city of Balada al-Sarmaniya and the village of Qarqour, inflicting heavy losses on them.

The Syrian army extended its control over Darayya city in the Western Ghouta of Damascus countryside, punching the terrorists in a restricted area.

The Syrian army and popular forces made gains in several areas in the Northeastern countryside of Lattakia, purging them of terrorists.

The Syrian Army units, in cooperation with popular defense groups, purged the terrorists from Barza al-Tahtani village and Katef al-Zaitona, Daher Sando, Tal Ghweirat and Jabal Abu Ali regions in the Northeastern countryside of Lattakia, field sources said on Thursday.

Yemeni army missiles targeted and destroyed another Saudi warship in the Red Sea in al-Mukha coastal waters near Bab al-Mandeb Strait on Wednesday.

“The missile fired by the army and popular forces destroyed the Saudi warship in al-Khukha coastal waters as it was heading towards the al-Faza coastal region in al-Hudayda province,” Arabic-language media outlets quoted a military source.

The Syrian army units won back the strategic town of Khanaser, Southeast of Aleppo province, which was the scene of fierce battles in recent days.

The army’s latest advance in Aleppo province was made after heavy clashes with the terrorist groups in the region.

US Secretary of State John Kerry said Washington is considering a “plan B” in Syria, if peace negotiations and the ceasefire fail. Media reports suggest that the backup plan could include the division of Syria.

Mr. Kerry’s comments came after Russia and the US agreed a document on the cessation of hostilities in the Arab republic. According to the deal, the ceasefire will start on February 27 and will last for one week.

The truce is applied to all parties of the conflict, which indicated their commitment to accept the terms of the deal, except for the terrorist groups Daesh and al-Nusra Front.

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has extended for one year its sanctions against Yemen’s Ansarullah movement amid unabated Saudi aggression on the impoverished country.

The Security Council on Wednesday extended its sanctions on Ansarullah movement and the former president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, until February 26, 2017.

The UN Security Council passed a resolution last year targeting the Houthi Ansarullah movement in Yemen.

Syria’s Permanent Envoy to the United Nations Bashar al-Jaafari said that the Syrian government doesn’t recognize the authority of the The Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria and doesn’t accept discussing its members.

Al-Jaafari, at an informal session for the UN General Assembly held on Tuesday to hear a briefing from members of The Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria, said “The selectivity and politicization became firm types in the reports and briefings of the commission that rely on fake narrations and misleading testimonies of some people out of the Syrian borders or fabricated reports of non -government organizations.”

He added “The commission ignored the testimonies of thousands of Syrians who were victims of the terrorist organizations’ crimes,” adding” it also ignored the abundant information provided by the Syrian government to the United Nations since the beginning of the crisis through more than 600 official letters.”

(By Finian Cunningham, AHT) ~ It’s no coincidence that as Washington’s criminal covert war for regime change in Syria comes off the rails, we are now seeing a new flare up Libya –allegedly to combat the ISIS terror group.

The Libya theatre is re-opening in order to distract from the setback to Washington and its accomplices in their losing enterprise in Syria.

Leave aside the misnomer “civil war”for a moment. The assertion that Washington is expending diplomacy to end violence in Syria is the jarring term. Anyone who has followed the Syrian conflict with independent intelligence –as opposed to Western media misinformation –will not buy that claim.

The violence in Syria has from the outset been a foreign-backed covert war for regime change. Washington, Britain, France and their regional clients in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan and Israel launched the aggression to topple the Russian and Iranian-allied Assad government in March 2011.

The country was infiltrated with a proxy army of terrorists – of which ISIS is but one component –so as to achieve regime change by plunging Syria into a bloodbath.

The notion of “civil war”that the Western media continually peddle is a contemptible misnomer, used for the purpose of concealing the real nature of the war –a foreign-backed aggression, entirely illegal and responsible for the near-destruction of a nation.

Informed sources disclosed that a US-made helicopter has taken several senior ISIL leaders out of Anbar province in Western Iraq to an unknown location.

“A US chopper landed in a farm near the main road linking al-Saqlaviyeh to Fallujah in Anbar province and took off after one hour with ISIL leaders on board,” the Arabic-language Sama Baghdad news website quoted informed Iraqi sources in Fallujah city as saying on Sunday.

“We have compelling evidence that a US helicopter landed in Albu Arim palms of Fallujah city to take out the ISIL leaders who were in contact with the Americans,” said a senior Iraqi security official.

“ISIL commanders trusted the US officials who had assured them that the Iraqi forces would not attack Fallujah because the US had urged the Iraqi government to prevent the popular forces from entering Fallujah and raid Beiji instead; hence the terrorists left Fallujah for Beiji to stay on the alert in there,” Al-Hosseini added.

Reporting about carnage in the ancient city of Aleppo is the latest reason why.

Washington-based reporters tell us that one potent force in Syria, al-Nusra, is made up of “rebels” or “moderates,” not that it is the local al-Qaeda franchise.

Saudi Arabia is portrayed as aiding freedom fighters when in fact it is a prime sponsor of ISIS.

Turkey has for years been running a “rat line” for foreign fighters wanting to join terror groups in Syria, but because the United States wants to stay on Turkey’s good side, we hear little about it.

Nor are we often reminded that although we want to support the secular and battle-hardened Kurds, Turkey wants to kill them.

Everything Russia and Iran do in Syria is described as negative and destabilizing, simply because it is they who are doing it — and because that is the official line in Washington.

The Beirut-based analyst Marwa Osma asked: “The Syrian Arab Army, which is led by President Bashar Assad, is the only force on the ground, along with their allies, who are fighting ISIS — so you want to weaken the only system that is fighting ISIS?”.

Who’s giving the orders here?

The evidence points to Washington losing control over its regional underlings. That in turn makes the situation all the more volatile and dangerous.

In this fissile situation of rogue regimes going even more rogue, the prospect of an all-out regional and even global war is sharply increased.

It is common to think of the US and its global system of allies and clients as a top-down order. Washington is the executive and the rest are mere minions and vassals, to do as Uncle Sam beckons.

While that is largely correct, the rapidly changing world has seen a precipitous decline in American power, in line with its flagging economy.
The US may still be a ferocious military behemoth, but its political leverage is not what it used to be.

This decline in US “soft power” has opened up space for its client regimes to become more uppity.

ALEPPO ~ The Syrian Army advanced in the Eastern part of Aleppo province and encircled over 800 ISIL terrorists, leaving them with no way out, an acute shortage of ammunition and food supply, military sources said Sunday.

“The Syrian Armed Forces, in very successful operations, imposed full control over Um Tureikiyeh in the vast plains of al-Safira, in which over 800 ISIL terrorists that were fighting the government forces at the strategic city of al-Safira and its nearby village of Tal Aran found themselves encircled for the first time in this war,” the sources said.

“The 800 ISIL terrorists have no outlet to retreat and they have no available supply lines; this means, they will either surrender to the Syrian Armed Forces or fight till the death,” the sources added.

Reports said on Saturday that the Syrian army alongside popular forces gained full fire control over ISIL’s lines of supply in the Eastern part of Aleppo province.

Almost the entire supply lines of the ISIL terrorist group have come under the control of the Syrian government forces, and actually the militant group’s members operating in the Eastern part of Aleppo have been trapped with no way to scape.

LATTAKIA ~ The Syrian Army and popular forces pushed the militant groups back from more territories in the Northern part of Lattakia province and took back several villages and heights near the border with Turkey.

The Syrian army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) stormed the militant groups positions in the mountainous region of the coastal province of Lattakia and imposed full control over the villages of Hamrat, al-Deirouneh, Nahashba and Mahshaba, Ruweisat al-Kitf, Ruweisat Taloukshi and Ruweisat Wata al-Sindianeh and a number of strategic heights.

The militant groups left behind a number of dead and wounded members and fled the battlefields.

It’s not Putin who wanted this war but the Nobel Prize Winner who founded and funded ISIS hoping to repeat the success of Libya

Death toll from the three terrorist bombings in al-Sayyida Zeinab rose to 83, while 178 citizens were wounded.

Earlier, A number of civilians were killed and others were injured, most of them are women and children in three successive terrorist bombings in the schools’ street in al-Sayyida Zeinab town in Damascus Countryside on Sunday.

The bombing was followed by two other suicide bombings with explosive belts after the civilians gathered in the place.

The three bombings killed a number of civilians and injured scores others who were severely wounded in addition to causing big material damage to the area.

Daesh mercenary-terrorists claimed responsibility for the three explosions.

FULL TEXT OF THE INTERVIEW [37 QUESTIONS] GIVEN BY SYRIAN PRESIDENT DR. BASHAR HAFEZ AL-ASSAD TO SPANISH NEWSPAPER ‘EL PAIS’.

The Syrian President asserted that the cessation of military operations requires preventing the terrorists from using it to improve their position, as well as preventing other countries, especially Turkey, from sending more recruits, more terrorists, more armaments, or any kind of logistical support to terrorists, adding that the Russian and the Iranian support were essential for the Syrian Army to make its advancement.

Question 4 ~ “Ceasefire is about – if you want to say ceasefire, it’s not the correct word, because ceasefire is between two armies or two countries – it’s cessation of hostility, or, let’s say, stopping the operation, if you want to call it like this. It’s about, first of all, to stop the fire, but it’s about the other complimentary and more important factors, preventing the terrorists from using the ceasefire or the cessation of hostility in order to improve their position. It’s about preventing other countries, especially Turkey, from sending more recruits, more terrorists, more armaments, or any kind of logistical support to those terrorists, and you know there’s a United Nations resolution, or Security Council resolution, regarding this point that’s not implemented. If we don’t provide all these requirements for the ceasefire, it will be against, let’s say, the stability; it’s going to make more chaos in Syria, it may lead to de facto division of the country. That’s why if we want to use the ceasefire, it is positive providing these factors”.

Question 14 ~ “Legally and constitutionally, everyone who can hold machineguns against the people and against the government is a terrorist, in your country, in my country, in every country in the world. You cannot say they are legitimate. They could be legitimate when they give up their armaments and join the political process. This is the only way in every country to rebuild your country or to change whatever you want to change, whether the constitution or the laws or the government, everything, you can, but through political process, not through armaments”.

At least 48 people were killed and over hundred injured in a twin terrorist car-bombing Sunday near al-Arman neighborhood entrance at al-Siteen street in Homs city, but the number is expected to grow, due to the many serious injuries.

Local ‘Syrian Arab News Agency’ reporters said earlier that 14 people were killed and tens were injured in a twin terrorist car-bombing attack, but unfortunately the number of victims has grown rapidly.

Witnesses said at least one of the two blasts was triggered by a suicide bomber driving a car.

RIA Novosti News Agency cites a medical official who estimated a higher casualty number, saying the attack has claimed at least 46 lives and injured as many as 110.

The Syrian Government Cabinet condemned the two terrorist bombings that hit Homs city and claimed the lives of many, too many, Syrians.

Syria accuses Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar (…and their Zionist master…with its NATO, USA puppet-regimes…) of funding and arming terrorist groups operating inside the country, including Daesh.
